This café can be reached via the garden of the museum of sculptures (http://www.liebieghaus.de/lh/index.php?StoryID=1&webs... (http://www.liebieghaus.de/lh/index.php?StoryID=1&websiteLang=en) ) - well worth a visit and probably the most serene escape from the Frankfurt city life. And it is within walking distance of the Schweizer Strasse, making it an ideal spot to recover from a spot of shopping.
The café offers a selection of cakes and delicatessen salads (and sometimes a soup or two), which you order and collect from the counter. Oh and you also are expected to take your used cutlery and crockery to a trolly, this place is not for the lazy!
If the weather is nice you can sit outside in the lovely garden area - seat cushions and blankets are provided in said trolleys should it be chilly.
If the weather is too dismal to sit outside, you can sit in the Liebighaus's former kitchen and hunting trophy rooms. The atmosphere is intellectual and relaxed. The café is closed on Mondays, see the provided link for opening times, and it is table service only on Sundays. Don't get there too late or else the yummy mummies will descend upon this lovely spot, screaming kids in tow.
