The City of Henderson opened up its community pool for "Doggie Paddle & Play" dates on Sept 10th and the 24th. It was the first time our furbabies registered for the event, and first time they ever experienced swimming in a pool!! Fiji and Makana had a pawtastic time!!! It was so fun to watch them frolick unleashed under the sun!! We paid $11 per dog to spend time in the water from 11:30am to 1:00pm for their weight class (40lbs+). We just had to make sure proof of vaccination was good to go. I thought we'd be in and out of the pool within 30 mins, but we ended up staying the entire time. We brought a jug of water, a dog bowl, lawn chairs, and our tennis ball thrower. Once we walked in, there was a table full of bandanas and tennis balls that were complimentary for all puppers! Plenty of lifeguards on duty, too! By 12:30pm, there were at least four pet vendors highlighting their businesses. I ended up with some frozen yogurt cups and apoopie bags for free! Keep an eye out on the City of Henderson Calendar of Events. We would definitely sign up again in a heartbeat! read more

We went here to play pickle ball outside. There were six courts in great shape. Lots of other folks playing too. We didn't go inside the facility as it was closed and n Saturday afternoon. Maybe COVID related, I'm not sure. Great pickle ball courts and friendly people there playing. read more

I was visiting my parents from out of town and was looking for some pickleball games. I was pleasantly surprised to arrive on a weekday morning and find the courts full. Everyone was very welcoming and I played for a solid two hours. I am planning to return every time I visit. read more

They have Pickleball! The courts are outdoors and at the end of the parking lot. It's well lit for evening games until 10PM. The courts get pretty packed some evenings. I am one of the Racquetball players that has transitioned to Pickleball in COVID times since it's an outdoor sport and pretty quick to pickup. If you play Pickleball too message me for a game! Never played? Check out a few you tube videos pick up some paddles and start hitting around. It's easy to pick up and addicting. I've looked everywhere for a play pool for toddlers today! Why are these pools open when everyone works and closed weekends??? Stupid

Loved it here ! My granddaughter had a great Time swimming and loved the water features and slides.

So clean..lifeguards are great...the workers in snack bar so kind...hard workers All of them.

I was assigned a new shift and can now take advantage of the classes the Rec center has to offer for my toddler son. I love it here! The classes are so reasonably priced and they're educational and resourceful. My son is retaining so much from his karate class and from the colors and shapes classes. It's the perfect amount of fun and structure to prepare him for school in the new few years. I've been so happy with the front desk staff, the teachers, the facilities, and the cost. Feeling super thankful that I have availability to these now and recommend that if your on the fence with bringing your own child... bring them! You won't regret it. read more

Let me start off with I LOVE swimming!! I'm a total fish! So when we moved to Henderson, a couple years ago, my husband informed me of ALL the public pools in the City of Henderson! Black Mountain Aquatic Complex is only open from around Memorial Day to Labor Day-ish so when it's open you might not want to miss it. If you have children of any age this place is a great way to get them out and in the sun for a reasonable price. They offer lots of lawn chairs, tables and grass for you to sit on or picnic. They allow you to bring in ice chests and your own chairs if you want. People even have birthday parties at the pool. The Black Mountain pool has beach style entrance and then gradually gets deeper. They have a sectioned off area that goes to about 4.5 ft deep for swimming. In the shallower area they offer a water jungle gym which includes a little slide and fire hose you can turn up and down. There is also a much larger slide that you can go on if you are over a certain height and can swim on your own. One of my favorite parts besides the nice salt water pool is the Snack Bar! They must put crack in their Diet Coke 'cause I crave it from there all winter long! I can't wait to have one next year! They do have a great selection of stuff if you decide not to bring food with you. The hot dogs are decent and even their turkey sandwiches aren't that bad. I mean we are talking about a snack bar at a local pool. I enjoy there nachos. They are horrible for me, but for a snack I enjoy them. They are simple, just tortilla chips, nacho cheese and jalapenos (upon request). The snack bar also offers ice cream, candy, dill pickles, string cheese and chips. Everything is very reasonably priced. I look forward to the pool opening back up in the summer. I love to sit out in the sun there and sip my diet coke! Then take a dip in the pool! Doggie Play and Paddle Event. So at the end of pool season they open the pool to dogs of all sizes, they have different time slots for dogs of different sizes (weight). We were in the medium size dog group. It was well organized, it cost $10 if you prepay online and $15 day of the event, I felt it was well worth it. It wasn't too crowded, you were able to easily keep track of your dog and enjoy yourself. Plenty of lifeguards for the dogs safety and an animal control officer was on site, which put me at ease. There were a few booths with local vendors and a dj playing music at the pool. They provide towels for the dogs to use and lots of tennis balls to toss around. There were plenty of seats for the humans and even some shade! There is even a small grassy area for the dogs to romp around or do their business...owners must pick up after their dogs! Loved this event and will definitely go again. My one gripe was there were no drinks for humans or canines. We luckily brought a bottle of water but it'd be nice if they sold some there. read more

