There is something so soothing about coming to an establishment and knowing that every single time you will get the same quality service and the same quality food. I've been ordering the baby artichokes, sexy fries and Strawberry Caipiroska for probably 15+ years and never once have they tasted different. They are always exceptional. I've never had a bad bar tender or wait person. The manager is the same manager. Just like always I came to get some good food and drinks and it felt like coming home. My waitress tonight is Lindsay, she has a huge dazzling smile, was so sweet and makes a killer Strawberry Caipiroska. It's just me tonight, yet I don't feel alone. I've never been here when it's empty and the bustling noise is so comforting when you're at the bar during happy hour. Around 4 PM people start to form a line to get in for happy hour, where drinks and culinary delights are half price. The menu is California cuisine, The tables are nicely decorated, and the aroma is garlic and butter with a hint of Korean barbecue sauce. From the manager to the server, all hands are on deck to ensure everyone is served in a timely manner. I enjoy the "tapas style" dining and sampling different menu items. The food was great, no complaints at all. I had a mock tail. I forgot the name of the drink but found it really refreshing and tasty. I ordered "sexy fries" and they are good French fries but they're just French fries lol! For dinner I ordered a bistro burger and let me tell you...it's a pretty hefty burger. We visited Napa Bistro on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour. I knew this place was a popular and beloved happy hour spot, but I did not understand until I saw the very long line of people waiting for the doors to open more than half an hour before the restaurant opened! We ended up getting the last two seats at the counter where they prepare the food. We ordered two drinks, a flatbread, and truffle fries. The drinks were good, but not great. The flatbread and truffle fries were to die for. Given that it's such a popular and busy happy hour spot, the employees have their service route down. There was one waitress taking every table's order and it was clear she had a system in place. She came around for drink orders first and then later for the food. Since they are so busy, the service is a bit spotty and impersonal, but that's to be expected! Overall, I love that Napa Bistro has great drink and food deals for happy hour. I'll definitely be back, but will probably arrive earlier to get a better seat. read more

TLDR: 5 Stars for Happy Hour only A plate of 6 large pork ribs for $9? A flatbread pizza for $9? Excellent CRUNCHY fries that happen to come with $8 steak sliders? YEAH! Only downside... although it opens at 4p, you gotta get in line by 3p on the weekends. Weekday... MAYBE 3:30p and you'd be ok. We made the mistake of showing up at 4p, and we had to wait for the second seating. We also had 6 people and stuck at a tiny table. We could only fit 3 apps at a time, so we had to kinda rush to clean the plates before the next app came. Most of the food was pretty delicious, the only one that I actively didn't like... the Tacos. The tortilla shell they use tasted very supermarket. The ingredients were ok, but not as WOW. It's not worth the price. Another one that isn't worth the price is the clams. It was ok. But for $20... I'd rather eat 2 plates of ribs. BEST deals are definitely the pork ribs. They are not tiny... and you get a BIG plateful. It's more entree-portioned than the other dishes. And ALL for $9! THe other one that's a super value is any of the flatbread pizzas. Again the portion straddles the line between app and entree. It was really good. Sliders were ok, but you only get 2. It's reasonable priced. The fries are REALLY good though. So instead of just ordering the sexy fries ($6), just pay the extra $3 and you get 2 hamburgers. So if you want a great deal, delicious food, go to Napa, but make sure to get there EARLY. Because the happy hour only lasts 2 hours, and there's probably only 2 seatings. We ordered 13 items (apps + cocktails) and the total bill was only $110! With tax and tip, it turned out to be around $20 per person! This has to be one of the best values in Reno! I'm just surprised this is my first time here... because apparently it's been around for a while. read more

After my last review management reached out to me in regards to the poor experience and offered me a better experience if I came back in. David set up a reservation for us, and we went back. Very quick seating ,and the polite waitress told us of the specials and got our waters and drink order. We ordered the fish sliders and Thai beef lettuce wraps. Both were very tasty and fresh. We really like the batter on the fish, and the cabbage was delightful and not too stacked on. The beef wraps were springy and light. Although it was busier this time due to the steakhouse being closed down, we were served promptly and politely. Went for my birthday on a Saturday evening. We had reservations for 7:00. We showed up 10 minutes early and were seated within 5 minutes. We were a party of 3. Food - 4 stars. Everything was good. Margarita pizza, prime rib, and sea bass, grilled asparagus. Bread to start. One "meh" thing was the prime rib, which was barely warm. Not worth complaining about or sending back but could have been warmer. Perfect cut and cook though. Good flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. Also enjoyed the mixed drinks. Everything we tried lacked seasoning and flavor, which made the experience feel like a complete letdown. The food felt old and dull with nothing special to it, the prices are extremely high for what you get. Perhaps I never ordered it before, because if I got strips before, I would never order it again. And, besides, the marinara sauce was cold. But that's my personal preference. The clams were delicious as always, the pork bao buns were yummy, slider were good. Drinks (although I didn't drink today) are usually amazing. My friends totally enjoyed their drinks. It is a fantastic deal - half off everything in the bar area, though it is a limited menu. They have tons of great Gluten free options - I love getting oysters, lettuce wraps, clams and ahi crudo. My favorite Happy Hour in Reno, everything is half-price, and it's Happy Hour every day from 4 pm - 6 pm! I recommend getting here early because there's always a line before it opens. If there's a line, you can put your name down, order drinks at the bar, and wait at the seats outside the restaurant. They would call out your name when seats open up. I have tried a wide selection of their offerings. My favorites so far are the fresh oysters, steamed manilla clams, sexy fries, crispy buttermilk calamari, and prime rib sliders. Everything is delicious and so worth it. For drinks, I really enjoyed the Pink Parasol. They switched out my favorite non-alcoholic drink which was the Rosemary Hauler, but that's okay. Dined on a Thursday evening with 2 others. Seating was immediate and we sat in the casual lounge, which is spacious and more open than the dining room. Erick was our server, and he did outstanding taking care of us. They have an expansive food menu plus a decent drink list. We started with cocktails, and my typical vodka martini was served nicely chilled as requested. I received one pimento stuffed olive and one blue cheese (my request). That was fine as these appeared to be prestuffed. Bread - I am normally not a bread person, but the bread was fantastic. A soft roll with some textures around the swirls contained some herbs and a nice surprise of cheese. Appropriately softened butter accompanied. I started with a shrimp cocktail. 