Our family loves coming together at Black Angus for a monthly family dinner. The food, as always, was excellent. Everything came out fresh and cooked to perfection. We love coming on Wednesdays for their half priced bottled wine nights too. What truly made this specific experience even better was our server. Recently wanted to eat some steaks and decided to go to Black Angus because this restaurant is around our area and is our go-to spot. I took my wife and three boys and but we were seated at around 8:15 PM. As soon as we ordered, we had to wait about 10 minutes for the bread. Another 15 minutes for our appetizer; Wagyu Dumplings. And then another 10 mins for the salad. And then another 15 mins for our meal. During that time, we were all getting full off their bread. Once our food came out. Both NY STRIP and RIBEYE were cooked almost well done. My kids; ages 11 and 7; had to spit out their steaks cause it's chewy. I told my server, and he immediately took the steaks back to get it redone. The new (medium-rare) steaks came out after 20 mins and by this time it's 9:57PM! We told our server to provide us two to-go boxes and we will pack the food home because we are tired and the fun and enjoyment out of eating out has been replaced by frustrations and disappointment. Furthermore, it was 10:15 when I finished paying and by this time my wife and kids are in the car waiting for me. Also, I told my server if it's possible to talk to the manager, but he said that they couldn't accommodate me as it was closing time and she is busy counting money. It would be better for you to take your money somewhere like Texas Roadhouse or even Outback. I believe the servers are good at what they do, but the kitchen makes them look so bad. I grew up in the peninsula, so when I heard my new east bay friends told me their favorite place to eat for special occasions growing up was black angus I chuckled lol. But now after trying it out, I get it! Hubby and I didn't feel like cooking dinner and this place showed up on my InKind app (IYKYK). It has a pub like vibe/decor and can easily accommodate large parties. They have a 2 for $69 which is reasonable. App, entrees, 4 sides and a dessert. It pretty comes out to you getting a free app and free dessert if you were to pay for it all separately. Option to up charge for premium items. Free bread came out fast and hot! Great start to meal. We really liked the spinach dip. Came out warm and I like how much spinach was in it. Sometimes it comes out too creamy with no spinach at all. I got the rib eye with side of au gratin potatoes and broccoli. I asked for medium rare and I was so pleasantly surprised it came out at a perfect temp. It could have used a touch of salt but def not mad at it. Au gratin was good and broccoli was tender but thankfully not mushy (my pet peeve). You get to choose any of their desserts and we got the cowboy cookie. Basically a pizookie. Yes, bjs pizookie is better but you can't go wrong with a warm cookie and ice cream. It's my first time trying black angus. Yes that's right. Hard to believe. So first impression of the location was surprised that this restaurant was packed. We were told 30 mins but we were seated within 10 mins that was a plus. The server was extra friendly. I decided to order 12 oz ribeyes medium rare. It came out ok little toward the dry side than juicy side. So that went my two stars. The bread was ok same as steak dry side toward moist soften side. The salad and the salmon that my mom ordered was pretty but it was salty for her. The rib was glazed with sauce on top and it was not marinated. Long dinner short lol average experience. Will I come back? Not sure. My heart tends to love Texas road house. As always, I am still thankful that it's located in my community. I dined here last Friday, the 13th of February with my daughter and son. My son had baseball practice and we needed to grab dinner after. My son is big on steak and Black Angus had an immediate reservation available so I went for it. I honestly always have pretty low expectations for chain restaurants, but Black Angus definitely exceeded my expectations. We were sat right away upon entering. Our server was pretty busy, but once she grabbed our order our drinks came quickly. We all enjoyed our food. I ordered a 12 oz Prime Rib with loaded mashed potatoes and a salad. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed it. Sides were on point also. My kids both were happy with their food. They ordered the grilled chicken and steak from the kids menu. They both got fries with their food. Their food also came with a dessert and drink which was great value. It did take a while for our food to come out, but that's my only constructive criticism. Other than it was a very enjoyable experience. I would recommend getting a Hazy IPA on tap as well. Just because you're a chain restaurant doesn't mean you have to have all mediocre beers on tap. First yelp review of the year! Came here during the week for a little dinner date with my bby. It was my treat to him for being the best boyfriend ever! You got to spoil your man! We both never been here so we decided to make a date out of it. Super excited to see what this place is all about. Walked in we were greeted right away. There was a few minute wait but nothing too crazy. Super indecisive on what to pick but definitely wanted to try out the steak! They have plenty of options and deals for a dinner of two! So even when you don't have much to spend they have plenty of options! Me and my baby decided to get the filet mignon and sea (choose your sea option). This is usually my go to restaurant when I want lobster . My last experience here wasn't the greatest because of the quality of food and continuous mistakes from our server ,which I have sympathy for but this was too much . 