We chose to sit inside and it was lively with music playing and conversations. I was able to hear the friends sitting next to me but was unable to hear other conversations in our group of 9. We had a choice of brunch and lunch items. I had the brisket tacos and a frozen Bellini. Both items were very good. You could tell the tortillas were fresh made which is always nice. Our group ended up sharing two desserts. One was an upside down pineapple cake and the other was a s'mores cake. Both were very good. Birdie's is a place I would bring friends for a casual meal and drinks. It has a lively atmosphere that puts one in vacation mode. Service was friendly and our group was not rushed through the meal. Great happy hour!!! Solid drink menu with great prices. The happy hour fries are a great steal and I love how they are served with guac and sour cream!! Crunchy, crispy, and fresh!! Visited Birdie's Eastside on a Saturday around noon. Super busy on the patio, as it was a nice day outside. Parking lot can get crowded so carpool is the way to go if meeting a group. Birdie's is super spacious inside and outside. We dined on the patio and got sat right away. I tried the Sauv Blanc Slushie - this was so delicious. We had brunch at Birdies this morning for the first time. Our waiter, Anthony, was so kind and helpful! He was very personable and made sure we were always taken care of. He interested us in the soft serve margaritas they are offering right now. Highly recommend trying them while available and at such a great price. This was my second time visiting Birdie's Eastside and my first time trying their brunch! My family and I were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait for a table for four on a Sunday at 10:30 AM -- which, as many brunch-goers know, is no small feat. However, by the time we left around 11:30, it started to get crowded! I like to describe Birdie's as the more adult-friendly, upscale version of Katy Trail Ice House. It's the perfect spot to catch a game, bring your family or dog, or sit outside and enjoy a great meal in beautiful weather (there's plenty of indoor seating too). We started brunch with the Caesar deviled eggs, and I was honestly shocked by how much they captured the flavor of a Caesar salad -- these were a hit with everyone at the table. For my entrée, I went with the steak and eggs, a brunch classic. The dish itself was solid, but the real standout was the crispy, perfectly salty potatoes that came with it -- they were easily my favorite part of the meal. The only downside to our visit was the service. Despite the restaurant being fairly empty when our food arrived, our waitress didn't check in to see if everything came out correctly. After about 10 minutes, we finally flagged her down to ask for ketchup for the potatoes, which took another 10 minutes to arrive -- and she only brought one small cup for the entire table. We ended up having to flag down another waiter for more. Overall, though, Birdie's Eastside remains a great spot: delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, and a setting that makes it easy to enjoy time with family or friends. First time here, walking in I was surprised how big the patio was. A lot of seating outside especially if inside was full. Luckily for a Saturday it wasn't packed. They give 5 per order which other places usually give you 4. The caesar taste was okay but just fell a bit flat. I've had better. As an entree I wanted to try something different and picked Chicken & Waffle tacos. It comes with popcorn chicken, sausage gravy which I got on the side, and syrup. The shell is actually the waffle. The sausage gravy was really good. Not sure about these two actually going together though. Overall, there is some other menu options I definitely wanted to try. When we went, it was kid-friendly; there were lots of kids and families because they were having a Mavericks night, so families could enjoy it. It's great that they also have a separate cocktail lounge for adults only, which is pretty cool. Besides that, they have a great full bar both outside and inside, which is fun. We sat at the bar, enjoyed ourselves, and had a good time. There are plenty of TVs for games and sports. We didn't try the food, as we were just there for drinks, but the service was pretty good. The bartenders were attentive, and I definitely need to go back to try the food. I think it's a great spot for family fun if you have kids, but it's also good for adults because of the separate cocktail lounge. The burger is big. We are both full. Only thing I didn't care for -- the sogginess of the bottom bun because of the lettuce, tomato, and onion. I'll request that on the side next time. We stopped in last minute to Birdie's Eastside for brunch. We did not make a reservation just showed up on a Saturday and we were sat immediately. