Another great evening at Bistro 12. MAKE A RESERVATION!!!! I won't bore you with our excellent dinner choices because everything you've already read is completely true! But this time we actually saved room for dessert and ordered the chocolate mousse cake and limoncello pie. Both were PHENOMENAL! (And I don't usually rave about desserts because I could make most of them better at home.) These were worthy and made with love . The owners make you feel like you're spending a meal at their home in Portugal. They are gracious and generous. You never feel rushed. We ordered 2 glasses of dessert wine (there were 4 of us at the table.) Soon after the two glasses came, the owner smiled and dropped off the rest of the bottle (about half filled) and two more glasses Make sure to mention if you're celebrating something special. I won't spoil the surprise, but it'll make your special evening even more special!

There's a reason why after 8 years we returned... Bistro 12 is a true gem located in Tarrytown. The owner is extremely friendly (and check out his colorful artwork along the walls). The staff is friendly, the food is delicious. We found street parking easily and can't recommend this restaurant enough... go check it out!

Amazing! Small but excellent. We had risotto with filet mignon and the ravioli tartufata which was delicious. Great place to get dinner before a show across the street.

Seeing a concert and searched for a nearby dining spot. This showed up with great reviews and directly across the street from the Music Hall. In summary - what a gem! Great food and service. Cozy. Do try this - you will not be disappointed. Damages for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, one dessert, 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, and holiday tip were $200. A bargain. They served a leisurely meal in 1.25 hours allowing us enough time to walk across the street for the show. Fabulous restaurant located right across the street from the Terrytown music Hall. We didn't have a reservation but went quite early, so the restaurant was still empty. By the time we left, every table was occupied. I noticed people simply walking by to say hello to the owners/proprietors. Clearly, these folks are established in the neighborhood and certainly very well liked. The menu is eclectic and has Portuguese, Italian and French influenced options. My only reservation was that "rabbit" was on the menu. That's a hard "no" since I had a pet bunny and he was my soulmate. Just can't eat rabbit and often don't even go to restaurants that have bun bun on the menu. But, I hadn't examined the menu prior to going...and ultimately glad we chose Bistro 12. Great service, delicious food. I had an arugula salad and followed up with a delicious, light seafood-lemon based pasta dish. The mix of lobster, shrimp and scallops were chopped into small pieces and the lemon sauce perfectly complimented the thin pasta. The bread and butter alone-I could make a meal out of that! Crusty on the outside...hot and perfectly bready on the inside...I stopped myself after 2 pieces. It wasn't easy. Others at the table had beet salad, butternut squash soup, bolognese and seafood risotto. Rave reviews. Excellent quality food-I'm definitely going back.

I came here with my boyfriend and his parents. We made reservations in advance. We were seated right away by the window-the best seat in the house! They started by taking our drink order and then served us warm bread with butter. So delicious! I ordered the monkfish curry while the rest of the group ordered the chicken and chicken with artichoke. I would say no one person absolutely loved their meal but it was all quality and tasty. Our server was a sweetheart.

We came on a Saturday night around 8:00pm and the restaurant was packed, with diners filling every room and even the bar area. Thankfully we had reservations and were seated right away. Parking can get tight on busy nights, so we used the valet, which made things easier. We started with a table favorite, chouriço, perfect for sharing while settling in. I ordered one of my go-to Portuguese dishes, Carne à Alentejana, tender cubes of pork loin sautéed with little neck clams, wine, and fresh cilantro. It delivered exactly what I was hoping for, savory, balanced, and deeply comforting. Others at the table enjoyed the broiled Mediterranean octopus and the Chilean sea bass with caper sauce, both well prepared. Service was attentive throughout, and they even offer to take a table photo for you. Portions are generous, the dining room is spotless, and the classic crumb-scraping after the meal is a nice old-school touch. Short of heading to Newark's Portuguese enclave, this is one of the best options in the area.

