We then finished it off with a unique and delicious and a wonderful tiramisu. All meals and deserts were massive and delicious. We had a glass of house white and a bottle of water (which was good and great value). All in it cost us a very reasonable €55. You really can't beat that for the quality, size and taste in Central Paris. We will definitely return here again!!

I found it by chance on my way up to the Place du Tertre. The owner, Robert, has been the same for decades. When you enter the place, it feels like nothing has changed in Paris. In summer, you can have lunch or dinner in the beautiful garden (look at the pictures!). The cuisine here is old fashioned but that's what we want, don't we? So I tried the snails. They were quite tasty. Just the way they should be. Then we had the most interesting part of our meal. My lunch companion had a big breast chicken with home-made grilled potatoes. There was a salad with cream on the side. Tasty and a quite big portion for a girl! She ate everything anyway and left nothing. I chose the steak with potatoes. That was yummy! To go with our meal, we enjoyed a a great Côte de Bourg, Chateau Barbe, 2005. Then we had a mango sorbet. Nice. But the one of the house specialty, the tarte Tatin (a caramelized apple pie) was absolutely fantastic! I really recommend you this place. It was only the second day that the bar had been open. The three guys behind the bar, two were owners I believe, were great. ...especially to non-French speaking Americans. By the end of the night we felt like we were friends with not only them but with everyone else in the bar as well. This was by far the best spot my husband and I had drinks at in Paris! We walked inside and it was almost completely empty except for 2 people and the bar tender. We stood there for a few minutes and the bard tender noticed us and started to bring bar menus over to us. My girlfriend was looking at the decor and did not notice him dancing trying to make eye contact with her but I laughed thinking he was joking around. After a few mins of no one else talking to us he returned and while drinking made eye contact with me. I speak no French so I told him in English we were here for dinner. He responded by saying that as we can see it is very busy but he will ask his boss. Which I took as sarcasm. He went outside and talked with the people out there before returning inside. When he came in he said there was a party of 22 there and that he could not seat us, pointing towards the empty dining room. I took this as sarcasm but his face was straight and he stared at us. My girlfriend was obviously uncomfortable so we chose to leave. He did not say anything after we turned our backs and walked away. I would think that anyone who was being sarcastic would say "oh no we have room I was joking". Maybe he wants to keep the tourists away from this bar in a touristy area, but either way it was not a very welcoming feeling this man gave us. Upon finding a cafe that had outdoor heat lamps (a nice bonus), and several tables with French patrons enjoying drinks, we thought we had found the right place. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes for the bartender/server to take our order. If he had been crazy-busy, I might have understood. However, when 3 French patrons sat down 5 minutes after we had been seated, he had fetched them drinks within 60 seconds of their being seated. Then, a few minutes after that, he got around to asking for our drink order. My wife tried ordering one of their selection of pizzas on the menu. The server replied, "no. No pizza here." We pointed to the menu, showing him it was their menu, with a variety of pizzas. He said, "you want pizza, you go next door." So, that was odd. Instead, we each ordered cheese burgers. They were freshly-made, and they did arrive quickly after we ordered. But, they were disappointing. Bland flavor. The fries were a miss, too. No seasoning or flavor to speak of. Lastly, the bill came to 30 Euros. That's a fair chunk of change for 2 weak burgers and two lemonades.

After 3 plus years in Paris, I have found one. This place offers a complete buffet (entree, main, and dessert) for about 11euros or 12 euros on the weekend and holidays during lunchtime. It is a steal! The staff is friendly. The place is very clean. The food is delicious! It is a bit heavy on the fried offering (which is why I am in trouble), but there are some delicious healthier options with steamed dumplings and do-it-yourself lettuce wraps. I would definitely recommend this place. Good value for the money, and nipped my craving right in the bud!
