Ate there Saturday evening. The service was unbelievably slow. I sat at my table for a good 15 mins before my server took any notice of me. Then it took another 15 mins before she brought me the Pepsi I ordered and took my order. It was half an hour before my soup - now tepid - arrived and another 20 mins before my food came. She had not brought me utensils - I had to go and ask for these. In general I have found service at BJs to be fair to poor, though this was worse than usual. The prices are steep for relatively small portions. Oh, and in the summer the AC is set to arctic, so be sure to bring a jacket. Overall, I recommend looking elsewhere for dining in Bloomington. read more

Our experiences here have been less than pleasing. Our last visit was the final straw. We were seated in the bar and they only had one server taking care of the whole bar. Our server was nice but it was clear that he was hyper focused on catering to the beer drinkers. Everyone around us got their food before us and we waited over an hour to get our food. Once we got our food, it was cold and clearly had sat there a while. We ended up leaving because we were greatly disappointed. I will never go here again. Just awful. My husband and I just ordered a carryout order and when we got a notification that the order was being bagged, my husband went immediately to get it. He waited around for 5 minutes before seeing anyone and then he had to flag down a bartender to go get his order. When we got home his meal was okay but mine was all wrong. I got the prime beef with aus jus however, they completely omitted the aus jus (wtf), and they didn't add any of the toppings I picked to my sandwich (cheese, avocado). Having frequented BJ's in Indianapolis, I was excited when this new restaurant opened in Bloomington. They're basically the same which means HUGE menu (think Cheesecake Factory menu) and have everything you could want. Sandwich, burger, steak, pizza, wraps, Italian, Asian, specialty items, desserts. Pizza is great. Burgers are great. Pizooki (giant cookie covered in ice cream) are great - especially the Monkey Bread one. They have many beers on tap if that's your thing and plenty of TV's near the bar area. Food quality is great, as is the pricing for what you get. If you like Root Beer, they have their own brew on tap and it's fantastic. Highly recommend as a family friendly option in Bloomington! read more

We decided to drive down to Bloomington on Father's Day and try out the new BJ's Brewhouse. I had heard some pretty good things about it. Personally, I would have chosen a different name for the place, if you know what I mean. haha. Bottom line: BJ's Brewhouse gets a Solid 4 stars. A lot of things about the place were really good. We only waited a few minutes to get seated, which surprised me because I expected on Father's Day there would be a big wait anywhere you go. But then, that's pretty typical for Bloomington in the summertime. The waitress came up right away and took our drink orders and appetizer orders. Our main food orders were a mixed bag. I got the full rack of ribs, which was very good, but not the best in Bloomington. They were out of a couple of things we ordered, which was a little bit disappointing, but understandable. Everybody we dealt with there was very nice. I liked the atmosphere. The selection of beer was amazing. I got a dark beer that was kind of a house special and really liked it a lot. The highlight of our experience there was that they gave me a 2017 Father's Day drinking glass. I love it! I will go back to BJ's Brewhouse again and try some more things soon. read more

If you want a good dessert BJ's is the place to go. Their Pizookies are well known in Bloomington for a reason, all of them are very tasty. As far as the food itself I would grade it a soft 6 out of 10. I ordered the shrimp scampi that was fairly decent. The noodles were overcooked and a bit too soft for my liking. I had a few bites out of their bison burger which was pretty good. I'd say come try it out for yourself. read more