1. We didn't get our bread after waiting for 20mins .We had to ask another server if they still serve complimentary bread. 2. My husband ordered a 16oz ribeye steak smothered with onion and mushrooms with jalapeño butter . The server came with a prime rib plain . 3. When the waiter came with the steak it was not correct . It was missing the mushroom , onions and jalapeño butter. 4. We got the steak smothered but it was missing the jalapeño butter( they charge extra for this by the way ) . The server came back and said they don't have the jalapeño butter . 5. I tried to bite my lobster tail , it was so mushy I was afraid to eat it . Mostly empty parking lot with nothing else around, inside the atmosphere feels like an old school steak house, with no flair and hasn't been updated in a while. Quite dark inside as well. Bread was brought out but with a family of 4 they only offered one plate with small piece of bread which feels like we barely get a bite each. Mac and cheese was nothing special and mashed potatoes had no flavor and no gravy. Cooked perfect medium rare so no faults there 3.2/5 - Artichoke cheese triple dip with chips - The cheesy flavor with the slight artichoke aftertaste was really good. Chips could have been better as some tasted stale. Chips could also been heated a bit to make it slightly better but the price is a lot for what you get. 4/5 - Surf and Turf Quesadilla - This was a massive quesadilla for the price and wasn't expecting that for the appetizer. Comes with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole with a good helping of shrimp in the quesadilla. Packed full of flavor and the sour cream and salsa added nice acidity for balance. Guacamole could be a bit more fresh but still good. Overall place was expensive for what you get and not really have much value. Everything was decent but nothing really wowed me. Black Angus Rum Experience - San Lorenzo Did you know that Black Angus hosts regular themed dining experiences every quarter on Thursday nights? I was surprised when I found out. I originally went searching for a T-bone steak in my area and instead came across their advertisement for a Rum Experience. The event featured a preset three-course menu, with each course paired with a complementary rum cocktail. The Menu & Pairings * Starter: Sticky mango habanero BBQ ribs with jicama slaw, paired with a Dark & Stormy featuring Meyers Dark Rum. * Main Course: Ginger soy marinated New York strip with garlic herb broccolini and grilled pineapple relish, paired with an Aloha Blue Mai Tai featuring Kahlua Rum. * Dessert: Bananas Foster with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce, paired with a Jungle Bird cocktail. The food presentation was nice, and the cocktails were well made (maybe too good -- I definitely felt it the next morning). They also added some fun with a raffle for spirits and other prizes, which made the evening even more engaging. The Experience For a Thursday night out, it was enjoyable and something different from the usual dinner routine. The total came to just over $100 for the two of us plus a $20 tip, which felt fair for a specialty event with food, drinks, and entertainment. Hits & Misses The ribs appetizer was a winner -- flavorful, sticky, and delicious. The entrée missed the mark for us. The steak was served extremely rare. While I don't mind rare cuts, my husband prefers his well done, so his ended up being reheated the next morning for steak and eggs. The dessert unfortunately fell flat. Instead of the flambéed bananas we expected, it was just sliced bananas with caramel sauce and melted ice cream. Cute idea, but poor execution. Extras That Count Plenty of free parking is available since the restaurant sits right off 880 South, making freeway access super easy. