Well family, for Father's Day I tribe decided to take the fathers back to eat at one of my favorite restaurants : bistro on the greens. I just love and enjoy the whole vibe of the place. There's beautiful artwork on every wall accolades for the chef and the creator of the menu at this restaurant. Yesterday, they had live jazz and the group was very good. This was my third time going and it never disappoints. Because of the size of a party, we were blessed with two servers. I cannot remember their names forgive me. I attempted to take pictures of everyone's meals, but because our party was kind of large I did not get all of the pictures. This particular restaurant with its location, sitting on the Greene of their golf course take my breath away every visit. It is a great place for a first date. Overall experience, is definitely five stars. If I could give more stars I would because they truly deserve it. read more

Very nice place with live jazzy piano. Southern favorites were really tasty. My dirty martini was the oddest tasting DM I've ever had. I don't think the bartender knew how to make them. Service was good and chef came out to chat with us. We will come back. read more

I went for the filet mignon and it honestly melted in my mouth. Super tender and cooked exactly to order. The red wine reduction on top gave it a nice extra touch. The sides were great too--I had the truffle fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Staff was kind and didn't rush us even though it was a bit busy. The restaurant felt welcoming and warm. Sara was a wonderful server and the food was delicious! Amazing ambiance and service!

Sarah was great as our waitress. The atmosphere and food was beyond great. Will be going back in the future to listen to the live jazz.

Our main entrees were decent. The sides lacked in many areas. The waitress staff was clearly over booked and struggled to keep up. The over all look and feel of the building was nice. We got free dessert for our wait time and issues with our food. However it did not make up for the overall experience. For the price point and the experience we had i would not recommend. read more

My husband and I had a very relaxing and delicious experience at Bistro on the Greens last night! I ordered the salmon and shrimp and the fish was prepared perfectly! The shrimp was also very tasty. We shared a crab cake for an appetizer and loved the crispy outside and crab meat flavor inside. My husband had the jambalaya and said it was the best he ever had. We moved from south Louisiana to Northern Indiana 17 years ago and our search for comparable Louisiana Cajun food has been fruitless at best and usually disastrous ... until now. This place is AWESOME! It can not only compete down south, it'd be one of the best places around. Up here, no competition. It's at least an hour or more from our house, but we will be making the trip until we've had everything on the menu and then keep coming back. read more

the ambiance and atmosphere was perfect and beautiful. low lighting with beautiful paintings and a piano. service was amazing and helpful. i loved the candle at every table. beautiful everything, but the the food did not match the environment. i had a cheddar biscuit and it tasted like it was frozen and put into a microwave. this place had so much potential but no follow through. my food wasn't good and was a stomachache waiting to happen. it honestly made me think about throwing up. didn't even take my leftovers home. asparagus was okay and so were the mashed potatoes. read more

Husband and I went on last Friday, specifically for fried green tomatoes and they did not disappoint. I had the ribeye which was cooked perfect. My husband had a bowl of gumbo and the bourbon chicken. He enjoyed both, but they gave him so much gumbo he took half of his chicken home. The drinks we ordered were delicious and they do not water them down!!! Found this place as I was searching for a Cajun/Creole restaurant outside fo the South Bend area. This restaurant did not disappoint. I had the Seafood Gumbo and Crawfish Etouffee. Both were great and full of flavor. Definitely one of the best bowls of gumbo I've ever had and the crawfish etouffee was really good as well. I liked the spicyness in the etouffee. Our server was great and was very attentive. The atmosphere was very laid back, and we had a great view of the golf course from our table. We had a beautiful date night at Bistro on the Greens. The atmosphere, music, artwork, architecture and outdoor scenery were amazing! This restaurant is sexy y'all! My favorites were the grilled salmon (it was a tad heavy on the salt but very juicy) and cheddar biscuits. My handsome date, Bryan, had the fried chicken with greens and he ate every bite even though he is not a fan of white meat (he prefers dark but dark meat is not offered here). Chef John came to our table and talked to us personally, at length. I watched him greet every guest with sincere warmth and gratitude. The staff is so friendly and I am personally impressed with Chef John's dedication to employing individuals that are differently abled. Had reservations at 4:15pm for 7(they opened at 4:00), Was a bit disappointed that they were not ready for us and we had to wait. Definitely was not a lot of people waiting to get in. Was seated by the kitchen rather than a nice view of the outside (keep in mind we made reservations 10 days in advance.) Selection seemed to be smaller than expected and everything was a la carte. Disappointed in the Alligator appetizer which (for the price) in very small well breaded pieces. Fried green tomatoes (for the price) a bit over breaded. It well represented. Main course for me was the shrimp creole which was ok with the small mound of rice in the middle. Desserts (choice of only 2) in my opinion was very small portioned. That said about the dinners, the drink menu was outstanding! We tried about 4 different drinks, definitely the saving Grace of the dinner. Service was excellent and we were well taken care of. Outstanding meals enjoyed by our family of 6. My grandson who always orders chicken Parmesan said this was the best he'd ever eaten including in Italy! Outstanding ambiance, magnificent cuisine. I had the Shrimp Etouffee, it was delicious. The servings were generous, had to take the remainder home. The wait staff was on point, and the Chef/Owner was very friendly, and provided everything I asked for. To top of the scrumptious meal, I had peach cobbler and a large scoop of ice cream. We drove from South Bend to LaPorte, it was worth the ride. When I am back in the South Bend area, I will certainly make it a point to partake. What a beautiful place and wow were they accommodating. We celebrated a retirement with some friends and had a wonderful time. John the chef and owner was quick with response and visited the table to make sure we were happy. The service is very kind but misses a couple marks. Starter salads and soups were delivered with entrees. Lots of auctioning of food and drinks at the table. I had the rib tips and shrimp and grits starters for my meal. They were both flavorful but the tips had little meat. Grits were cheesy goodness and the shrimp were prepared perfectly. Live piano music is a nice touch. read more
