September 2025 Sean technician from Birmingham Plumbing Heating and Cooling replaced a frozen shut off valve under our bathroom vanity. In a consultation several days beforehand, we had asked Sean to replace it like the cold water valve next to it had been replaced a few years before which would have entailed heating the fitting with a blow torch, sliding it off of the master water pipe coming out of the wall and soldering the new shut off valve onto the two and a quarter inch pipe coming out of the wall. Instead Sean decided to cut the old shut off valve off the mater pipe and cutting it to less than an inch from the wall and crimping a hodgepodge with 6 fittings prior to the new shut off valve. We conferred with another plumber of our concerns of our master water pipe being cut to less than an inch from the wall as well as all the fittings before the shut off. He confirmed our concerns that any future plumbing work would now entail removing part of the wall as well as part or all of the vanity. He did assure us that all the extra fittings would unlikely ever be a problem. I did talked by phone to the Dan the plumbing manager. He did assure me that the hodgepodge of fittings to the new shut off should be secure but did not listen to my concerns of my master hot water line being cut off to less than an inch from the wall and the future consequences it might entail for us. We are not satisfied that we were not a part of any decision to cut our master water line to less than an inch from the wall and crimping a hodgepodge of fittings onto it. It will also cost us dearly if any of this work needs to be changed or modified in the future read more

I had them install a new faucet and garbage disposal, and they charged me over $1000 for a 2-hour job - that is $500 an hour - which is totally ridiculous! I have used them before, for a water heater that went bad, and they were fast to the rescue and I thought charged a somewhat reasonable price, but for things that most people could do themselves, but decide to hire it out - their prices are ridiculous. I would never use them again for a job like today's. As a female, working Mom, there was a time when I had to install my own garbage disposal - it wasn't easy for me, but I did it. On November 30, 2022, Andrew came to fix one of the sinks in a bathroom in our home. He immediately diagnosed a hairline crack in the sink which had resulted in the water collecting under the sink. Unfortunately, they were not able to replace the sink, but were willing to provide names of appropriate people who could provide the service. Here is where the integrity of this company comes into being....I asked Andrew if he could put in a new sink on the weekend and he refused on the grounds that it would be dishonest and Mr. Winters would not be pleased. Have had them come out multiple times to fix AC and heating. They charge twice what it should cost, and then it breaks again a month later and they try and charge you again for a different problem. I had a clogged sink, and thought I needed it snaked. The serviceman was very professional and did an excellent job. Once the serviceman got there, he determined that the sink just needed to be plunged. The problem I had was that it took about 60 seconds, and I was charged $79.00. I understand that companies have standard service call fees that they collect, regardless of how much work is performed, but I feel I was taken advantage of, for the work that was performed. First I will say that I was told that there will be a service fee of $79.00 that was true. I also was told that that I would be presented an estimate before any work was done- False it didn't happen. I had a leak behind my main bathroom sink. Repairman tried to replace nut but it didn't work. I was asked to get a new handles and faucet. So I did so at Home Depot. I had another pedestal sink needing repair. Only one my cold handle needed repair but the repairman did both handles. I had other items to check within the house. No other repairs were done. I was hoping to spend $450-$600 for all repairs. It cost me $750. I had a $35.00 coupon and they gave me $50.00 off. The work was done but I will not use them again. They didn't follow the process like I was told. I felt like I was taken advantage of. I called the office after to ask for a breakdown of one of the repairs. I hired Birmingham Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling to do regular maintenance. The mechanic came to check the air conditioner. By mistake, I left him alone for five minutes. During that time, he pushed the fan down which caused the air conditioner to make noise. When I returned, he told me that the air conditioner was noisy. Right away, I knew what he had done. Usually the maintenance takes about 20 minutes, but he took an hour and a half. He worked on the air conditioner for 10 minutes, but most of the time, he was sitting or standing in his truck, watching the shelves of his truck in order to fill his one hour and a half time. Finally, he decided to leave, telling me I needed to replace the fan or buy a new air conditioner. Since I knew what he had done, I fixed the problem myself. Two pieces of advice: Never hire this company and never leave a mechanic alone for a second. Response: There is nothing for you to resolve. I have already fixed it. Also, I cannot let anyone from your company come near my house or my equipment as I am sure they will create another problem, and I do not have time to watch another technician for two hours and let them damage my equipment and then spend another hour to fix it. I guess your technicians are trained to behave like this; otherwise, they would not do this. It is OK with me that you took my money for maintenance; instead, I ended up paying you to damage my air conditioner. I learned never to hire you again; and if I hire another company, I will watch them every second. Fortunately, I can fix anything, and now I will never hire a "professional" again. read more

Jon Sweet arrived and replaced two faucet sets that had been installed incorrectly years ago, plus he replaced a flushing unit for a toilet. Then Scott (oh no, I forgot his last name) came over on an emergency call to repair an AC unit that some window installers wrecked. Scott took extra time (without charge) to educate me on the workings of my pool plumbing. Now I am awaiting another Birmingham tech to repair my 18 year old furnace. I like these people. I trust their work and their work ethic. They make sure I understand the work to be done and the cost to do it. And so far, they have sent their best personable people. I get a drain snaked every spring as preventative maintenance. I decided to try Birmingham Plumbing Heating and Cooling. I scheduled a non-emergency appointment almost a week in advance. Birmingham's plumber ripped us off. They charged us 2x what Levine and Sons' charged us last year. RooterMD had done the week 3 years ago and Birmingham was 3x what RooterMD cost. Needless to say I will never be calling these folks again. My wife met them and I was not home. If I would have been home they would have walked away empty handed. I had an incident last summer where my air wouldn't kick on. I could not figure out why, so I called Birmingham Plumbing Heating and Cooling. I spoke with Andrea and she was the sweetest most understanding person to deal with at a moment of panic, seeing that it was super hot outside. She scheduled someone to come out to me the next day. Come to find out, my cable guy, which I had new cable installed the week prior too, accidentally snipped a wire that caused the furnace and my air conditioning to go out. He quoted me $450-500 if he had to work on it. The service guy didn't even remove the unit to check it....in fact, he never took a tool out. Sat and watched it from above. Blamed the issue on something so ridiculous, it made no sense. That's what $205 got me. What would $450 get me? Oh boy! He did quote me $5,000 on a new unit. Really?
