I ate here last week and also 2 years ago and it was just as delicious as I remember! Both times I had the Buradi Roll. It's spicy but not too spicy. The service is wonderful, friendly and fast. The only downside is trying to find somewhere to sit and eat because the Kati Roll can be a little messy. Next time I am going to try the Spicy Chicken Biryani. Can't wait to come back! read more

I forgot I have been here previously, stopped by the other day for lunch. Got the mixed platter. This spot definitely is oily, or it could be from one of the sauces (green) ? The chicken and lamb tasted decent. The yellow rice was flavorless, and I really couldn't taste the masala powder that's added. Gotta say, I'm quite impressed for cart food. Particularly, their kati rolls were real yummy. KATI ROLLS - LAMB Tender, chewy, warm paratha that was not too oily, which I often find the issue with pakistani restaurants. Tender pieces of lamb, some heat, crunchy onions and veggies to contrast that fluffy chewy texture of the roll. Yummy CHICKEN BIRYANI Tender chicken, fluffy rice, that is flavored throughout, and is moist. Egg for extra heartiness. I've def had bolder, more fleshed out biryani but this is a great quick fix and especially for cart food, the quality of the ingredients surprised me. The kati rolls are a win, and the chicken biryani are not a bad addition. The menu has a lot of vegetarian options and isn't just your typical food cart. Food (listed from best to worst): Chennai Roll- loved the sweet chili flavor of the chicken in here Lamb Kati Roll- lamb was good quality and full of flavor King Kati Roll- too spicy for my liking Chicken Tikka Masala over rice- I'm indian and I can vouch to say this is NOT what CTM tastes like at all. Lovely red colored meat but the flavor just wasn't there. And the yellow rice is super bland, no flavor at all....but they give a good portion of it. Also a major factor for me giving it 2 stars is the fact that I found a chicken BONE in my kati roll that almost chipped my tooth and makes me nervous to get another one. Their namesake dish is excellent and based on a recommendation from a friend, do get the red chicken on top. This adds an extra kick and flavor. I have a confession. I came here for dinner number 2. I purposely scheduled dinner with friends for early in the evening, so that I could work up an appetite to come here for my second dinner. I came here late at night and there was quite a line. The cart sells different types of biryani rice as well as kati rolls. I had the chicken biryani, topped with delicious white sauce. The biryani was good and came with an egg. I wish there was a little more chicken though. It was a little greasy but that is ok. This is delicious late night food! While I was waiting for my food to be prepared, I saw the guy in the cart cooking more biryani rice, and adding spices. It is good to see that he makes the biryani rice from scratch. Came by here on an evening and seeing how this was a popular food cart in the area I had to try it. There was no one waiting in line, so everything went by pretty smoothly. The owner/cook was very nice. I asked to order the chicken biryani. He gave me a Daal Puri to try while I was waiting for my food to be cooked, which was very delicious. The chicken biryani itself was really spicy, to the point I couldn't finish it. From the parts that I couldn't taste the spice it was good, but the amount of spice that was added (from both the sauce and spices) it was very overwhelming. When asked if I wanted it to be spicy, I only said a little bit, but not too much. My chicken looked very red compared to some of the other pictures I've seen posted which is a little confusing if it's actually the same thing. The rice was very mushy and clumped instead of that grainy texture that I like and would expect. Chicken Biryani costed $10. The food was okay but the experience and the kindness definitely up the score and was a nice gesture to this day. read more

