We are so happy we found this place!! My husband wanted to purchase a bird for his mother, and Michelle (the owner) was SO helpful in guiding us towards the perfect fit for her. We chose a cockatiel baby, just over 3 months old. Michelle takes such good care of her birds, and you can definitely tell. We are so happy with the service, care and knowledge from Michelle, that we decided we will get ourselves a little baby also! I haven't written a review for many years but I felt the need to write this one. I was hesitant to bring my birds in for grooming based on the bad reviews from yelp but I was fooled by some positive reviews so I decided to take the chance. My worst biggest mistake and I regret so much. The woman appeared very rude and distressed by just walking into her store. I told her my birds had never been groomed and before I finished my sentence further she grabbed the first bird. She grabbed the bird in the most horrific way, she was literally strangling the bird. I was about to stop her but she quickly grabbed her dirty scissors and clipped off the bird feathers. It was too late for me to change my mind. She then proceeded to clip the nails. I told her not to clip it too short because this is the first time the birds being groomed. She lectured me about the numbers of years she was in business and never hurt a bird. Ok i trusted her. Guess what, both of my babies birds (2 of them), both of their feet were bleeding. She proceeded to have the attitude to tell me, oh when the birds bleed i could put this to stop the bleeding. Ok. Great. I was thinking madly "That's what I DON't WANT TO HAPPEN SO I BROUGHT THEM TO YOU TO DO IT FOR CAREFULLY BUT YOU FAILED!! " She told me everything is fine until I brought the birds home that night. She must had yanked on one of the bird's legs so hard or severely injured it in some ways that he couldn't stand on his foot anymore. He was in so much pain and distressed he pecked off his feathers and appeared half dead. Both birds were so traumatized and distressed they didn't want to eat or make any sound. They never acted this way. It broke my heart. I was so mad at myself for not trusting the negative reviews from those yelpers. It had been several days and he still couldn't put his foot down. He kept tugging it in his body and standing on one foot. He might be handicapped for life or he might die. How can someone own a pet shop but have no heart in caring for them? If only if she could be more gentle in handling those tiny fragile birds then my babies wouldn't have to suffer this much. I don't care how many years she told me but seeing how she treated my birds this way, her number years of experience just went into the toilet. I really feel sorry for those birds that are currently in her care. I dont trust her anymore to even buy a bird from her. My review is as true as possible and if you are a birds lover, i hope you don't have to go through what I went through if you still decided to go there. And if you are the woman reading this, I hope you have some moral values in caring for those birds. To you they might just be another bird but to others, they are their babies. NO PICS INSIDE, as what the sign states outside. I can sort of see why. To put it, it's not the most cleanest and quite cluttered. There's only some parts of the shop open to the public. No part of the large building inside toward the side, just a bit of the front area. Quite dusty and I noticed a Christmas tree completely engulfed in cobwebs. It gets quite warm in there too, despite the fans (blowing up dust as well, so if you have asthma or allergies may not be the best place to be). It's mostly the common pet birds, but I did see some fancier finches. I'm sure the owners are quite knowledgeable as they were having an in depth conversation with one of the customers regarding a bird's diet. Maybe as a reptile person I can't comment as much, but the experience was a bit disappointing with how neat the building looks like on the outside. read more

This is the worst place to get your bird; my daughter purchased an English Budgie last Thursday and it died on Sunday:( she was so hear broken, its obvious the bird was sick. With store looking a mess and unclean she should have known not to purchase. She bonded with the bird and was enamored only to go into a deep slump because it died. I rarely do write ups in yelp but I feel the need to warn others not to purchase from this uncaring lady. We went back to let the lady know and she was so defensive, no compassion for what happened. I have had the worst experience with this lady Michelle, first she is Rude aggressive her customer service depends on if your are purchasing expensive overpriced birds , I placed a deposit of 300.00 dollars for a sun conure priced at 1300.00 and unfortunately 2weeks after my Mother was placed in hospital then hospice, I explained I need to wait on my purchase she okay that. When I return to talk to her that I ask if she honor to use deposit for a smaller bird or green cheek she refused or anything purchase in the store she refused. . She is a miserable human as it reflects on her heart and greed. Plus I would be careful purchasing a bird look at the conditions of shop everything is so dusty and dirty and unhealthy the amount of dust on products and her counter shows it all. I was blessed to meet a great breeder that I have purchased 2 other birds ,my sun was only 550.00 and was 4month baby. and it's a red factor healthy and beautiful. She refuses to return my deposit or of course or let me use for any other purchase. I have waited patiently on a response text after she hung up the phone on our last conversation 2weeks ago. The city of Whittier needs to know what type business this lady conduits don't be fooled by other friends she has them post great reviews. Going and check for yourself. I would not recommend this place at all to bird lovers or for caring for your Bird. Look at the condition of her place! Go to place for anything bird related, owner is extremely knowledgeable of all her birds and this was key in her guiding us to our GCC bird whom we put a deposit on, all the while she allowed myself and 5 daughters to come and visit gave us weekly updates/pictures on our baby when she noticed maybe the original one chosen was not a great match for our family she gladly switched out for another more kid friendly hand tamed GCC. I've had plenty of interaction with the lady I believe to be the owner and I have found her to be busy and yet always makes it a point to acknowledge anyone waiting and promptly attends to each of her customers in a kind manner. read more

