They jokingly tease me for being "a bit posh for around here", which is quite the compliment for a girl from Coseley. The fresh and locally reared meat is excellent quality, I'm a big fan of their smoked streaky bacon. They will happily order in more obscure cuts if you ask in advance. The best thing about Scriven and Thornton's has to be the deli counter. It is piled high with all sorts of cooked meats, pies, cheeses and Scotch eggs. They also serve the most incredible hot pork sandwiches - complete with crackling, applesauce and bread dipped in gravy. Understandably, the queue gets big at lunchtimes.

This one is slightly better than the Peter Gumbley outlet around the corner on Pershore Road and also doubles as a deli, with a fair selection of meats and cheeses. This place starts and finishes earlier than its rival around the corner, and if you go in after 3pm you are more than likely to find them clearing up for the day as they close at 4pm. All in all, though, a very good butchers.

The staff are clean and wear hair nets and gloves. They are really friendly and chatty nice service. They are open six days a week. They usually have special offers in the window and I usually get the offers as its nice for a change and you can freeze them and because I know the quality is really good. Would recommend having a look and buying some pork sausages from here they are really yummy and you can tell the difference from fresh ones and frozen ones.
