My husband and I were looking to try a new Mediterranean restaurant and decided to give Black Olives a try. I ordered the beef shawarma bowl for pickup, and my husband got the combo plate with chicken kabob and lule. Unfortunately, we were both pretty disappointed. Overall, the food was very bland and lacked the flavor we were expecting. My beef shawarma had a very strong beefy smell and taste that reminded me of reheated meat, which I wasn't a fan of. It also wasn't the style of beef shawarma I was expecting. Instead of the thin, shaved slices you typically get from a vertical rotisserie, it looked more like chopped or pan-cooked beef. The hummus was also lacking flavor, and the garlic sauce was served in such a small container that it wasn't enough for the meal. Overall, this place just didn't stand out to us. Everyone's taste is different, but for us, there are other Mediterranean restaurants we'd rather try next time. read more

The pita is always plentiful and a parcel to pinch everything together in one bite. We've catered through black olives for several family gatherings and it has consistently been a wonderful experience. Great service, friendly and hospitable. I came to this little new place in palmdale to visit my aunt for a day. We went to this new place or a hole in a wall per se because I could not find it for 10 minutes while driving around. It is a tiny little restaurant between two other massive restaurant places with several gas stations and stores nearby. The ambiance upon entering is peaceful and calm. A place where you can relax and have a beer or two. There is a bar uo at the front for drinks, but I ain't a drinker. The service was great and warmful. It was quick, and the food was tasty. We ordered 4 triangular meat spanikopitas. I had 2 of them, it was like a Shepard pie but in a pastry. Fattening for sure and well, I can not be sure, but it tasted like it came out of the microwave. I also ordered the Greek salad. The taste was good, and the lamb was decent, but it looked weird. It was like a perfect oval shape with a flat side up. It did not look appealing like gyromania. It resembled something I could make myself by putting it in the microwave oven. I think they bought this at costco. The place is located near this massive mall in a deserted wasteland but a peaceful one at that. The price, however, for my Greek salad with lamb was expensive. It was portioned well but overpriced for sure. My aunt ordered the chicken kabob with chicken swarma mix, and the kabob was the star. It was succulent, dripping wet with moisture, and the texture was excellent. It melts in your mouth. It came with a small salad and a rice pilaf that was also delicious. I had the grilled salmon to go and they cooked the salmon EXACTLY the way I wanted it. Medium rare more rare which is what I asked for. I love the spicy jalapeño they put. I gave it two starts because I did not like the seasoning of the salmon and it tasted wet. This is the best lunch I have had in a long time. We almost missed the entrance because it is sandwiched between chipotle and Vos Pupusas. Once you're inside the Armenian and Mediterranean vibe sets in. You know it for real because the cooks listen to Armenian music in the kitchen while they make your healthy and delicious meal. We ordered vegetarian plate, Georgian cheese bread, and gyro bowl. The Georgian bread was off the hook yummy and baked to order. The vegetarian plate had a good variety of flavors including dolmas with a slight kick, tabouli salad, tender falafels with tahini sauce, babaganush, and hummus! What surprised me was the rice! The rice was also so delicious and went well with everything. The gyro bowl was a great dish for one person and you will still have some leftovers. It came with protein, hummus and cucumber salad and a side of tzatziki. The suave servers make you feel right at home no matter how you're dressed. Went to this restaurant only because I seen them on Facebook, nobody was in the restaurant The girl was on the phone at least for 10 minutes and before I was able to talk to her she informed me that they do not have any lunch specials that I seen on the Facebook advertisement and the specials only started after 2:00 p.m. then I was told you are welcome to leave if you don't like this place I went to take a picture of the location and she tried to knock the camera out of my hand I asked for the manager at that time she's replied no manager is here and you are welcome to leave so we did so I would highly not recommend this restaurant to anyone it is a terrible place terrible experience read more

I'll start by saying- if you're looking for gyros- you don't wanna be here. The outside: Their parking lot is one notch above cramming 12 cars into a single spot; the blue awnings are home to birds with diarrhea. Not joking. It's a HUGE disgusting turn off that the restaurant owners chose to ignore. 'First impressions' mean nothing, apparently. They welcome you when you step inside and ask how many are in your party (we had 5)- they then proceed to say, and I quote, 'Sit anywhere you like'. Once you sit they proceed to say, and I quote, 'Anywhere but there'. Really? So your definition of 'anywhere' doesn't mean the actual definition of anywhere. You can stop playing games with customers and just tell people where to sit- like 99% of restaurants do. The menu... couldn't shake my head enough at what they offer. Gyros? No. But they will slop all of the gyro ingredients right onto a plate and call it a gyro plate. Guess no one has told them how to do a gyro. Someone should take the time to go to pocketless pita bread school and then come back and do it correctly. Ask around in the AV and you won't find one single person who voted this place #1 as their website claims. $20 says the owner is pompous enough to come and comment on our experience, when he should be pressure washing his awnings and sidewalk so the place doesn't look like the bottom of a bird cage after a bout of avian diarrhea. read more

Family and friend went here for dinner after a 3 day fast was not disappointed, the potatoes and feta were so good and so were the kabobs! Can't believe I somehow missed this place until now because I've been to the Chipotle next door many times! It's a small restaurant but when we went, it wasn't too busy. I was surprised so many people here mentioned having issues with service. That wasn't the case for us. The server was friendly enough. Food portions were generous! My partner ordered the Armenian Pizza which he liked. We ordered two Mediterranean plates, the falafel one and the chicken shawarma. I really enjoyed the flavors of the chicken shawarma. The hummus was also delicious and they served us fresh pita bread. The roasted pepper served with it is super spicy, so beware! We are from out of town and our daughter recommended this place. It's small but cozy. We placed our order and when it was served it looked better than the pictures. I had the Gyro plate that comes with rice, cabbage salad and hummus. The gyro meat was nice and warm and the sides tasted really good. Didn't like the roasted tomato but the jalapeño chile was good. Pita bread was a bit hard not soft or warm. Maybe work on the attention to detail when customers have empty drinks but other than that nice little place. read more
