I was last minute booking, yet this place was affordable, extremely tidy and clean, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and informative. Rickie (Ricky?) and Rick run the show, and they do a great job of it. My experience: Booked a studio, which was along the road, so a bit noisy when motorcycles ride past, but nothing too unreasonable. Checkin was a breeze- Rickie gave me the keys and explained the setup/checkout process. I asked about Getting dinner nearby, especially Thai, and she gave several options, including one that was about 2 blocks away (and it was delicious). She gave me tips on booking activities and hotels for cheap to continue my travels and at the end asked what kind of milk I'd like to take back to my room for my tea. Nice touch. The studio was super clean and contemporary, with a spacious bathroom and small kitchenette with small fridge, electric kettle, microwave, sink, and counter space. Kitchen table, bed, and living room chairs were nice to lounge and watch TV. If I had more time in Christchurch, I would have loved to stay a few more nights at this lodging.

Called ahead and spoke to David who took our reservation with minimal details as we were calling on the road travelling into Christchurch. Arrived later than anticipated without any troubles. David generously arranged for us to park our motorcycle in his garage to tuck it away which was muchly appreciated! Annette gave us a suggestion where to eat which was perfect food and wonderful servers. Amenities were great with enough coffee and sugar and always the offer of fresh milk to have in your fridge. (Nice treat from North American motels which you only get powdered milk.) King bed was beautiful. There was an Asure conference that had just taken place in Christchurch and we met a precious host from the Asure in Dunedin who was staying at the 306 on Riccarton as well. It was like running into an old friend. The Asure franchise is doing something fantastic and their hosts are great!!

Their warm hospitality, lovely studio apartment ( by myself so was ideal) Sky TV, clean room, big double bed, heat pump, coffee n tea facilities, free unlimited wifi and pick up and drop off to airport all only 141.50 a nite was a steal. They also do have d option of continental breakfast for only 12$. The staff were super friendly and warm. Allowed me to check in at 11 and late check out too at no extra cost..def staying there again and probably hopefully with some company lol so I can try out the 1 bedroom apartment...all in all a 4.5 star place...happy me :-) it is 315 and not 306 btw...for some reason 315 never came up when checking in...

Try both of the in house restaurants there as they are superb. By far the best meals I had in New Zealand and Australia. The most incredible part of my experience was that I complimented the waiter on the desert and told him it was amazing. The next day, the concierge informed me when I was heading out on a hike that they had arranged for the pastry chef to give me a private lesson in the kitchen so that I could learn how to make it myself. I have never had an experience like this before or since. I highly recommend THE GEORGE as a must stay if you are in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Loved the location right across Hagley Park, convenient to many places, and they provide free parking. Even though this hotel is a bit pricier than other places I searched, it is well worth it. Many places aren't as nice, not conveniently located, and overnight parking will cost you $$, which you factor into the cost, it's actually the same price. Once we stepped into the lobby, you can feel a certain level of comfortness, elegance, and sophistication. This hotel is not modern, but doesn't feel outdated. There's a distinctive quality. We were warmly greeted by the concierge/front desk person. He was very friendly, helpful, informative, hospitable, and made us feel very welcomed. Our room was a decent size with a lot of natural light coming in. With the park across, you have excellent privacy. One of the perks was the heated bathroom floors! They also FREE guest laundry. That was another reason why I chose this hotel because it was our last stop, and we could do laundry before heading home. One of the housekeepers was really nice and kind. The staff overall were friendly. It's the small details and kind gestures that made our stay memorable, even if it was just for one night. Providing complimentary coffee or tea when we arrived, the extra care and effort when we needed something, and giving us a free teddy (George) bear too! I didn't use the gym but walked around to check it out. The room we had was decent. We got stuck in a wheelchair accessible room because that's all that was left in the class of room that we paid for, but the floor wasn't sloped at all and there was no ledge along the edge of the shower area, so when showering, the water got everywhere within the bathroom. The lobby looks pretty nice and updated. The breakfast buffet was definitely better than your average hotel breakfast spread. Among the more unique and tasty items were poached eggs, fruit/yogurt/granola parfaits, smoothies, and more. One thing they need to fix: the doors leading out to the parking lots do not shut on their own. This is a security concern.

I started with an Entree, Beetroot Gnocchi which was extremely good. It came a bit late but the manager came to apologize and comped my next drink. Ordered the 9 oz ribeye aged for 90 days. First bites were disappointing as it did not have the tenderness expected for a premium dry aged steak kept for 90 days. Maybe the outside was more cooked as it was tough. But as I moved towards the center of the cut it became more flavorful and tender. Overall I would rate it as a good steak. The cheese plate was massive. Two cheeses a shrooms hire blue and Evondale smoked Brie came with enough crackers and bread crisps for an army.

We went to look at the pool and hot tub that was outside but the pool wasn't even heated and it was freezing and water wasn't clean. We were there for 1 night and when we checked out we told them how it wasn't ok that there was no hot water and they said we should have called sooner and there was nothing they could do. There not very efficient in the way they work. Don't stay there if your looking for a place to stay in Christchurch.

The room was large and clean, and I spent most of the day sleeping. The front desk was helpful all around, directing me to a pharmacy, arranging for a taxi to the airport, just generally very kind.
