Cafe on the top floor of the Opera Del Duomo Museum with a beautiful view of the Tower. It's the only eating establishment within the Square, and is marketed as the cafeteria within the museum. It's a bit more than that: it's a sit-down restaurant, with fine-dining traits, including a large buffet brunch on Sundays. You are given a QR code to enter when you check into the museum.
We were seated with a nice view of the Tower, and a formal menu was given. Ordered Bagel Sandwich (Bagel Unvo strapazzato, Bacon) (10€). It was a poppy seed bagel, with excellent scrambled eggs, bacon slice, cheddar cheese slice. It was really good. I had a Club Sandwich (15€)...not good. Very little meat. Really liked the tomatoes. The bacon was good quality. But the sandwich itself was the thickness of a big grilled cheese sandwich, and 90% of that was not very good bread. It came with some excellent French fries, though, and they gave me plenty of packets of ketchup and mustard. Also ordered the house draft beer. I think the waiter got my order wrong (or they ran out and didn't tell me)...he gave me a craft Belgian tripel coming in a bottle. The first two, kept on overfoaming when he tried opening it, so he decided to just give me a saison after about 5 minutes of waiting...not sure why he didn't serve the other beer to me too, since it was going to waste. None of it was the promised 0.5 liters of draft beer. It was quite good, but 10 € is a lot for a bottle of beer in Italy. He got into a bad mood because the mess the original beer caused...not sure why that was my fault (maybe he was thinking why was this tourist ordering a beer in Italy). Wasn't the type of place where you want to make a fuss, so left it as is.
We finished by 12:50, and paid up front. We then continued our tour of the museum. read more