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and engaging throughout the evening, which added to the overall experience. Final Thoughts Overall, the cocktails carried the night, the ribs were fantastic, and the atmosphere was fun. Even though the main and dessert weren't our favorites, I'd still go back for another one of these themed experiences -- maybe next time for their Vodka Experience next year. It's a Black Angus Steakhouse! They are a national steakhouse chain, with very few locations in the bay area. This location in San Lorenzo has a ton of parking and is good for large parties, though I think it can stand to go under some interior renovations to feel less cramped. There's plenty of televisions on sports channels that can be viewed at all angles, making it a great place to watch a game at the bar as well. They have good weekday happy hour, early menu, and dinner for two deals (I like getting the Groupon). Every meal is started off with warm molasses bread and whipped butter. The bread is on the crusty side, but still delicious, especially with the butter spread. The wagon wheel sampler platter is seen at many tables, as it features popular appetizers such as fried zucchini, chicken tenders, potato skins, and shrimp; I've gotten that at another location before and enjoyed it, but here, I tried their new crispy hot honey brussels sprouts and thought it was phenomenal! There was so much decadent crispiness to these brussels sprouts, and every layer within had delicious savory hot honey drizzled throughout. The crispy bacon pieces added so much meatiness, salt, and juicy fatty bites. I even enjoyed the pops of creamy bleu cheese. For steaks, you can just get whatever cut you typically like, but I have to give a special shoutout to their prime rib. Their prime rib was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, and had a nice crust! There was some awkward fat distribution, but I liked added a bit of the fat to my bites. It didn't even need the au jus, but that was also beefy and good. I do wish they didn't forget the horseradish sauce, though. Sidekicks are also basically order what you'd like. I was surprised to see a breadcrumb crust on top of the mac & cheese and au gratin potatoes, which are both quite velvety smooth and cheesy. The french fries are hot, crispy on the outside, soft inside, and can stand to be more seasoned. I've also liked their soup and salad options. We never have room for dessert, so was able to grab our chocolate chip cowboy cookie to-go, which is just a huge cookie with ice cream. We get really well fed at Black Angus Steakhouse! Service is pretty kind, though their attention can be spread thin if there are a lot of other tables. A lot of people who go here are regulars, or large groups wanting some family time or a celebration. I used to love Black Angus when I was a kid. We had one in my suburban hometown, that is no longer there. Growing up my family rarely ate out, so when we would, it was kind of a big deal/special occasion. Since my immigrant parents rarely cooked steaks at home, eating one at a place that specialized in it was a super treat for an up and coming red blooded American beef connoisseur. And back in those days of minuscule expectations and easily impressed taste buds, Black Angus always delivered. Fast forward into my early adulthood and B.A. starts to get real corporate. Like national advertising on TV, mass weekly coupons for suburbanites to clip and I remember eating there a few times and just started to think, 'meh, kinda average at best' as my taste and preference started to explore and elevate. Early 90's was probably the last time I had been in one. Steakhouses at any level in America aren't as popular as they were once. Eating habits and massive inflation are the key factors. Beef prices are glaringly more expensive these days, than say just 10-15 years ago. I'd say by over 250%, that's an insane rise. Chicken and pork haven't rocketed like that. But having grown up in the American beef culture of yesteryear, I still find myself craving a steak and potato meal from time to time. So I found myself here at one of few Black Angus left in the Bay Area, and actually my very first time at this location. No apps or bread as I know a good ol' fashioned steak plate is plenty of food, and I don't like to pack food most times. I went big right off the bat, as I was celebrating ending a tough week. Prime Rib and Lobster ($53/4*) I have never had nor seen this combo together. Usually its lobster with steak like a filet or strip. I love both prime rib and lobster so I was quick to pull the trigger. The Prime Rib (4*) I'd say pretty solid version. Perfectly medium rare as requested, maybe even on the rarer side, which I don't freak out about. Seasoned pretty good as I didn't have to adjust anything. Big ramekin of warm au jus that immediately got dumped onto the plate. I love when prime rib sits in a pool of meaty au jus. Definitely seemed like 'choice' grade to me as it was tender and juicy. Look at you, Black Angus! The Lobsters (3.5*) They use 2 smaller tails. Simply just steamed and served with a side of melted butter. For some reason these were tad salty and tad overcooked, a little rubber-y for me. But the lobster flavor still delivered and when paired with legit status beef, is pretty much my favorite plate evar! Baked Potato (5*) OMG perfectly hot and fluffy, that the first few bites were tough to eat fast. I eventually ate the whole thing, skin and everything. Carafe of Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon ($11/5*) I just love how they offer a carafe size as well as per glass and per bottle. A carafe is 11 oz