Do not recommend. The waitress was high as a kite. She wasn't sure if they had Guiness, didn't no the main prime rib special. She walked away before getting our sides that come with the special. Would have charged us extra for sides salads and dessert if we didn't tell her it came with the special. The bartender made a pink margaritas which was gross, all super. You could taste the sugar granules, little to no alcohol, and didn't pour the Guiness correctly, which made it gross. The waitress tried to rush us out before she gaves us the dessert. Recommend the honey ginger dressing instead of the red wine vinaigrette it comes with on the menu. Flatbread pizza was good and I will order it again, on a Monday when it is half price. I have enjoyed many fine evenings of dining in this place. However, tonight when I wanted to place a delivery order, I have encountered such aggravation that it compels me to write a negative review. Both the app & the web site ordering gave totally pathetic results. After 40 minutes I gave up and posted my frustration to their site. Shortly I received a call from the local restaurant wanting to take my order. I want to support local business in these trying times, but if not for the prompt call I probably would never see. We stopped after an IU basketball game. It was on the way home. We had eaten in the one in Southport. This one had a nice atmosphere, but I have to say the main course was just so so.... The Brussel Sprouts that we had as a side dish stole the show. I guess we should have stuck with bar food for the main course. We both had the Moroccan chicken and it was Luke warm at best. Absolutely terrible service on Wednesday night at the bar from the brunette with curly hair. I never thought I'd get angry asking for ketchup. I looked, waved and finally yelled to get her attention. It would have been nice to be able to order another beer too. She didn't ask once how the food was or if we needed more drinks and acted like everything we asked for was an inconvenience, even though we were ordering from the regular menu with no special requests. Finally, towards the end she disappeared in the back and we never saw her again. Understaffed (even the server complained to us about that). Hot - apparently having an air conditioning issue. The server did her best, but not good enough to pull out of today's absolute failure of management to get the right combination of staff to take care of the customers. Apparently, the management and ownership don't care or should be replaced. But, I'm confident that no one give a sxxxt or will read this review. But, if they do, please get it right and get back to my favorite restaurant. read more

When me and my friend came in they were practically trying to convinced us to leave even though we came in 2 hours before close. I ordered a mojito and it was so sweet I doubt any alcohol actually got put in there so I asked for an extra shot to add to it. Still sweet but better practically tasted like a lemonade. I asked for extra toppings on my salad, asked twice and they charged me $5 for it wtf $5 for a small ass side of croutons tf. My first trip to BJ's was yesterday (January 18, 2019) for lunch. The restaurant was clean & the service was good. I ordered the slow roasted turkey club sandwich ($11.25) and added avocado ($1.50). Overall, the ingredients were decent. The menu states the bread is toasted sourdough. The bread is actually grilled. For some, this may be a non-issue. To me, grilled bread is greasy & on the soggy side. You can see that this is the case based on the photograph I'm attaching. The photograph also shows the avocado add on is not worth it. The avocado is sliced paper thin (each quarter of the sandwich had a slice similar to that in picture). This amount is not enough to add flavor or creamy texture (which would have been negated by the soggy bread anyway). The food menu is large as is the beer menu. My husband had a flatbread that was good but, salty. This is probably not noticeable to people who dine in chain (or fast food) restaurants on a more frequent basis. read more

Regardless, it's close and it's a great place to watch the game and have some good pizza and even roasted Brussels Sprouts. As chains go, BJ's is pretty good in general, but I was especially impressed with our server today. Dacia was wonderful - cheerful, fun, and very good at giving us the best experience possible and making it seem effortless. We had some bumps that were not really anybody's fault - I ordered the lemon thyme chicken because the menu didn't indicate that it had cilantro (it did indicate that other menu items had cilantro, so I assumed it would have mentioned it if it were part of the chicken dish), and lo and behold, it did indeed have cilantro. I have the bad cilantro gene, and it's not too uncommon for this to happen. Usually I chalk it up as a learning experience reminding me I really should ask, but when Dacia realized what was going on, she made it right as quickly as possible. The kitchen was out of the dish, so I ended up getting the kale and Brussels sprouts salad with blackened chicken instead, and it was delicious - the bitterness of the sprouts really balances well with the grapes, blueberries, and strawberry vinaigrette, and the chicken gave it a perfect savory pop. My friends and I made a reservation at BJ's at 8 pm on March 23, 2018 to celebrate our graduation, and the server (I have his name) was anything but respectful and professional with us. He treated us very rude and made us very uncomfortable during our dinner. Whenever we ask a question, he responded with an attitude as if he was forced to address our inquiries, and sometimes he just ignores the question entirely. Not only this but also when he approached to take our order, and we were not yet to decide, we told him if we could have some water until we decide. He replied with a tone and said to us that we better be ready when he gets back with our water! What was shocking is that when we were done and asked for the check, he just threw it on the table in front of us, which was shocking to have such treatment. However, one of my friends talked to him about the attitude and the way he treated us. He did not show any remorse and said that it was our mistake and we were wrong. It was our second time coming to BJ's because we liked the restaurant at first and were looking forward to going back again. But, after the encounter we had with the server, we are saddened that this type of customer care will drive us away to a different place and will not recommend it to anyone we meet. My friends and I had a bad experience, and it just ruined our night, which was supposed to be a celebration. The way that he handled his work was very poor and degrading to us. read more