5 large shrimp were served with some seaweed salad and some root veggies. The cocktail sauce needed more horseradish. But the shrimp were generous sized and delicious. My main was the 14 ounce prime rib. I requested French fries in lieu of fingerling potatoes. My rare temp request was close. It was a good piece of meat - decent sized spinalis (cap) made it... other than that, not super tender in the eye, but about average. Creamy and raw horseradish plus a small side of au jus were on the side. The au jus needed a bit more salt or body. The fries were very good - matchstick like, which I like once in a while. I don't think I touched the veggies. Haha. Dessert were homemade donuts with whipped cream, butterscotch, dark chocolate, and lingonberry sauces. The dessert was fantastic!! Erick our server brought out some complimentary cotton candy as we had commented on it as a dessert choice. My dining partners had a bowl of chicken tortilla soup, lobster Mac and cheese (which was YUMMY!), and the wagyu cheeseburger. All the food choices looked delicious. The best happy hour restaurant in Reno, this place is one of my favorite places to eat in Reno hands down! Not only because the food served is of great quality but the fact that these dishes offered during happy hour is 1/2 priced is what makes a visit absolutely worth it (I would not pay full price for any of the dishes). Happy hour is from 4-6PM daily and there is usually a long line leading up to 4PM when they open doors. I recommend getting there 30 minutes prior to ensure a spot. Recommended dishes (AKA dishes that I always get every visit!): Sexy Fries, Steamed Manila Clams, Korean BBQ Pork Belly Bao Buns, Butternut Squash & Pumpkin Ravioli, Fresh Oysters In terms of drinks, I recommend the Jalamango. Cons: You are either seated at low rise table, high rise table, or bar facing the kitchen. I would wait to get seated at a low rise table or the bar because the high rise tables don't have a lot of space! Every time we go, my friends and I order a lot of food. It can get overwhelming when the table is completely full but there's no space for the waiters to place the dishes. We would have to even put the menu in our laps or the sides of our chairs because there was no room on the table which can be uncomfortable. Additionally, this leads to the waiter taking our dishes right away as soon as it looks like we finished them even though we weren't completely done with them (Ex. finishing all of the clams in the steamed manila clam dish but still sipping on the broth!) in order to place more of our ordered dishes down. It was very lemony, I prefer more the fettuccine cream sauce myself but the chunks of seafood were enormous! The shrimps were like baby lobster! It was packed with seafood. My hubs got the calamari steak which I liked even more than mine. The calamari was cooked perfectly, lightly breaded. It also came with the same lemon pepper pasta. Back again for a couple of happy hours, and dinner in the main restaurant. First shout out goes to all the incredible staff we encountered. The host, hostess, waiter, waitresses, and busboy all stood out as exceptional and kind. The ambiance in the bar area and restaurant are both really pretty. Kind of an old world feel. Happy hour is great, with good food & cocktails, and you can't beat half off everything from 4-6pm. Get here early, as the line starts forming at 3p and gets LONG! My husband had been to dinner in the restaurant a few times and raved about the food. It was my first time, and the first time for our guests. We all agreed the food left a lot to be desired, and were disappointed. I got the steak frites, and felt I could make a better tasting steak at home. My husband got veal, and said it was bland and the noodles didn't pair well. We shared escargot and bone marrow, and both weren't as good as we have had in the past. Legit the BEST happy hour (HH) in Reno! If you're in town for an event definitely show up early bc there will be a line to get in before the doors open. You can't beat the prices of the drinks for what you get. Their wine pour is 8oz, which is 1/3 of a bottle. The martinis are all delicious + every cocktail is made by hand with (majority) fresh ingredients. They're known for their sliders + pizza but the artichoke hearts are a fave of mine as well. If you see Mr. Christian (the sommelier) definitely say hi! He is a wealth of knowledge + wants to make sure everyone is having a good time. We came here for a lunch on a holiday weekend. This was my first time here and I was a little disappointed. Especially since a few people I know highly recommend this place. Now my experience is a little biased because we came at happy hour. I'm sure if you dine in at a different time you would have a different experience probably. We had a large group with us about about 12 people and there was like your own self seating situation going on. I felt like it was hunger games for the tables and chairs. When I first got here, I parked in the parking lot in front where the gambling sports games are so it was a conundrum to even find this restaurant. That was the first challenge. The second challenge was with the self seating, but we made it work. Lastly the finale challenge was the splitting of our bill for a large party. The food was good. Since it was happy hour it was actually 50% off which is pretty cool. The size of the portions was actually quite small. Since this was my first time there, I didn't know if they had a different menu to choose from when it was not happy hour. Our party was so big we had a couple waiters helping us and I felt like they were trying to be a flexible as possible with the circumstances. Unfortunately, when it was time to pay the bill, it was a little bit of a headache. Basically they told us that they couldn't do multiple tabs because we're all in one party so we had to divvy up how much was gonna go on each card. When I come back again, I will probably come for lunch in like a one on one situation to avoid all the hassle of splitting the payments multiple ways. Overall the experience was meh.
