Went to see the Odd Couple. Playhouse is indoors. They'll let you bring in water. A brief intermission gives you a chace to go to the snack bar and restrooms. We sat in the first row of the balcony. This is a small intimate venue. Even the last row isn't far from the stage. That being said, order tickets online to confirm you get a seat. The play was well written and well acted. We did a 2pm matinee. Weekdays vary. Check the website. This was a good choice for a hot day. By 4:15 when the play was over, it was starting to cool off outside. I've been to many productions here over the years. Production quality varies...the show we saw was poorly written but enthusiastically performed. Generally the musicals are safe bets. The Black Hills Playhouse is a true gem hidden in Custer State Park. I attended 3 or 4 shows in the summer of 2012 and each one was more delightful than the previous! If you're in the Black Hills during one of their shows, do yourself a service and GO! The theater is surprisingly large on the inside and is a fantastic secret kept generally well hidden from tourists. read more
