I mean, West Kirby Library is ok as it has a few computers that you can use the internet on and a wider open community space. But really, all the libraries are old fashioned and seem to use archaic equipment. When you go travelling you notice that in other countries such as the states and Australia, libraries can become community hubs for serious intellectuals and learning. Pensby library doesn't seem to have that. They have a minimal range of popular fiction, children's books and nonfiction books. They have three or four outdated computers for community members to access the internet, and they have a dull, drab 70's style building that could do with a revamp and a refurb. The staff are friendly enough, and they are happy to ring around other libraries to track down the title that you are after. But I really wish that the libraries in our peninsula would get a bit of money spent on them for the sake of the community as a whole!

I have always loved books,…read moreeven when I refused to learn to read as quickly as some of my siblings, and I have always loved libraries. In fact, I have worked in two different ones, doing everything from adding new books to the system and helping graduate and doctorate students do research on microfiche to shelving books in the high stacks and doing mold decontamination. My love of libraries stems not only from my love of books, but from my love of research, and my respect for the hard work that librarians around the world do every day to not only keep these places open for those of us who fairly worship books, but also to help us research those hard topics and seemingly unanswerable questions. This particular library is a fairly good one. It's larger than I expected it to be, and has a fairly basic section for every basic category. As usual, though I would say they could use more craft books, more children's classics, and more of those "must not weed" books that I cannot understand why librarians insist on pulling. Some books are as much a part of a library as the foundation stones, and should stay on the shelves regardless of whether or not someone checks them out more than three times a year.
