It's a great little place serving really good food at a good price. I'm talking pub food but very good pub food. My Grandad used to have the gammon everytime and everytime he would always finish it and always tell us how good it was. Quiz night on a Monday is worth popping down to and live sport is also shown there so it's hugely popular on match days. My favourite pub.

I've been drinking in the…read moreMoss Vale for over 10 years, currently it's being missmanaged (it's been on the slippery slope for about 4-5 years now) The beer is very overpriced (the dearest pub in the area, nights out on deansgate cost less!) the pub is so understaffed that I have often seen customers walk out without being served (Kym Marsh was in last week and she left after 10 minutes without having been served at an almost empty bar!) The locals (myself included) just tollerate this as we are all set in our ways. It's not the fault of the staff who are all good at their jobs and usually try their best to be efficient. For some reason there is rarely more than 1 member of staff behind the bar and that person has to serve drinks, take food orders and serve food to tables. This often leaves the bar unattended which is frustrating when you are waiting for a drink. The food has deteriorated to such a point where the staff won't eat there (even though the food to them is free, they would rather pay for a chippy meal) and it is unusual for someone to eat a meal and not complain. The toilets are disgusting, It seems that recently someone has reduced the number of times the urinals flush (in an effort to save water?) which has ended up making the toilets stink. The cleaning rota has taken a dive recently, to the point where the tables are sticky, the carpets in some areas are thick with rotten food and beer slops. There has been a steady flow of landlords/landladys over the past few years, each of which have tried to improve the pub, but they are all replaced by the owner when he decides he needs to save some money, with new management always comes a cut in investment (and now the basics of hygene are being cut) If you've never been it might be worth a visit, it's a brilliant lesson in how to ruin what could be a great pub but if you want a drink and a nice meal then I'd give it a miss. I'll still go 4 times a week though. :-(

Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

Situated on Chester Road just by Manchester FC train station, The Trafford is the first one of the big Manchester United pubs you will come across. Its got two rooms, one a huge normal pub area, and the other a square room, which looks a lot like a dance floor, with a smaller bar for bottled beers only. This in not a dance floor but a chant floor, where Manchester United fanatics gather before each game to shout and sing the classic United songs. Drinks are expensive of course, but they are the same everywhere on match day at around £3. They also have some amazing facilities for pouring beers very very fast in large quantities, so check it out. Going here are to the other two pubs (see Yelp) is a really important part of going to see Manchester United play, so don't skip it!

A MUCH better price than the hotels right next to the airport, yet this hotel/pub is just minutes from the hotel. The room was large and the bathroom was so nice and updated! The cow art in the hallways was sooooo cute! I loved loved it! The pub service could have been more attentive, but we were a little impatient as we wanted to repack for the flight the next day. The food was good! My husband enjoyed his flatbread pizza. My gammon steak was incredibly salty, like way too salty. Free parking. Easy check in/out Good WiFi We are back in the UK in August and we're already booking our overnight stay at this hotel. We're looking forward to it. Were the owners playing a game of Scrabble when deciding on a name, I wondered…read more After an online search out of curiosity, I found it's actually the nickname for those horse-pulled covered wagons you see pioneers riding on in Wild West films. I was still perplexed as to why a micropub and bottle shop in suburban Urmston chose it as their moniker, but I suppose it's memorable. Anyway, I digress. Though it looks fairly compact from the outside, when you step through the door you find it actually stretches back quite far, with a 'drinking parlour' towards the back behind the bar (which has a small number of pumps serving cask ale and cider). They also have perry, wine, Prosecco, whisky, small-batch gin and old-fashioned soft drinks made by independent producers. When I asked the friendly proprietor he mentioned that they also do quiz nights, tastings, DJ sessions and Bring Your Own Vinyl nights. To the side, they have a decent selection of American, European and local bottled beers on the shelves to take away. Some are fridge-chilled and ready for drinking. This place is only four miles from my home in Sale; if it was within easy walking distance I'd be in here far too frequently.

An absolute must for real ale lovers, there is no brewery attached. Instead, they have up to eight pumps (a minimum of four) of both real ales and more mainstream beers like Fosters. Both these and drinks that I myself actually drink are very reasonably priced for a pub just on the outskirts of the Northern Quarter. If you're not familiar with the area just walk all the way down Oldham Street then cross over the main road- its right in front of you. It is very quiet during the day but that is what some people want after all. No, where the Crown and Kettle really could do with improvement is the food. I think it really lets itself down as it just isn't good pub food- maybe if they perked up the menu more people would straggle in during the day.