and about 2 glasses and you pour it yourself. I hardly ever just get 1 glass and a bottle is too much if my dining mate isn't a wine person. So for the price of 1 glass at a normal bougie spot, B.A. gives you 2 glasses, and this is a respectable wine from Sonoma. Manhattan ($12.50/3.5*) Got this for dessert as to top off an awesome and satisfying meal. Saw the bartender use Maker's Mark which is A-Ok. Drink came out on the lighter side color wise as often it has a more ruby-hue to it. This was more pinkish. But the flavor was there and I enjoyed it just fine. Went here with my adult kids wanting the campfire feast again. It wasn't busy for a weekday and it's been awhile since we have been to Black Angus. We wanted to try it out since we haven't been here in a while and saw a Groupon for their campfire feast deal for two people. Our favorite appetizers are crispy garlic zucchini, loaded potatoes and chicken strips. Most of us ordered the prime rib platter with add ons. Prime rib really doesn't need the butter toppings. It's good by itself and with a little pepper. The AuJus and horseradish is great with steak and their horseradish is strong but the AuJus is a little salty. I do like their Au gratin potatoes. For dessert, their creme brûlée and cookie cowboy are good choices. Triple chocolate cake is good too if you love cake and chocolate. Food was good but prices have gone up through the years. Our server Poppy was great. She was friendly, courteous and on top of her game while also taking care of the bar. The restaurant has been the same for the last 25 years and the smell inside seems to have gotten worse of old wood or sewer. That needs to be fixed or place needs to be remodeled. I have been a loyal customer for many years. Even throughout the many mistakes in food orders, I still came back. But this last online order is my final. I ordered a 24-ounce Prime Rib (rare) with mac & cheese side with a baked potato. I am adding a photo of this SAD piece of overcooked meat full of fat and the size of my little palm. Small portion of mac with NO potato. Missing baked potato!! Where is the quality control???? Would you pay $60 plus fees and tip for THIS to be delivered to your home???? Our server was excellent. We have been here for dinner numerous times before as well, their dinner menu had improved a lot!!!! It was a small brunch menu, but I think you can order from their regular menu as well. Started off with mimosa's and a spicy bloody mary, both tasted excellent, perfectly made. Deviled Eggs with bacon, paprika and parsley was very good. Wings with buffalo sauce on the side was fried perfectly. Prime Rib on Garlic Toast with caramelized onions gravy & 2 over easy eggs was so flavorful and the steak was tender. Country Fried Steak & Eggs also great with the sage gravy. Why have I never been to a Black Angus?? I was not expecting to be as satisfied as I was when I left. My boyfriend and I ordered the dinner for two and we left SO full and happy. I did eat a lot of the bread with whipped butter (SO GOOD) though. We came with some friends so for the starter, we were able to try both the honey brussels sprouts and the surf & turf. The brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked and flavored, but the surf & turf was a pretty generous portion and it was really yummy! For the entrees we got the ribeye and new york strip. Both were cooked exactly how the diagram in the menu says - we ordered medium rare and it actually came medium rare!! Yum. For the sidekick we got broccoli, mashed potatoes, fries, and mac & cheese. Everything came exactly as I expected! Nothing crazy. Cheesecake was good as well - we got the plain flavor and it was exactly what I was craving! read more

I come to this Black Angus pretty often I usually come for dinner and enjoy my time and food. Today I had the worst service of my life. My server who was the bartender as well took 30 minutes to even get my order and did not even stay long enough I had to keep asking her to come back so I could order my drinks and entrees. When I received my wine flight first she dropped them all and broke them at my feet, and then the second set - all of the wine glasses were dirty, pictured below, lipstick and debris are all over the top. When I asked her to exchange the stemware she said that "All of them are going to come out like that" I was offended and shocked. I asked for small things like more water and horseradish for my prime rib and she never even looked at me again. I usually love coming here but this has been a mortifying experience for me. read more

We called in advance to make a reservation we were told a table was available in 45 minutes..we arrive a bit early but the place was literally empty and we still waited 10 minutes to be seated 10 more minutes for water, then 30 minutes for our food. There was 3 tables including us and mediocre food still took 30 minutes! I mentioned we had a birthday in our party and we waited 15 minutes for a promised ice cream that never came so we left. This was our first and last time going to black angus. read more