We came here at around 10:30 in the evening after theater and ordered 2 lamb roti rolls and one chicken biryani which we took home. We were served very quickly, The food remained warm after a 25 minute bus ride because it was so well and carefully wrapped. At home, this was more than enough food for 2 people. I loved the mildly spicy lamb kati rolls, so delicious and well made. The cart posts signs that it has received Wendy awards for its biryani, and I certainly know why. The biryani was great, soft, perfectly cooked chicken and excellent rice and salad. We may go back tomorrow, if not, certainly very soon. Loved it. Was back in NYC after a few years away. Was craving some chicken/lamb over rice. I found this vendor on 46th Street and 6th Ave. Clean and orderly food cart. Gentlemen was nice and friendly. I ordered the chicken/lamb combo. It was packed with chicken and lamb over side and a lettuce and tomato salad with all the causes he had. Don't be fooled by imitations - look for the name and umbrella. Today I went for the $6 double Kati Roll special. After being stuck in Wells Fargo for 2 hours instead of 15 mins 'on my way' to grab lunch...I was ravenous, and flat-out hangry. I needed something quick and soul-replenishing. The cart operators were quick, polite, and inviting. A lamb and a chicken kati roll later, I found myself saying 'happy Friday' to random coworkers in the hallway once again. Back to the food - I'd say I preferred the chicken to the lamb, but both were seasoned well (chicken had that awesome sriracha-roasted glaze to it), a good amount of heat and seeping in white sauce (as requested). Yummy Food, Fair Pricing, Friendly Service I was super excited to look on Yelp and see this cart after wanting to try a delicious Indian Food Cart. *Free Soda/Water with a Yelp Check In* !!!!! Located right next to Europa Cafe... this cart shouldn't be hard to find what so ever. If your near Radio City, Rockefeller Center or Times Square this cart is in walking distance. The service was friendly and quick. The Cart itself looked very clean and well maintained. The food was delicious and full of flavor. I ordered the Combo Kati Roll-1 Chicken & 1 Lamb for $7. The description says it comes with onions but I wasn't given them. I was asked if I wanted the rolls spicy and OF COURSE I said yes. They were excellent and not overwhelming hot! Because Biryani Cart's Chicken Tikka is one of the best dishes you will ever eat, anywhere. What to get: Chicken Tikka What else: Chicken Tikka Masala, or maybe Biryani And: It's occasionally inconsistent, so if it's not as good as I say, it may just be an off day. I don't discriminate when it comes to boys putting their thingies in me. I enjoy all of them. You can "buryany" of them in my special places and I'll be totally fine with that. But let's get back to the food. My goodness, the food. I've had the Biryani, which is messy, saucy, juicy, covered in an egg and odd spices, and was good but not what I was expecting, so I didn't love it. I've had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is similar to the Biryani but with the heavenly pieces of Chicken Tikka contained therein, and it's extremely good. But in my opinion, skip those dishes, and get: Me, from behind. Oh wait. Sorry. That's not what I meant. Come here to get: Chicken Tikka. Oh. Wow. It is absolutely, utterly incredible. It's like the most heavenly aromatic sauteed marinaded bright red succulent juicy delicious pieces of chicken heaven that you've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Melt-in-your-mouth Indian chicken over spectacular aromatic rice. It's not too dry, it's not too heavy, it's exactly positively perfect. The tragedy is that it's not always this good, but most of the time, in my experience, it has been. And when they get it right, my goodness, it's so right. And if it were the "BlurryAVI Cart" then it would be frequented by gamers who have no idea how to properly design an Avatar, and so use ones that aren't in focus. Although around here, RPG stands for "Rice Portion Guy", as in the guy standing next to the chef guy at Biryani Cart, that rations out how much rice you're going to get with your Chicken Tikka. On its day, this cart can be even better than Sammy's Halal in Queens which is my favourite cart, and a different type of food (Afghan, rather than Indian), but because of consistency, Sammy's Halal inches ahead as my fave cart food (and probably meal in general) in the city. One thing is for sure though. Sammy's Halal and Biryani Cart are two of the best meals in the entire country. They are 2 of the 5 best food trucks in the nation if not two of the top three. They may even be the top two, of the many that I have tried, anyway. And if this were the "Bellyalley Cart" then it'd signify that the only place I'd rather be other than eating at this cart, is on my belly in an alley letting some dude have his way. I could not be a much bigger fan than I am of Biryani Cart. It's orgasmically good. Every single visitor to New York City should come and try it and see for yourself. It's fairly-priced (well under $10) and will fill you up, but more importantly, with the most delicious chicken and rice you may ever