After surgery, I discovered through my records that significantly less tissue was removed than what had been discussed and pre-authorized. I was never informed that the surgical plan had changed, and I continue to experience the same pain I sought surgery to relieve. What followed was a pattern of dismissal, poor communication, and documentation that did not accurately reflect my concerns or interactions with the surgical team. Questions about drains, pain relief, and the outcome were minimized or omitted from the record entirely. One of the most distressing moments occurred during a follow-up appointment where I was undressed, emotional, and trying to understand why the surgery had not achieved the intended medical goal. Instead of compassion or accountability, I felt dismissed, overwhelmed, and emotionally exposed while multiple members of the surgical team defended the outcome rather than addressing my concerns. The grievance letters I later received from Monument Health acknowledged that the surgical plan changed based on "clinical judgment," yet never addressed the core issue: whether I was informed of or consented to that change. The responses felt focused on defending the institution rather than understanding the patient experience or outcome. This experience has deeply affected my trust in the healthcare system. The nurses and the doctor were all very nice and very thorough. Overall, the experience was quite good, especially given that I had COVID and no one ever made me feel like I was a worry to them. Since it was my first experience with COVID, I expected to be treated like a leper, but that didn't happen. It was a much more relaxed event, for which I'm quite thankful. I'm feeling better every day too.

That is an entirely different thing as the orbit is the actual eye SOCKET. Then they put someone from radiology on who tried to tell me that I was the one that made the mistake and that the orbit is actually the eye ball (globe), which it IS NOT. The orbit is the socket. I don't like mistakes being made and then being lied to about it to make me look stupid when I was the one who used the terminology correctly. In the future, I would explore other options for imaging. Medical professionals who are unsure of terminology should at the very least look up the terms and know what it is that they are talking about. Good medical professionals would already know what the terminology means.

Lab tests of every type. They gave her a small wheel chair that she could navigate around the house. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy came out and evaluated the house and what she needed. Even without a diagnosis, they started taking care of her problems. By July she had gotten a power scooter, lift for the scooter on the back of the car, an elevator from the garage into the house and a chair lift from first floor to second. She got what she needed by keeping them in the loop as to what was going on with her issues. She did not just complain, she was proactive and the VA responded.

Was seen today at the urgent care on Haines Avenue in Rapid city SD, the nurse was great, very…read morethorough and friendly and the front desk staff was great too, however the "provider" did absolutely nothing, no exam, no tests, nothing, just referred me to someone else and tried to justify not doing her job, I was being seen for a rotator cuff tear and this "provider" would not even do an x-ray or any type of exam. just referred me out, whole visit took about 5 minutes, if this is the way Sanford is going to run things, with lazy providers maybe they should rethink coming to Rapid City, I will never return