The service - well you feel like family. We did a tasting menu that the chef planned. 8 courses (plus bread service). Dessert was served in the kitchen. All courses had a beverage pairing. Menu: Beet / yogurt pairing with little hints of different flavors that surprise you in a good way Tomato soup (cold) - not like anything I have had before. The father of the chef grows the little tomatoes - maybe grape tomatoes. Not sure. The best tomato soup I have ever had - there were three small tomatoes floating in the soup. So tender (no skin). Wow! Raw yellow tail with two differed sauces that you combined it all together - super fresh fish, amazing sauces - I really can't find the words to do justice for this dish. Even my husband who doesn't eat any sushi had this. And loved it. Seas bass on fava bean sauce - likely the best seas bass I have had. I'm used to Black Sea bass off the boat in Montauk; hard to beat this and they did! Tiger prawn tempora - this was served with a cold beer. Omg. I will never have tempora without a beer again. (I generally don't drink beer.) The batter was exceptionally light, the flavor if the prawn shined. Sockeye salmon on rice - I am not explaining this properly. Wowowow Filet beef with a concentrated au ju - perfectly prepared ... so flavorful. So good. Dessert: tiramisu, two different decadent cookies small and wow. Chocolate truffle (maybe not the right word) but wow We started with champagne, had white wine, red wine, beer, and port. The wines were from Portugal and were sulfite free. And they were spectacular in their own right and perfect pairing with the food. We were here for a big bday cele - it was so special. I will never forget! And I look forward to going back. There's a small parking lot in the rear and a bigger lot across the street, although both can fill up when the restaurant gets busy. This place gets absolutely packed and I think it's simply because the food is good. It's not cheap -- in fact, some prices will make you do a double take (yes, olives for $16). Wine by the glass is steep too. That said, some things feel like a much better value. Our "half" pitcher of sangria basically came in a full-sized pitcher filled more than halfway and tasted great. Plenty for two. A lot of the menu is also easily shareable. We split the beet salad and it was big... enough for a couple. Fresh, flavorful and satisfying. Then we shared the paella Valenciana, another huge portion loaded with fatty chorizo, chicken, shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in flavorful saffron rice. Really balanced ratio of seafood, meat and rice instead of just being a giant pile of filler. Btw -- it gets friggin loud in here. Families with kids, couples, groups of friends, older folks... the whole place was buzzing. Pretty wild atmosphere. It's also very casual for a place serving food at these prices -- servers walking around in jeans, energetic vibe, packed tables everywhere. Service was a little meh. Adequate, but nothing friendly. I'm also not a fan of places where the waiter clears appetizer plates but deliberately leaves the dirty fork sitting on the table for the next course. Bleh. Overall though, the food is legitimately very good. Expect a loud, busy dinner with strong portions, tasty sangria, a specials menu without prices and a 3% credit card fee added at the end.

At the salad bar, I got some cheese, prosciutto, rice, potato salad, green beans, asparagus and potatoes au gratin. The only thing I found worth getting again was the potato salad but I didn't even need it because the mashed potatoes they bring out were enough for me, they're pretty good. I didn't like how the vegetables were all cold. The potatoes au gratin were warm but weren't good in my opinion but I was here for the steak so let's get to it: Picanha top sirloin - fire honestly, my favorite. Perfectly cooked. No notes whatsoever. This heavily weighed my rating. Tri tip - Pretty good taste, could've been more rare in my opinion. Flank - Okay, a little tougher than I was expecting. Garlic steak - Tough, not garlicky enough, overdone :/ not good. Barbeque ribs - Alot of cartilage, flavor was fine, not my favorite especially when there's steak involved. Bacon-wrapped filet - it was first brought out well done so I asked if they had it more rare. The server was nice enough to put in a medium rare request for me! He came back in about 5-10 minutes and it was more medium than rare (he asked me if it was alright and I lied because I didn't want to cause more stress so that's on me lol) I will say that it was definitely more rare than that first one and was more tender than the garlic steak but it fully absorbed the bacon flavor and it was a bit too much for me to enjoy. Other notes: I avoided the chicken because I remembered that it tends to be dry and I was right based on my family's reactions. I'm not a huge fan of sausage but my brother did have three of them so they're probably good lmao. The bananas are a good palate cleanser for in between and after. Since my birthday is coming up, I got a piece of the banana's foster pie and it was good! Just could do without the nuts inside personally. I would try something else next time probably. I think overall, Texas de Brazil is a bit hit or miss but I do enjoy the experience of trying and comparing different cuts, and there are some really good ones that make it worth it especially when I've been to expensive steakhouses that definitely don't have anything as good as that amazing picanha steak.