Their fish tacos are top notch and my grandmother believes this place makes them the best in the world as she has traveled all over. I've been here twice now. The first time was fairly soon after they opened and the second time was last night. They have an absolutely massive menu with tons of options. That usually scares me off as it seems like they can't cook all different types of food well, but so far so good. Sandwiches and burgers are really good. The pizza is awesome! You need to try their deep dish pizzas. I tried their ribs on my first visit and pizza on my second visit. Ribs were OK by my standards, but probably the best in town based on our low-level of BBQ options. Again, the pizza was really good. Girlfriend's 22nd was messed up by our group being separated. Lemons were not on our waters when we asked, burgers had mayo when we asked for no mayo, and the food took over an hour to get out. BJ's is a great spot for lunch. The food is more affordable and the portions are big enough for a lot of leftovers. I don't think BJ's is worth stopping by for dinner though. It's too expensive for food that is just decent. The entrees I've tried (spaghetti and meatballs, chicken with soba noodles, and the chicken fried steak burger) are all just good. Nothing really special and kinda overpriced. I've also tried the spinach stuffed mushrooms, which were good but so tiny and expensive :( However I will go back for the portobello and asparagus starter salad and the pizookies, they're amazing! So I went here with my mom and toddler. They brought out a garlic knot and little bowl of fruit for the baby right away which was awesome. This place was pretty damn good for a chain. I don't like beer but they seemed to have a really good selection (my boyfriend loves beer so I have a pretty good idea even though I don't like it). I started with the tortilla soup which I was actually really surprised by. It has fresh avocado and a nice kick. I love spicy food so I was surprised even I found it to have some spice. I got the half rack of ribs and garlic green beans. I'm not a big ribs person but they sounded good and I'm happy with my choice. The beans needed a bunch of salt but I salt almost everything. But I seriously salted them like 6 times. My mom raved about their parmesan crusted chicken and their beignet dessert. My baby had grilled cheese with broccoli and carrots for a side. I think she put the crayons in her mouth more but she's kind of young and doesn't really bite into sandwiches so well yet. I decided to try BJ's for the first time yesterday. I ordered through Ubereats. I got the jalapeno burger with some modifications, one of which was specifically no mayo. When my order arrived, it was incorrect. There was a large amount of mayo on my burger. I called and was told the manager was on the line due to a call-in and was very busy. Totally understand. Things happen! The woman who answered went to ask him what to do. They wanted to offer me a gift card, which I didn't want. It was my first time ordering and I was unsure if I'd order again, which would make a gift card useless. I was told to get a refund of my actual money I'd have to talk to the manager who was not available. I offered to call back when I was off work. The woman was polite and thanked me for my patience. I did try to call back after work and received no answer. So I decided to drive there instead with the burger still with me. I am unsure who I spoke to, but he was incredibly helpful and had them remake my burger. It was correct and it tasted good. I will probably not order from here again online. I may, however, do a dine-in. I wish I'd gotten the name of the individual who helped me as he was very kind and helpful. read more
