During a walking tour of this…read morecity we saw this place and the local guide explained it was the oldest bar in the Netherlands. Not a beer drinker, but when in Rome... The beer selection was great and they even have their own special brew. The bartender was very gracious, masterfully dealing with the crowded bar filled with locals and us. At the end, he even brought us the house specialty of a home brewed sweet liquor. Very nice touch.

de Blauwe Hand has a special place in my heart and is my go-to place for pretty much anything…read morebar-related in Nijmegen. Agree with the other reviewers that it's a tight fit, however people are generally accommodating and nice here. It's just got that good feel. Watch out for the buffalo grass vodka. They have a SOLID often-changing draft beer selection and they are the only place you can get de hemel "rooie tip top" which is a can't miss. Food is lekker also.

Mind…read moreyou, it isn't as if Arnhem is a big place, but still this bar does have a huge amount of character, and quite a few decent beers on tap as well. Mind you, since I was in Arnhem I had to find out which was the number one bar, visit it, and write a review on it, which is obviously what I have just done. Mind you, it was pretty crowded, but then again it was a Thursday night, and summer. The atmosphere was electric, and they even had a pool table (something that I hadn't seen in many, if any, or the other bars that I have visited so far). The other thing is that it is not located in the major part of the old town, but still this bar does draw a fair number of partons.

Well, I decided to stick my head down a narrow alley and discovered this small bar advertising craft beers. Well, having just been in Germany for a week and having to deal with a less than impressive range of beers (and no craft beers) I ducked in here, and sure enough they had a pretty impressive range of craft beers. Mind you, the place isn't all that large, and while there are some seats out the front, there aren't actually that many, however it is the beer than drew me here, and they certainly provided that. Further more, this was a taste of what I have later come to experience in the Netherlands

Can pay by card, and chat away to friendly staff. My one gripe is that you pay per drink, rather than starting a tab. Would recommend.
