An amazing local coffee spot. Gary and Alyssa are amazing and their passion for coffee shines through in all they do. It is my all time favorite place to go to for a great cup of joe, great conversation and amazing environment. I will also say, I have no idea what the kitchen staff does to make my bagel sandwich taste so good each morning but I swear I can't make a whole wheat bagel with egg and cheese taste this good at home. I also love buying different bags of coffee and making at home...although it never tastes as good as when they make it for me! I cannot say enough about Black Gold Coffee Roasters. Chose this spot to meet for a business meeting between Fort Myers and Tampa - very easy to find, clean, and smells delightful inside. I politely asked for a Wi-Fi password and was met with an inquiry surrounding the purchase of a consumable. After indicating I was meeting someone, I was reminded to please make a purchase (I'd planned to all along after my guest's arrival). We were enjoying our drinks and working on our laptops when we found the glare from the sun to compromise our work station. I pulled down the shade on one of the 3 large windows and was promptly addressed by the same employee for "disrupting the ambiance." My coworker and I had planned to stay here for 2-2.5 hours and ultimately order breakfast, but opted to leave to go to another breakfast eatery in the area based on how we were treated. I had also considered getting fresh beans for my parents who each have a birthday coming up, but felt disrespected by this particular staff worker. It's hard to enjoy a product and layout of an establishment so much, and then be treated like dirt despite being a paying customer. We left here in a hurry and very disappointed. read more

I ordered a black gold bagel (ham, bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese) on a cinnamon raisin bagel and a dark roast black coffee. I really liked the bagel itself and the coffee was good quality. The coffee selection was very extensive. Only downside was the wait for the sandwich was extremely long. I'll give the benefit of the doubt since it was my first visit and a busy day. read more

The owner, Gary, saw our curiosity as we were looking into the roasting area and asked if we had any questions. He was so kind to answer our questions. I'm a coffee novice, but I was looking to purchase coffee for a "coffee snob" friend back home. The owner helped me make a selection of coffee that would be perfect for my friend. Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. I've been there several times with friends and the coffee always tastes burnt. I've never ordered food, so I cannot comment on the quality of their kitchen. The food looks good though. The coffee, on the other hand, is somewhere between Looney toon coffee strained through a sock and military coffee (instant coffee poured into the mouth followed by a swig of water from a canteen). I will most likely try their food, but I'd rather go to Starbucks or 7/11 for coffee. read more

This was my go to coffee shop before witnessing horrible customer service today to two business gentlemen. They purchased their coffee and even bough a coffee bag and sat down on the phone. I was sitting next to them and could NOT hear their phone call at all. Few minutes later a female staff member approached them with a very entitled and rude behavior and demanded they get off the phone. The gentlemen were taken back by this and ended up walking out without saying a word, meanwhile the staff chit chatted and gossiped about them immediately after they walked out. One of the males came back in and politely explained the situation to the owner and to my surprise the owner was just as rude to him as well. These men were in no way shape or form disturbing anyone. Terrible customer service I couldn't believe what I saw. I will gladly be taking my business elsewhere this was so embarrassing. Coffee/food isn't good enough to put up with a tyrant shop owner and staff. Should be ashamed. read more

The best coffeehouse I've seen in the Venice area, and consistently busy. They have what a coffeehouse should have: great coffee, first and foremost, excellent and reasonably priced breakfast sandwiches on fresh bagels, and baked goods. Perhaps could add to the regular baked goods - have a good variety of gluten-free, but I have enjoyed the zucchini bread. The staff are friendly and treat you like you belong there. read more

Let me preface this with saying that I'm a "brewed" coffee drinker. So I like to come in and get the "boldest" brewed coffee available and I expect it to knock my socks off. What I received was OK, but not great, hence my 4 out of 5 stars. However the atmosphere, food and snacks and specialty coffee drinks all seems really good, but I did not have any of these items. read more