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating. We started with the deviled eggs, highly recommended they were amazing. Then we got the Southern fried Bird Sandwich and the Tikka Fried Chicken Wrap. The Tikka Fried Chicken Wrap is one of the best wraps I have ever had. I can't recommend it enough, absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich, the sandwich is huge but with pimento cheese it's so good. This place is a perfect place to come watch football. They have happy hour all week and they even do a reverse happy hour at night and the kitchen stays open late so would be the perfect place to grab a late night snack. The outdoor area and inside space are both nice and open, but beyond that, I'm not sure I'm coming here for much else. The food was subpar at best but presents as quality bar food; I didn't get that. I am so mad at myself that it's taking me this long to try birdies but I ended up trying it finally and I was pleasantly surprised. Of course I had to stop by for their happy hour to test out the menu and see if it was worth coming back. They know how to put some liquor and drinks is what I have to say. I ordered their Sauvignon Blanc, frozen drink and had a frozen margarita. I would skip on the frozen margarita as it wasn't my favorite, possibly due to the liquor used, but the Sauvignon Blanc hits the spot. This was such a unique take on a frozen drink that I don't find at restaurants quite often or at all so it was a nice touch as it seems like a pretty exclusive menu item to try. This plus the hot Texas sun and sitting on the patio was definitely an afternoon staple. Now for the food, I simply ordered an order of the wings. I love that I was able to just order flats only and it was lemon pepper flavored the wings were actually pretty solid. I would ask for them extra crispy next time, however, still enjoyable in the perfect bar food to sit on the patio. If you're looking for a chill spot during the week, whether it's solo or with friends, I would definitely recommend I came solo and brought my Kindle to read and just people watching and had a great time. I also ended up talking with some neighbors sitting next to me and had some pleasant conversations. My only acts to the restaurant is for the servers to be more attentive to the guest because I was here for happy hour. I really wanted to order a lot from the happy hour when it came to drinks. However, my server only came to me twice during my three hour duration, and I wasn't able to take advantage of the happy hour and what I came for. Wowwee this place gets BUSY!! I'd heard about the incredibly large outdoor space at Birdie's Eastside and was happy to finally check it out. We took our little ones (2 year old and 5 month old) to meet up with a group of friends for playdates. So, showing up on a gorgeous sunny day of 70 degrees at 5pm pm a Friday in Lakewood...I should've known it would've been packed! The parking lot alone was completely full. They have a large turf lawn in their outdoor space where kiddos can run around. I felt bad for the staff member in charge of that area. It was a madhouse. Kids of all ages were smacking into each other. My husband and I were nervous to let our toddler play there. If I could offer any feedback I'd say maybe keep the age groups separated to avoid some very anxious parents from screaming at each other. The cocktails: tons and tons of beer options which were cold and crisp. I enjoyed their jalapeño margarita. It made for a refreshing drink outside. Apps: the deviled eggs were delicious! They're served on a bed of arugula and crispy bacon. Get this. We also order the pita and hummus dip and queso. I can't speak to the latter but the dip with veggies was great! Entrees: I ordered the chicken tikka wrap filled with seasoned rice and seasoning. This came out fresh and crispy with a side of Caesar salad. I'd definitely order again. Friends ordered the burger, flatbread, and steak. Pretty much everything was great. The burger was just "okay" apparently. Overall 5/5. So, we didn't expect such a crowded patio, but given the fact that it was a holiday, Columbus Day, and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating, there wasn't a table available for us at the time we arrived. We considered dining at the outdoor bar, but opted to sit at a booth inside. Once seated, our server quickly took our drink order. I started with the blood orange margarita and my husband had a beer. We decided to try the prosciutto, fig and arugula flatbread to start. It was good, but really could have had more prosciutto. As you can see from the photo attached to my review, there were literally three small slices with an overload of figs and arugula. Moving on to our main lunch courses, I ordered the salmon and grains bowl and my husband opted for the southern fried bird sandwich. My grain bowl was exceptional. It featured a sizeable portion of perfectly cooked salmon. I loved the mix of grains and the brussel sprouts along with the portabella mushroom were tasty. The restaurant version of "meh". Over the pandemic, we watched as Luby's closed and this building sat empty. Then, as the new owners were developing the site we were excited to see how things were taking shape. The restaurant does look great, it has a nice vibe and a great patio. However, the food was nothing special and overpriced. Nothing was worth writing home about and definitely not worth what they charge. Judging by the other reviews, it seems I am in the minority so maybe we just ordered wrong but at a better restaurant that wouldn't be possible.
