Solid place and can certainly count on a good cup of coffee with them serving Stumptown. Only did pickup due to COVID but the food and pastries were very good. I've come to expect places in tourist areas to be mediocre as they have a steady influx of potential customers with limited options. Black Bear is one of the exceptions. I would go out of my way to eat breakfast here if it was located in my hometown. read more

Let me start by saying I've spent thousands this week in eating out, shopping and vacationing with my family. Every business I've visited has been pleasant and respectful during this COVID19 pandemic. I have not once felt unwelcomed until I visited this place. For the last 10 years I've vacationed with my family in this area and the last 2 two years I attempted to visit this company and they were closed. So today I was excited to drive down 30A to try for the first time. My foot had not hit the ground when I entered the door when the young man behind the counter nearly jumped over the counter to tell me to put on a mask, I explained that I had forgotten mine and he pointed to a stack of masks in the corner. I proceed to the counter and explained that I saw a sandwich on their IG page that looked great, so I ordered that, I asked if there were chips or anything to go with it, as he had his head turned toward the front door he bluntly answers no and says is that all. Not, is there anything else etc. I answered nope, that is all and I reached for my wallet as he tells me that my ham and cheese sandwich is $10.70. I no more than open my wallet and he blurts out sorry no cash accepted sorry, I replied no problem. While I am waiting for the receipt transaction he ventures to give me further instructions on how to leave the building and wait for my sandwich. As I stand outside in the heat to wait for my 10.70 sandwich about 10 mins later a girl comes out and yells out an order for Jason. I'm the only , male in sight and I correct her and she says she is looking for Jason who by the way had the same last name as me and same order Ironic. She goes back In side and does not return for 10 more mins. Needless to say I'm hungry, extremely irritated at this point and cant wait to give a bad review for some really bad customer service not to mention an extremely average and overpriced sandwichthat takes 20 mins to make in an empty establishmnet where everyone out side was already eating and one other person waiting. Many options in this area dont make the same mistake I did! read more

If you don't have lots of time to wait don't come here. I got a bagel sliced that I waited 20 minutes for and had to wait almost 45 minutes for an iced coffee. People who ordered after us got theirs before us and the coffee wasn't even good. read more

Great for a quick stop for coffee, to pick up food, or to sit down and stay for a little while. You order at the counter and they bring the food out within 5-10 minutes. read more

This is a little gem within Grayton Beach, but I'd drive here from anywhere nearby for what they serve. The menu is not extensive, but that's because they're choosing what they want to serve and have everything organic. The breads are all made here locally and the ingredients are sourced locally as well. I had the Banana Tartine (pictured in other reviews) and it was well worth the visit! The sourdough bread was fantastic (chewy with a good crust). My wife had the biscuits and sausage gravy. This is a southern staple. The biscuit was fantastic on its own, but the gravy was also done very well. We will be getting more bread and pastries to bring home with us (we're only a couple of hours away). Great place to stop for sure! read more

Delicious! List of choices but the lemony blueberry scones are fresh, light and fluffy. Breakfast sandwiches are cooked to order as are the large variety of hot and cold drinks. The staff are very nice and willing to accommodate your desires. Love this place and will definitely return! read more

This is by far the best place to get breakfast on the gulf coast. We come to Black Bear as often as we can when visiting from Atlanta. My wife says it is her favorite place for any meal! The pastries are awesome - better than anything in Atlanta. My favorite is the Granola. Unbelievable. read more

We have been to Black Bear several times, And typically was OK....but never outstanding. But today was the most disappointed we have been. We were a party of five and a few of us ordered the açaí bowl. For ten dollars we expected more than a small cup that was only 1/3 full...and most of it was liquid. Several others ordered the grain bowl. It was tasteless, slightly bitter and not at all satisfying. We were still so hungry we went down the street to Crackins...a vastly superior breakfast place. We won't be back to Black Bear....there are so many other better options along 30A. read more

This is probably the worst coffee i've had in the area. The wait was out the door and took them 30 minutes to get me a plain latte, I even had to ask them if they were making it. The coffee was extremely bitter and almost sour. The food was mediocre and the bread was very dry. We won't be coming back. read more

I wanted to love this place, it's got a cool atmosphere. I was pretty unimpressed by the service though... There were very few people in there and it still took forever to get any service. The girl who was working just stood behind the bar playing on her phone while we sat waiting.. Finally she came over and got our order but acted like it really annoyed her to have to do anything. After we finished our food (which was actually pretty good), we went to pay our bill.. She rang us up but never even asked how we enjoyed our meal or anything. Paid and never even got a "thank you", or a, "have a nice day." Nothing. Just felt pretty unappreciated for walking in the place.. it was a pretty awkward experience to say the least. Amazing avocado toast, amazing coffee. The cinnamon roll was delicious. Rating 4 stars because the woman who took our order was incredibly rude, super unfriendly & uninterested. The group next to us had their ticket wrong & had no idea what they had ordered because they did not get their receipt & neither did we. The "manger" or whoever was running the back whipped everyone into shape making it known that things were slacking and needed to get better. Once he did that, the service was better. We've been coming to this spot for a while now. Service is alright, sometimes they can be snobby. But the food was always amazing which lured us back in. However, we went today and I got my usual acai bowl, which I typically love from Black Bear, but today when it was brought out it was just acai water with fruit mixed in. Not frozen at all. When I brought it back up, showed them a picture of previous acai bowls I've had from them, they said their recipe has recently changed and their bowls will no longer be frozen. But what acai bowl isn't frozen? It tasted disgusting nonetheless. All the other food is good, just never get their acai bowls. read more

$$$$$$$$$$ - Bring your money because this place seems to think it is a 5-star, white tablecloth establishment. We have been coming here since it opened and have seen prices climb consistently, while the overall quality of the food and service has actually slightly declined. Now we note that even though you walk up and order and then wait a good amount of time for someone to bring your food to your table, you now have 20% tip automatically added to your bill. If you aren't looking closely, you might miss this in time to change it. Since when are you expected to pay 20% tip for walking up and being rushed to order so they can get to the next person in line behind you? Don't get me wrong, we love the baked goods, love the wine bar, and we've spent countless breakfasts, lunches, and dinners here. I hate to think of the money we've dropped in this place. But I'm growing tired of being gouged. The 20% sneaky tip is sort of the last straw for me. Guess it is time to find a new favorite spot. read more

I just happen to run into this place one morning as I was looking for a breakfast place. My first thought was parking would be a problem but I easily found a spot. The food was very good. I had retrieved food for my entire family so my order was a little more than usual. The sugar roll was so good probably my favorite!! We also got a blueberry scone which was made with fresh blueberries. Yum! I also ordered a biscuit with egg and cheese. Being from the south, my knowledge of good biscuits is beyond the norm so these were tasty, the texture was almost more like cornbread and it was very messy. The flavor however was pretty phenomenal! Adding the greens to it - gave it an dimension. Coffee however tasted a little burnt but I would definitely go back for he food. read more
