This was spur of the moment. I doomscrolled on social media and saw this place and was like.... Why not?! Bought the tickets online. Just went and didn't know what to expect. This place was quite large. There's a dedicated parking area on rocks. There's a porta potty at the parking area. You follow the signs to the office or gift shop and you state your name that registered online and you get a container of food and you can roam the cages. Each caged area is for specific sets of alpacas and you can get to the outside through each gated area. The alpacas are friendly - some a super needy - and some just want to rest. It really depends on the time frame for each one. You can touch and feed. Some really get in your face. I was trying to kneel down to take photos and the alpacas start walking towards me. The staff is constantly taking care of them and cleaning after their... Open bathroom use. There's games and seating everywhere. It is well organized here and well maintained. The people here are nice and I got what I wanted from visiting here. Seeing tons of alpacas. There are not just 10 alpacas, there's probably around 35-60 and they are all spread out, some inside and some outside grazing and eating grass. Very humane conditions for the alpacas. You can see a horse outside too and a Shepard dog as well. read more

Loved the experience. Amazing staff was very helpful and gave clear instructions before our day there. We went out and fed the alpacas (grouped by age). This farm was so much fun to visit for an Easter event. My kids got to egg hunt, feed alpacas, play games, and pay a visit to the Easter bunny. The highlight was by far feeding the alpacas. They were gentle, fun for my kids to pet, and a great local experience. The ticket price for the event was somewhat steep in my opinion, but I would pay it again for the amount of fun we had. read more

The cutest place ever! We came for their pumpkin patch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Got some cute family photos, fed the alpacas, and sat and listened to some great live music. Everyone was super friendly and very excited to have guests stop by. You could feel their pride and joy over their alpacas which was really nice. We even got to watch one of the alpacas jump around in a sprinkler which was adorable. Love the pumpkin photo set ups they had. $10 per person to get in. Free under the age of two. Only complaints was that their hand washing stations had no water & I think their pumpkin prices are a bit high, especially because you can get pumpkins for much cheaper at H‑E‑B but you are supporting a small business! read more

I am obsessed with Black Barn Alpacas! But let's be honest, who wouldn't be obsessed with a farm full of cute and fluffy alpacas?! Black Barn Alpacas recently opened in Floresville, TX and I have a feeling they will become very popular, very soon. They are one of very few alpaca farms in the country and I love that they are dedicated to raising alpacas with such love and care. The owners Yussy and Travis are absolutely amazing and it is a joy to learn about their mission and how they started Black Barn Alpacas. Yussy is also an interior designer which you can really tell when you take a tour because the barn is absolutely gorgeous and they have some amazing outdoor patio to relax and sip some wine while watching (and petting) the alpacas. During the summer time they are only offering tours during the morning and evenings, but as the weather cools down they will have tours all-day-long. If you decided to visit during the summer, highly recommend getting one of the earliest tour appointments since the weather will be much nicer, and the alpacas will not be running to the barn trying to catch some shade. This, BY FAR, was the favorite YES event for the family. Thank you to Black Barn Alpacas, Thirsty Hitch, The Art of Donut, Honey Moon Farms, Yelp, and of course, Fernanda for setting this up. It was definitely worth the drive and the wait to experience this. I have SO many photos and just randomly picked 19 to upload. My hands were full with the kids but I wish I was there with my DSLR and could've gotten so many more photos of the cute alpacas (and the kitty). We got a great behind-the-scenes tour of the farm and what it takes to raise alpacas. All of the alpacas were so cute but of course, we really loved the babies. At times, they were shy, but there were so many strangers to the alpacas, we probably overwhelmed them. To add to the alpacas, we got some alcoholic refreshments from Thirsty Hitch (thanks for the Yelp koozy also), donuts from The Art of Donut, and there was a charcuterie board from Honey Moon Farms. We did the farm tour yesterday and loved it. The owner was our guide as we walked around the farm and met the alpacas. It was clear that the animals were very well cared for and loved. He was very friendly and accommodating (we brought our toddler). Beautiful property and sweet animals. Plenty of time to feed them and pet them. Great photo opportunities! Black Barn Alpacas is the most phenomenal place to visit. Rachel gave our group an informative and entertaining tour while we fed the alpacas some snacks. She was engaging and funny. The alpacas loved their treats and were fascinating to watch. Ech alpaca has his or her own distinctive personality. They were a joy to interact with. Then Travis and Yussy kindly shared stories about their beloved alpacas. They were so generous with their knowledge. The gift shop has loads of alpaca-related items that are not to be missed. My husband and I made the trek out to Black barn Alpacas. We were very excited to walk an alpaca. The crowd was too big and they said were not prepared for the number of folks, so they cancelled it. We were really bummed. The Alpacas are worth the trip. They are beautiful, kind, gentle animals. Don't be afraid to ask the staff walking around the barn questions because they are an encyclopedia of answers. They charge 5.00 for a small bag of feed and they will recycle the bag. We grabbed a few pretty good size gourds for the porch as we left. We didn't play games, paint pumpkins and get any carnival food. We loved the beautiful drive and enjoyed some other new places on the way out and back. It's a lovely adventure for couples. read more

Super cute place to come with your family for a small fall festival. My favorite part was the alpacas, highly recommend getting a bag or two of feed to feed the alpacas. They were all super sweet. The horse was super nice and super beautiful. The fall festival had bounce houses for kids and a hat ride as well. They also had a pumpkin patch and multiple spots for cute pictures. The baby alpacas were my daughters and wife's favorite but I really enjoyed the boys. The boys seemed to be a little more timid but a lot bigger. AMAZING experience at Black Barn Alpacas! The guides, one of which was the owner, were so knowledgeable and friendly. The actual tour was about 45 minutes to an hour where you get to meet all the alpacas, feed them, and take pictures. After the tour was over, there was a place to sit and play games they had set up all around the barn. We were also given the opportunity to go back and spend more time with the alpacas. Our visit to Black Barn during Fleece Navidad was amazing. There was something to experience and enjoy for everyone in our group, from the youngest (age 3) to the oldest (age 82). What a wonderful place to visit. The farm is easy to spot because there are two long welcome flags at the entrance. They have over 80 alpacas and during the tour you'll have the opportunity to interact and feed many of them. They were all so sweet and eager to have a snack. The owner remembered all of the alpaca names and went over Interesting details like their breeding and social habits. They'll let you have multiple bags of food so you can spend most of your time interacting with and feeding these adorable furry camelids. You can pet them in the neck if they're up for it. Some are more used to being pet than others but they were all friendly. They have multiple tours a day and you do need a reservation to go enjoy some alpaca time. There is a small shop where you can purchase stuffed animals, key chains and socks made from alpaca fleece among other products. This is a very worthwhile and therapeutic trip to fit in to your schedule. You'll leave smiling. read more

Plenty of photo backdrops, face painting station, hay ride, bouncy houses, food stands and margaritas too. There was a whole area to sit and eat under a large canopy. Today we went to a Yelp event at Black Barn Alpacas located in Floresville. It is about a 45 minute drive from my home right down 281... honestly not that bad at all. It is located on 16 acres of land and currently they have about 50-60 Alpacas. Since it is the summer they are only doing 2 tours a day (am & pm). They do have plans to offer them more frequently as the temperatures drop in the coming months. You can actually feed them if you wish and go in their pens. The owners are super nice and will answer all your questions. I learned so much about them. They are the cutest and gentlest animals. This place is great for kids too. They also have a gift shop where you can purchase paintings, key chains, cups, and clothing made with alpaca fur... their fur is the softest I've ever felt. I definitely plan on bringing my kids back this fall read more
