Mikie and Charlotte Nyboe run this full service marina very capably and responsively - they go out of their way to accommodate special requests and make sure the 300 boats under their care are treated well and in the water on time and ready for the Maine sailing season when their owners arrive. This was our experience when we bought an older 26' sailboat from Mikie and had it cleaned, prepped and launched for our arrival in June. I find them trustworthy, friendly and willing to go out of their way to assist, including a rescue I witnessed where Mikie towed a stranded family back to his dock one evening. Bittersweet did a great job this winter with our boat. Stripped the bottom to bare fiberglass, barrier epoxy, bottom paint and new boot stripe. Also installed a new through hull for a galley sink. The long negative review of Bittersweet Landing was clearly written by Gamage. Of all the things you could accuse Bittersweet Landing of, deceit is not one of them. Mike is well-known for his integrity and honesty. He may be a little slow sometimes but he's always available and usually right. Gamage, on the other hand, under the new management, was simply negligent with my boat and then lied repeatedly both about me and the work they had done. Actually, work they had not done. I have been a client of Bittersweet Landing for a year now and I have friends that also have boats stored at this yard and we are very happy with their services and prices. I have researched boat yards all over the state and I like this one because I can work on my boat in the yard, the owner is extremely friendly, you will not beat the prices anywhere in Maine and most of all he gives me free advice. Forget all the cliches you've heard about the saying "too good to be true ". This place IS too good and it IS true! I don't write many reviews so it has to be about something that really impressed me. The level of knowledge, care, concern, attention to detail and level of repair and maintenance they have done on my Friendship Sloop and that I have seen them do on every boat they work on is beyond my highest expectation. And as far as customer interaction goes Mike, Charlotte and the entire boat yard crew are more than friendly; they treat you more like family. I've been to other boat yards, I know how some places see someone "from away" and take advantage of them. NOT HERE! You can't do better than Bittersweet Landing. These guys transformed my 31 year old boat to better than new. Refurbished the old teak decks removed the 34' toerails in one piece for rebedding. They added 14 coats of varnish, flawless varnish, prompting a hinckley sailor to say , "She Gleams". Thank you Bittersweet Landing Boatyard. read more
