a table with french fries and a vase of flowers

Just updating this review 5 years later! Still spectacular. Every time I come in I am tempted to get something other than the crispy garlic chicken... but it's just so good. Maybe try two items and share entrees with who you came with, but definitely make sure one of them is the crispy garlic chicken! Also got the crab cakes and French onion soup and both were fantastic!!! Our server was really nice and he recognized all the regulars that came into the restaurant! He made sure to make everyone feel welcomed and at home. The ambiance is white table clothes and it's a quieter, but still bustling place! Parking is easy in the back and sometimes free self parking and sometimes $8 valet.

A nice brunch for restaurant week sitting in a sunny window. The ambiance is spot on. The detail of linens on the table, fresh flowers and the pretty decor makes this restaurant a jewel. The brunch was delicious and the waitstaff was cheerful. I've been to this restaurant for lunch, dinner and now today for brunch. The parking in the backlot is so appreciated and I'll be back.

Checking this place out during SRW!

Went during SRW and had their SRW dinner menu. 1st course: choice of French Onion Soup or Crispy Prawns. We had one of each so we got to try them both. French Onion Soup was good. Nothing to rave about. Crispy Prawns - 2 prawns, grand marnier glaze, aleppo pepper - what a teaser! Overall a good dish and if they have this on their regular menu (and more prawns), I would order this again. 2nd course: choice of Cassoulet, Trout Almandine, or Braised Short Ribs My companion ordered Braised Short Ribs - braising greens, cipollini onions, mashed potatoes. Shrot ribs were tender and overall the dish was flavorful. I ordered the Trout Almandine but what came to our table was Cassoulet. When the server realized the mistake, an order for Trout Almandine was placed and the Cassoulet was left on our table while I wait for the trout. So we got to taste the Cassoulet. Cassoulet - duck confit, lamb, sausage, pork, white beans, breadcrumbs - it was good but glad I did not order it. It was too rich for me. Trout Almandine - haricot verts, shallot, fingerling potatoes - I actually like this dish more than the Braised Short Ribs. Buttery (a bit too buttery), but the trout was cooked nicely. 3rd course: choice of Brioche Bread Pudding or Chocolate Mousse Chocolate Mousse - amerena cherries, chocolate chips, whipped cream - it was ok. Brioche Bread Pudding - berries/white chocolate, caramel, whipped cream - between the two, I liked this dessert better, but I've had better bread pudding elsewhere. Service was good. They were very busy considering it was a weeknight but maybe because of SRW. Parking around this are is hard, but they offer valet parking for $8.

Went here during Seattle Restaurant Week and had their brunch (ends at 2 pm). The brunch special is 3 course: drinks (mimosa/coffee), beignet, and entree (chicken sandwich, quiche, or french toast). I had the mimosa, quite sparkling as I prefer it. The beignet came out and was good, had a spread on the side. The main star(s) of the show was the sandwich and the french toast. I preferred the chicken sandwich more as it had a unique and delicious after taste. The french toast was good, but wasn't as memorable as the sandwich. The service was very attentive and came in to check on my table. Along with their great service, they were accommodating to me being late to my RSVP.

For starters, love the fact that they have valet parking! Huge bonus for me! Our lunch reservations were for midweek at noon and when we arrived, the restaurant was packed. The menu is most impressive with something for everyone. At our table, an order of the wagyu meatloaf was ordered, the butternut squash bisque (probably the best soup I have ever had) and the farrow salad with kale, goat cheese and dried cranberries. The soup and salad also arrived with a warm breadbasket. The hostess as well as our waitress were awesome and so attentive. We just had the nicest meal today! Additionally, my mom had been given a gift certificate about 5 years ago and had misplaced it during a move. She came across it and brought it to the restaurant and she was so happy that they allowed her to use it towards our lunch! Good job Bis!

To get this review rolling I arrived late, par for the course really but helps with the entrance and honestly you get to see how a staff responds. Bis on Main wait staff were very good all around and that really makes or breaks a place. I've eaten here twice and both times the service was very good, professional and polite, all be it a bit stiff but I can't complain. The general ambiance is cozy and more intimate, this is a great place for a dinner date or special occasion for two. In my case we had way more than two but it worked out well. You can easily bring 6-8 people if you call ahead. Food - pretty top notch, the rib eye was very tasty, spot on medium rare. The salad was good, not the best I've had but still solid. The charcuterie board was nice, could have been a bit more generous on the cheeses but still tasty. Wine selection is reasonable although there are no "value choices". It's $16-$27 dollars per glass.... That's right per glass. I do think any restaurant should have a nice house red for less than $10 per glass. I get it, restaurants make a lot of money on alcohol but the meal is also not cheap so cut a guy a break. We did crack open an Opus One so you know I was suffering but still. All in all, Bis on Main is a great choice for a dinner date, special occasion or business dinner. Pocket book will thank you if you keep it to just a few times a year though! Expect higher end quality and service in the end.