Best bird store around. Cages are huge for the birds to live in. The small cages behind the counter are the birds she takes home with her everyday. They are babies and she cares for them around the clock. They are not kept in those small cages all the time. Just the few days a week that she is open. We've bought a couple finches from her and they are both healthy and doing great. Other stores keep their birds in small cages with lots of over-crowding. She's knowledgeable and knows her stuff. We unfortunately did not have a good experience here. My son was in search of an Indian Ringneck, specifically a blue male. We looked everywhere and decided to stop here. The owner was very nice, she said she had babies but wouldn't be ready for a few weeks. We left a deposit and waited. We ended up waiting close to 8 weeks. I finally called and it's hard to get a hold of someone when they are open only a few days a week. She called me back and said the bird wasn't eating well and needed a few more weeks. My son patiently waited a few more weeks, again didn't hear back from her. I called and called and she finally told me that she brought the baby birds to the store and they were stolen. TERRIBLE lack of communication, left me scrambling to find a bird for my son who was patiently waiting. We had spent a lot of money, bought a large cage, did all of our research to get ready for his arrival. My son was crushed. Again, not her fault if the birds were really stolen (who knows at this point)... but she could've called us right away! She left us stranded and breeding season had passed. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Our deposit was refunded but that's besides the point. read more

We've been missing our friends at Pampered Birds in Atwater village, tHe owner retired and we were in a scramble to locate another place that grooms and boards birds. The owner seemed very nice. She was very knowledgeable about bird grooming. We've researched what to do and what not but are to afraid to trim and injure our bird. She mentioned a few things that we knew is correct. This place is a local spot with regulars that come. A Someone came and gave high praise of the owner for the care she puts in while taking care of her bird. I can tell she was telling the truth because of how our bird was being handled. While looking around, she has a large selection of bird toys and cages along with her house mix feed which I can identify a lot of very healthy items for a bird. So yep that's my two cents about this placce and will be coming here for a long time. She has a good variety of birds and a if I want another conure I'll come here, the ones she has here seem to be handle with care while they were very young. read more

I saw this business on Google listed as just a pet supply store, so I wanted to verify if they had a specific bird to purchase. A woman answered the phone and was beyond rude. What I can gather from other reviews is that this must be the owner. They lost any prospective business that I was going to have with them. My advice is to find a business owner that is happy to help their customers and is able to display that in the way they treat their customers. During Covid, it was my idea to support a small business, but I will happily take my business to another small business where they appreciate and need my business. Michelle, the owner, is so friendly and informative. We chatted for a while about parrot keeping. The place could use a bite of spring cleaning, but otherwise, I like the cage set up she has. For the parrots - I much prefer them out of the cage w/ human interaction. I think most people are looking for a pet. i don't like to leave negative reviews but the lady who i am assuming is the owner is rude. i attempted to walk into the store with my TRAINED service dog and she told me my dog would make the birds jump so i couldn't come in. I immediately left and didn't even argue with her. the store was filthy and birds were cramped into cages anyways. she also wasn't wearing a mask in the middle of a pandemic.. take your money else where. read more

Birds Love US! Kristen M. loves YOU!!!! I own a 12 year old Solomon-Island Eclectus (male) parrot so finding bird shops are quite difficult since a bunch of places cater to dogs and cats. Forget the chain-y pet stores that don't really cater to your parrot needs. They don't really know the do's and don'ts for what their care entails. What I like about this place is that they are very personable, helpful and friendly. They are very accommodating as well! Need tips or suggestions, they can cater to that as well. Supplies for parrots are off the chain over here. (FYI = Se Habla Espanol!) If you need to board your bird.......they can do that! BOARDING PRICES = Ranges from $1.75 (finch sized birds) to $4.75 (macaw sized birds) per day. Comes with fresh food for their stay as well. And if I'm not mistaken, toys they can borrow! If you need your bird to be groomed....... they can do that too! GROOMING PRICES = $3.50 for beak $3.50 for nails $3.50 for feathers $5 for a bath (need to wait 1 hour for this process) (FYI = buy a bird from them and you'll get FREE lifetime bird grooming! What a deal!) The lady who works here is the owner and has a couple parrots herself. I applaud her for keeping a lovely establishment just catered to our feathered friends! I heard they moved here recently from Baldwin Park). Too bad I don't live close by, I would be a definite regular. THIS is one place I know I can depend upon! read more

I bought 2 bags of large see mix for my cockatoo. In it were large maggots. Larger than moths. You could have used them for fish bait. An occasional moth in the bag I could tolerate, but not this gross mix.I'll never go back again. The store doesn't appear to be the cleanest around either. I talked to the owner once about the worms in my seed..she simply didn't want to accept the responsibility. Beyond that, the full time lady that works there is nice. Since I moved to Los Alamitos, I found Exotic Birds by Fran in Cypress. They actually have seed bins (like a health food store) where you scoop up the seeds. The seeds; pellets; corn etc are always fresh and clean. I've never seen a single moth. Fran, the owner, is simply fantastic. She does the grooming for my Molucaan. She know a lot about birds and is happy to share her knowledge. read more
