My buddy and I just got out of the Army, this was a big trip for us to celebrate. We paid this guide a lot of money for him to put us into a good spot for mule deer. Did not see a single deer for 7 days. He assured us that we would "have trouble passing on good bucks, but had to hold out for the big ones." Then we went on to see zero deer. Completely oversold and under delivered.
I am a hunter so I understand that is how it goes sometimes, and that he can't control the deer, but when you pay a guide that much money.....and then you don't see a single deer/elk/bear/wolf/mountain lion or anything for seven days...that's pretty terrible. They were nice people, but I would caution everyone against paying them. I don't normally do this, but again...we paid them a LOT of money and got absolutely nothing in return. I expected for him to invites us back, partial refund, or anything to try to right the wrong but he did not.
If I had seen just a few deer then I would not be writing this. But zero animals, just squirrels and grouse. Again, they were very nice people but, take caution. I would take your business elsewhere. read more
