I call it that, because I can never remember the German word for it. It's actually the pig trotters or a piece of meat around a big bone like you would see in one of the Flintstone movies. Our case find the reserved table. Definitely not a welcoming atmosphere. Plus: every other table which would seat 6 was used by 2 people only. As they are not seated here people tend to use what they see fit for themselves. The restaurant could make more profit and increase happiness by seating people according to the server capacity and free space. We had to wait to get our bill as the service doesn't really race to service the customer. If they have one table with more rotation on happy customer, they would increase the profit. Seems to be not occurred to the management of the Bavaria Alm.

The Klausenhof is situated below the "famous" Hanstein Castle which is 800 years old this year. The inn is owned by Manuela and Klaus Röhrig who have worked very, very hard. My parents live in Neu-Eichenberg. This is where I was brought up, too. Before the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 I could always see the Hanstein Castle. In the early nineties I got to know the Klausenhof. I used to eat grandmother's soup there very often which was barley soup. Ground pork meat (Gehaktes) - fresh with onions on fresh crusty bread is delicious there, too. I like drinking elderflower juice when I go there or elderflower wine or their own brewed beer. In 2007 the Klausenhof has won an award for the best regional cuisine and traditional cuisine in Thuringia, quite an achievement. I take visitors here who come from all parts of Germany, England and Wales. You can stay there overnight. Sitting outside in the spring and summer is also an experience!
