The breakfast served is also really solid & hearty. My problem is with how things were and are communicated. My wife and I booked this place based on the advertising that said we could ride horses, our daughter is a rider and quite passionate about them. Upon arrival, Laura was unsure of what days we'd be riding. Keep in mind we asked about all this beforehand. Now, the days were hot in July so we figured we'd be riding either early in the morning or later in the evening. Fine. But she gave us no plan. I finally went back up to the house to nail down a time. We agreed to a morning ride the following day. Great! Nope. She later texted saying she had forgotten her husband had some meeting and if we could reschedule for that evening at 6. Cool. Nope. Something happened to the horses and she had to cancel. Ok. I get that. But then, she had some all day thing the next day and thereby effectively killing all options for riding as we were leaving the day after. My wife proceeded to ask for a partial refund as this was not what was discussed or advertised. Nope again. Her excuse this time? We hadn't signed up or paid for that. Cmon. Bad business and advertising. There were also guests arriving who were trying to reach her and couldn't and were quite frustrated with the lack of communication. So, great place in terms of scenery. But be forewarned of what is said & advertised because we did not get what we paid for by any means. Duly noted. We won't be back.

Breakfast was something different every day & served right on time. It was so relaxing to wake up & see the horses or to sit outside by the fire pit watching the horses, deer & sunset with Odie as company. Plus there's a hot tub to enjoy too. He is by far the reason I'm giving 5 stars over an average score. He honestly made it great for us. I think we were the only people without kids, which should have been our first clue that maybe we weren't the target audience for this place, but it gave us Gravity Falls vibes so we bought our tickets and waited for our guide. They weren't kidding when they said the tour could make you feel dizzy and possibly nauseous, because boy did we feel dizzy and nauseous for awhile after. I don't want to give the details of the tour away, but I will say I had fun learning about gravity hot spots. If they ask you "does this look level to you?" If you say no the response is always "well it is" as they show you will a ball sitting on the surface that won't roll. It was overall pretty cool, but if I ever go back it'll probably be just for the gift shop. I'm glad I got to experience it once, but this is a place that I'm one and done with.

So we did the zip line and tubes but still no slide. It was time for us to go so I went back to the office and was told they would not refund us as we already did everything but the slide and jump. Wtff! It was fun but NOT worth almost $200 for 2 people. ONE STAR for the staff who were all super cool and helpful. ONE STAR for the aerial adventure being a fun 2 hour experience.

If you are up for some adrenaline rush and physical exertion (can you climb a 20ft wobbly rope…read moreladder that makes you feel inverted), then definitely add this to your Mt Rushmore vacation itinerary. Located just 5-8 mins from the Mt Rushmore parking lot. We started of with a $35 package 800ft Zipline and "bungee" jump for the boys and $25 Zipline for us. TIP: don't waste your money on the jump, or the 800ft (15 second) Zipline. Go straight for the Aerial ropes course which have those elements built into several of their 8 paths/courses. We decided after that we wanted to do the 2hr Aerial adventure ropes course high in the trees, because it looked fun, well-built, new, and safe. TIP: They wouldn't re-bundle what we already did into a new package rate. Lame!!!! Buy what you think you might do up front. The regular rate is $49 for 2hrs or $10 less for 1h15m twilight pricing (after 5:00p). You have to start your last path by 6p. And you cannot try a higher difficulty path without leveling up from an easier level (yellow to green to blue to black). We did the twilight rate and only had time for the yellow, green, and blue. The green and blue were really fun, and had great Zipline and Jump elements built in. We were told the black is a real workout, not quite American ninja warrior hard, but hard. The equipment is very safe and the staff is well trained. They use a tweezle ropes system which is very safe with built in redundancies. Some of the yellow path equipment could use some tightening. Bathrooms were nasty. All in all, we had a blast and wished we could have spent all day there. This was the best ropes course we have ever tried.

Chuck Lien family park is basically the same area of Rapid City that Hanson- Larson Memorial Park…read moreclaims- the memorial park is a set of trails all over the few hills there and Chuck Lien is a spot of land right in the middle of those trails, as well as one large trail that is easy access right up to M Hill, one of the most well known spots in Rapid City where the giant white M sits along the hill. It's really beautiful area any time of year, and such a pleasant hike around- it's not too difficult or strenuous but it can still get you breathing a little hard and sweating which is a perfect hike to me. Referencing my review on Hanson- Larson park if you plan to visit this area would probably be pretty helpful, I'm repeating a lot of what I said there but I don't want to completely drone on. Basically, have a picture of the trails or you may get lost, and taking the Chuck Lien trail path is the biggest path and super easy to make it up to the top of M Hill, and boy is the view worth it!