This place is great. They have a workput room, lockers, raquetball courts, classes (they vary but include all kinds of interesting things), and preschool (abit pricey). Most importantly, they have a CHEAP POOL. The pool has an adult water slide, kids water slide (my two year old, three year old AND ten year old love this), sprinkler-type fun, plenty of shade, free lawn chairs if you can grab one, and a snack bar with ice cream for $1, hotdogs for $1.50, and lots of other stuff. Its only $3 for adults, $2 for kids, and under two are free. There are lots of lifeguards and they seem really on the ball. Id give this place 5 stars but for the fact that they charge $2 per kid for childcare to work out. If you have more than one kid its a bit pricey. You CAN buy a swimming pass and use it towards chilcare, but you only save a buck that way. I feel this is rather discriminatory towards women with kids and goes against their vision statement which states "To be the national leader in promoting community health and well-being through fun, progressive and memorable parks and recreation experiences and activities for everyone.' read more

Aw Yeah, I have been going to this spot since before I lived here. I know they offer a bunch of different programs, which i still want to check out if my schedule ever allows. Anyways, I mainly visit this spot to enjoy some Racquetball. The staff has always treated me and my friends and family well with making reservations for a court, changing times or those unfortunate and rare couple of times I have had to cancel. The courts are always kept up nice and if there is a problem, the staff is prompt in helping to get the issue resolved. read more

The Doggie Play and Paddle Event was my first time at the complex. What a great idea to let LV doggies take a dip before the end of the summer. My dog loves to swim so after signing up and paying online we were eager to enjoy the festivities. There are 3 weight classes which was great as to not have each class overcrowded. I did see some really tiny dogs in our weight class which I think could possibly be dangerous also small children with dogs is not a smart idea. Check in was easy and quick. There was some confusion at the entrance, a few dogs got out but were quickly rounded up. I did not even stop to see what the vendors were offering because my dog was one busy bee. I do say boo to all the dog owners who didn't keep an eagle eye on their dog and "missed" picking up after them. I could see how all that doggie doo could make it where they don't offer the event anymore. I look forward to next years event and so does Frida. read more

We went early in the morning, and they shut down the pool for about thirty minutes before 11. The water was pretty chilly, and we were packing up when they all had whistled for us to leave the area. I had my daughter in my arms (5months), helping my mother in law, (with 2 year old) trying to get all of our stuff, while watching the 2yr old with the pool (they dart!) We were not procrastinating. A young girl came over with a long blonde braid, and started clapping at us! Saying that she really needed us to get out. I could understand if we were sitting, eating a sandwich, popping open a soda. She could've handled that better. We had our hands full. read more

For a while it was the only facility in the neighborhood where they offered city park & rec classes and had a public pool. It was always busy! Now even with the one in Green Valley open, this place is still busy! Good thing there is plenty parking spaces available. Only minor problem is one entry/exit way into this place, which can cause a backup at times. I usually come here for the community yard sale they hold outdoors. There's a fitness room, and racquetball room, I haven't tried out yet, but looks fun! Recently I started taking up some dance fitness classes, Hot Hula and Zumba that were in the Henderson Happenings brochure. The dance room it's located in is a pretty good size with mirrors on both sides of the wall. A stereo system with the speakers anchored high near the ceiling. So it's nice and loud when the music is on. Not only is the A/C turned up in there full blast, there are also 4 ceiling fans to help you cool off when the dance workouts get intense! Only negative about this dance room is the floor is not very clean. So if you take classes in there with bare feet, be prepared to have black feet from all the dirt that accumulates on your feet. Other than that this place is cool, the workers at the front desk are friendly and helpful and there's a good variety of classes to take for all ages. read more

I went to this water park a few weeks ago for a birthday party. Everyone from the beginning of the entrance to the lifeguards were very pleasant to associate with. All of your staff was so friendly especially with the kids. They were laughing and having so much fun interacting with them. It was so nice to witness and appreciate the positive atmosphere. This was my third year attending the Doggie Play and Paddle Event. This year they changed the weight classifications. My lab is 89 lbs so I signed us up for the 11:30 to 1:00 time slot for large dogs, but the previous suggested cut off time was 85 lbs so I could have signed her up for two sessions if I had wanted to. According to one of the employees the previous time slot with a suggested weight cut off of 85 lbs was packed with over 100 dogs. This event is $10 if you preregister on line and $15 at the door. Have a copy of current vaccination records available when you check in. This year there is an additional fee of $1.50 if you are not a Henderson resident. Some of the vendors they have on site are a little cheesy, IMO, the timeshare and the chiropractor come to mind. Other vendors are pet related, doggie hotel and daycare and Q&A table to learn about Pet CPR, choking, etc. This is the first year that they let humans in the water up to their knees. So there were pet parents and kids tossing balls while in the water, and it made it easier for owners to coach less water loving dogs into the water. I thought that was cool until I saw a dog pee in the water but I suppose chlorine kills everything! read more

This place has so few chairs! They really need to consider it's to hot to sit on the ground and they always have a horrible ant problem!
