My wife's first time. We came to this location after church. My wife has never been to a Black Bear Diner. For me this was my second time (First time was in San Jose). I just remember the portions being HUGE. And they still are! My wife had an omelette with whites and a biscuit. The biscuit was unbelievably fluffy. It was amazing! I had the cinnamon roll French toast (pictured). Every bit was just as good as the next! Now all the food at this location was perfect. Let's talk about the service... Our server was Jocelyn. She was so sweet and helpful. She kept our coffee cups full. She checked up on us even while busy herself. She was the one whom recommended the fluffy biscuit. My husband and I went to Black Bear this last Saturday and had a fantastic experience. We are somewhat regulars here for dinner and always enjoy ourselves. This time, we had a server who was new to us - Jason. He was full of humor, pleasantries, and quick and attentive service! When the kitchen made an error and our food got skipped, he came out, was honest with us, apologized, and got our food quickly. He then offered us a free dessert to make up for it! (Cheesecake with pumpkin drizzle - amazing). Jason, we are already Black Bear stans, but you made us even moreso. Thanks for a great experience, and giving us a stamp card as well! I was a regular customer with blackbird diner in Vacaville. All of a sudden the service went downhill. I must've sat at that counter for 30 minutes and watched other individuals gets waited on with the exception of me then finally when I got my food, it took them longer than usual to bring it back to me and it was cold trying to get hot sauce and other things was another chore all of a sudden, and the quality of the eggs did not seem the same. One of the best diners in Vacaville. We eat here from time to time when we want something good!! My usual go-to is the Bacon Cheeseburger Salad. My husband usually gets a burger or breakfast. We are always shocked by the amount of food we are served. It's plentiful and good. Even a small platter is tons of food. My husband swears by the Big Poppa Burger. My wife and I came here on a Saturday Morning around 8:30am for breakfast. It's been a few years since we last came to Black Bear. We were great and seated fairly quickly. The restaurant is a lot bigger than how it looks on the outside, so there was plenty of seating. The decor was rustic with a woodsy cabin feel. Our server was very attentive and checked up on us frequently which does not happen at most restaurants now days (service was not lacking here). What's even better than the service is the food. I'm not sure why I don't come more often as they have always had good food with large portions at a decent price (even with inflation). I got the Fajita Omelette which was very big and loaded with strips of beef, diced onions and bell peppers. The Fajita Omelette also came with a choice of side (I chose hash browns) and choice of bread (I chose sliced wheat bread). My wife got the Bear's Choice Breakfast: 2 Eggs (over easy), Bacon & Sweet Cream Waffle. Both our meals tasted great and we had some leftovers to take home. The last time we were here I had their prime rib on Mother's Day one year and it was one of the best prime ribs, I've had and it was cheap. My husband and I go there almost every Friday morning for breakfast as soon as they open at 6:00. Our server is normally Cassandra unless for some reason she has had her shift changed . She is one of the reasons that we have made it one of our weekly routines. She is friendly, efficient and all around a great person. We brought my aunt and little cousin out to eat as a way to be together, and Rosa, our server at Black Bear Diner, went above and beyond in every possible way. After she was made aware of our family's loss, she showed genuine compassion, kindness, and understanding throughout the entire meal.