eat. Sometimes I go out of my way to get food from here. It's that good. Get the chicken gyro or the lamb Kati rolls! They're both super juicy, savory, and rich--things you wouldn't associate with food carts in nyc. The food is always cooked to order, so you might have to wait a few minutes, but it's so worth it when you take that first bite and enter heaven. The marinades and sauces they use for their meats are so, so flavorful, and I love that they are generous with veggies inside the rolls too. Sometimes there's a cart across the street called "biryani car" (not cart) but don't mistake it for this one!! It's location also allows you to give it a visit, without rerouting you off your path. I ordered the Vegetarian Biryani, and it was truly amazing. It was spiced perfectly and served warm with a piece of seasoned bread, rounding up the entire dish very well. Biryani cart makes some pretty incredible kati rolls, which are a Kolkata-based creation consisting of delicious roasted tikka marinated in a spicy sauce and rolled into a fresh paratha with fried onions and serrano peppers. It's wrapped in paper that you peel away as you eat, so if you're careful you might escape mess-free! I order both chicken (the chicken is more tender and flavorful than the lamb). If you ask for extra spicy, they add more seared peppers. It is heaven. I can't speak for the other rolls ... I only ever order the chicken. If I could eat this every single day, I would. There is an actual kati roll restaurant a few blocks away and theirs are sad in comparison and twice the price. And 2 rolls/$7, you simply can't beat it. We call this Bobby Flay's cart as his pictures are plastered all over this cart on 45th/6th. That's how I heard of it in the first place, on a food show about street meat. Our sheer delight that it was located so close to our workplace. I haven't had the pleasure of trying their Kati Rolls yet, but their combo over rice is delish and well-portioned. The hot sauces are spicy, which is not for my meek spice tolerance. The cart guys were also quite friendly and service quick. Funny story: we once had an office order for 15, comprising mostly of guys who's never had street meat before. A few went to place the orders, with an elaborate list of requests in hand. Truly an amazing food cart. The Biryani rice is amazing. I have rarely had rice, even at sit down establishments, that have has much aromatic flavor as this cart! I literally am eating, spitting or picking out the cloves, whole spices, and seeds that make up this amazingly aromatic and flavorful rice! Any chicken dish is cooked to tender perfection. The workers in the cart are friendly and understand when you say you can handle spice. Plus its a food cart, with food cart prices. I get so annoyed when you go to a food cart and the prices are just as much as a sit down place. If I wanted to spend extra money, I would spend it to sit down inside a building! Great Indian cart in midtown. Be prepared to wait as your order is prepared based on your order. I started talking to the cashier and he mentioned that they won the vendy award in 2008. I ordered chicken Kati roll with mild spicy for 6 dollars. It was tasty and flavorful Kati roll. I will try their other dishes next time and their prices seem very reasonable. So good!!!! Arrived in NYC late Friday night (1am) and thank goodness Biryani Cart was still open and right around the corner from our hotel. I was just slightly skeptical because pictures weren't suuuper, but it really surpassed my expectations. I had the chicken Kati roll, and it was incredible. I think I would've preferred it over rice though because I just like rice better than prata in general. The chicken was really tender, well-marinated, and there was good amount of sauce in the roll. The owner was also super lovely and sweet. I called another day to check if he was open as well (and even though he wasn't, he picked up!) Definitely recommend coming here! Being this cart is a Vendy Award winner, I knew I had to pay this place a visit. Biryani Cart offers some bomb halal food, but what I came for was the chicken biryani. The rice was soft, aromatic and fluffy. The spices that were added gave the entire dish a whole new kick to a whole new level. Complemented with chicken bits, lettuce, tomatoes, an hard boiled egg and cucumber, the entire dish was light, but at the same time filling. The service here was on-point. The husband and wife both run this cart and the food is definitely legitimate and made with a lot of love. Check-in here on Yelp and get your free water/soda to wash everything down.