So my husband has been eyeing this place for a while especially when he found out that the chef from the barking frog was the owner of this place (this isn't a new place just under new ownership) Unfortunately when you initially walk in there is that old building smell, which you eventually get nose blind(ish) to. We came in for brunch and were immediately seated, the welcome was very warm and attentive. I love that they had chicken sausage which I don't always find on their menu and the menu itself was fairly typical to most breakfast menus. So let's talk food Beignets 4/5 lovely pastries a little heavy handed on the sugar, it came with chocolate syrup and huckleberry cream cheese. I will always be a proponent of chocolate sauce and not syrups, I get it it's more expensive but alas Steak and eggs 3/5 a few things here the cook was great but the steak absolutely needed more of a sear, and the potatoes had no place being on that place without getting more crunch, hollandaise and eggs were fine but over all a lack luster dish Farmers Breakfast 3/5 same issue with the potatoes, we did sub bread for biscuit which was yummy, the components were fine they were just missing something extra and with the price point expected of a restaurant in Bellevue and an ex chef of a woodinville favorite we expected more There are quite a few breakfast places I'd have enjoyed more is what it comes down to. I hope they keep adjusting the menu until they get it right and we'd be more than happy to come back!

Awesome place to meet up with old friends and eat some amazing food. Chef Bobby has always gone above and beyond. The service staff know what they are doing and will know how to read the table. If you are looking for exceptional service, wine/cocktails and food ..... this is the place

Still amazing food and top notch service, Mikayla is the best! Everything was presented beautifully and tasted so good! Chef Bobby really has done something great with Bis. My favorite Bellevue restaurant hands down!

    Carla J.

The food was worst than cafeteria or dorm food. We ordered simple breakfast, eggs, bacon and it came with potatoes from yesterday or last week. Soft scrambled eggs were scrambled hard. Bacon was a glob, from being deep fried! I was appalled for spending $29. On garbage! I've heard so many good things about this place I was excited being my first time. BRUNCH IS NOT YOUR THING, stick to what is good and not terrible! Server Jordan was decent, he knew we were not happy.

    Scallops

Over priced menu with mostly flavorless food. Old school "high end" should learn what seasoning is. Service was good and hence two stars.

For our entrées, we all ordered the Sea Bass given the high remarks we had heard, and it did not disappoint at all. It was delicious and definitely worth the price point. Perfectly salted butter, and the taste reminded me of sourdough but the texture of the bread itself was like a very crispy crunchy outer layer over a martin's potato roll. - The Grand (3/5): I learned that I am definitely not a shellfish person.. so keep in mind of my biased take! I wish the waiter explained what came on our plate, but he quickly scooted away. The scallops were my favorite. Nice and mild and sweet flavor. The grand also came with 6 sauces to pair. Wasn't sure which sauce went best with which, but doesn't hurt to try? shell on shrimp and lobster claw were the second and third bests in my opinion. - Grilled Black-eyed Perch (4/5): got a smaller 1.2 lb fish. Can get it grilled and fried. Fried is ~$4 more. This fish was around 38-39/lb at the time of writing. Flavors were so great! Not a bony fish at all and didn't have to really pick at it. A tad dry in certain parts, but again, nice salty, zesty from the lemon and herbaceous. This place is definitely on the $$$ side, so can see ppl coming here for special occasions.

This was while the place was practically empty, so I'm not sure what else could have been occupying their time. Second, I ordered the pork shoulder stir fry which wasn't bad but had several large pieces of pure fat & gristle in it that I felt a high quality restaurant would have taken out of the dish. It's indicative of lazy & careless food preparation skills. Also, the basmati rice was very under-cooked...some pieces were even crunchy. Lastly, after leaving the place, I realized that I accidentally left my sunglasses there. So I called later that evening to inquire if they had found them. I discovered they route all incoming calls to a bot that instantly made me feel unimportant and unappreciated. What's worse is it tried to connect me with someone in the restaurant, but kept looping back into its own messaging narrative. What an absolute PITA. This enables me to make a broader point: Restaurants have to get it through their heads that cutting costs has negative impact on customer experience, putting the lifeblood of their business into jeopardy. Take the widespread adoption of QR code-based menus during COVID...how many restaurants do you know actually switched back to real menus after COVID passed? The answer is very few. The reason why? They are too stingy to pony up the dough and ignore the benefit to the customer experience. They figure, 'people already know how to do that so why spend the money on printing up menus anymore?". They couldn't care less about what customers might actually enjoy more, and that's the real travesty. If restaurants are going to force their customers into a self-serve model (as so many have nowadays), then why bother tipping anyone? I am so fed up of a world where the idolatry of wealth has surpassed the appreciation and value of real, engaging human experiences. The Central Bar + Restaurant could help reverse this course if they ever decide to they put customer experience first instead of their own profits. UPDATE: Added one star because they actually had my shades...went ot go pick them up today.
