Prime Rib dinner (take out)from Black Station Inn
    Robert H.

Black Station Inn is always a great stop for dinner. I love being able to dine with a local family-run restaurant. Especially while we're in shelter-in-place, their takeout meals have been absolutely wonderful. The photo attached is from the prime rib that I ordered this evening. Thanks for continuing to run a great local business!

OPEN sign was on so we stopped in on this surprisingly great Mom and Pop restaurant. He cooks the dinners, she makes desserts and serves. Super welcoming and friendly. Small operation. Everything was delicious! Would defiantly recommend and will stop in again!

We checked in after 6pm, so check in instructions were texted to us. Easy to follow. Was easy to find. We stopped at Wally's Pizza for dinner in Cameron Park based off their restaurant suggestions on their website and sent via text check in instructions. Great suggestion! The next mornings breakfast is texted the night before, offering some options like juice preference. And it's delivered around 9am the next morning. Since we had to be at rafting at 9 our first morning at the Inn, they delivered us fruit, scones, and juice early at 8:15am which was really nice. Breakfast was delicious, both mornings. And super fresh. We stayed in the Cypress room. Was as pictured online. Room was clean. The patio area is nice. We explored the grounds a bit our last morning and saw many places to sit around. We enjoyed some time up at the pond in the morning. The staff - I assume owners - were very friendly. We were very happy with our stay here and would return!

Our room was cozy and spotless. Thankful for the AC unit as we visited on a hot weekend. Our dog enjoyed relaxing in the shaded patio. Our bed was comfy, more on the soft than firm, but did not hurt my back whatsoever. -OMG THE BREAKFAST. Kim is an UH-mazing cook. Perfect portion, flavor, not too heavy/complex, but certainly delicious. I am glad to have visited Sonora, but not sure if I'd make it an annual trip, to replace it with Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, or Napa. Nothing terrible happened, but I didn't have my socks knocked off either. Maybe it was the hot weather...not sure! If you plan on visiting Gold Country, do stay at the Bradford Place Inn and Gardens! We will.

We loved this old Victorian home, it's beautiful. Some rooms, like ours, have a private patio area connected to your room. Very relaxing... Although, we don't have any pets, this place is "pet friendly". Next time, we're in the area, we'll be staying here again. Kim is such a gracious hostess and good person. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you staying here... I found this place to be very reasonable, relaxing, beautiful and includes a delicious breakfast, compared to a typical "no tell motel"!!!

We've visited South Lake many times over the years and honestly had never considered staying here before, but now it's officially our go-to spot. We stayed in the Rubicon wing on the ground floor, and our room had the loveliest fireplace that made everything feel extra warm and relaxing. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. Homemade cookies were waiting for us, and we loved unwinding with a glass of wine from the happy hour bar in the beautiful lobby. One of our favorite thoughtful touches was the essential oil diffuser bar in the main lodge. You can borrow a diffuser and choose your own oil to bring back to your room, which made the whole experience feel extra special and personalized. The whole property is small, quaint, and impeccably clean, which made it so peaceful to stroll around and take it all in. We already can't wait to come back and next time, we're bringing family with us. Such a special place!

You can't beat this location being so close to everything yet feeling off the path and quiet. The lodge is stunning and a wonderful place to relax, have a drink, play a game or read a book. And the cabin feels like a serene home with all the right touches. We couldn't wait to go back. This year we stayed in the King Suite because the cabins were booked. It was still lovely and cozy but more modern feeling than the cabins. It's more of a hotel feel; wood floors would probably help rather than the carpet. It's different than the Hideout Cabin which is probably my favorite place to stay- not just in Tahoe. The hot tub is great but don't expect powerful jets and unfortunately the jets in the suite tub didn't work. That and the lighting in the suite are my only critiques (it's a bit harsh and the bathroom switches are confusing) Still, we are as happy as can be here. The added diffuser bar was a nice touch and surprise because there was a diffuser in the cabin last time we stayed but it's nice you can pick your favorite scent now. The staff here is also fantastic. Very kind and helpful. I wanted to bring our whole family here for Christmas after our first visit but they opted for a large cabin together. After a second trip, I'm even more sure this is the best place in Tahoe to stay. I'd visit the lake JUST to stay here. Thanks, Black Bear Lodge, see you next time!

The park is divided into four RV areas, each with its own unique feel. There are two pools: one designed more for kids, and the other a simpler, quieter pool that adults tend to prefer, though both are fully family‑friendly. A couple of clubhouses are also available for group events if needed. Campsites come with full hookups--power, water, and sewer--along with generous green spaces between sites that make the whole area feel open and relaxed. Each site includes a picnic bench, which is surprisingly convenient. Security patrols the park regularly, creating a very safe environment. The property is pet‑friendly, with plenty of grassy areas for dogs and a paved walking trail that loops around the entire campground. I was actually surprised at how many dogs were around when I really looked but no barking or other surprises on the grass. In other words, very responsible dog owners. A shuttle runs on a regular schedule to pick up guests and take them to the main casino, where you'll find gambling, restaurants, and a variety of activities. The views are spectacular, with densely wooded hillsides, rolling terrain, and plenty of wildlife including deer, squirrels, and more. It's a beautiful, peaceful setting that adds a lot to the overall experience.

Two concerns 1: the night lighting is extremely bright compared to the original park. Way too bright!! This can be easily remedied by replacing the bulbs with a different color with less power. Every hotel seemed to be booked for some reason and due to poor planning we ended up here. A room was about $90 if I'm not mistaken. The hotel owner greeted us in the office to check in where we were asked or drivers license and a few forms of ID (kind of odd). He offered us two rooms- one without heat (it was VERY cold out) and one room with heat but it was the honey moon sweet and would cost more...and we weren't allowed to use the hot tub in it. Not that we would've wanted to after seeing our room. Upon opening the door I'm pretty sure I remember it hitting the bed and not being able to open the door fully. The room was REALLY long with a disgusting looking hot tub surrounded by mirrors and the end of this dungeon-like room. We put out bags down and began to investigate things- the bed sheets were stained- ew. The bathroom had no towels and the worst toilet paper of all time. (I actually went across to 7-11 and bought some for the sorry sods who'd have to stay there after me) This is were the room took a turn for the creepy- We were laying in bed watching tv and I got up to change the channel and my boyfriend noticed some scratches on my upper arm. They were fingernail marks that I would've remembered if I'd bumped into something but they just appeared. I didn't feel it happening. Very weird. At 3am after finally falling asleep- my car alarm went off. I went out to check it and saw a butt crack hanging out of the back of my truck. A 9-11 call later. South Lake Tahoe PD came and arrested the drunk guy who broke into my car, peed in it and broke a window. I was up til 6am filling out police reports and didn't get any sleep. I can't believe in a motel parking lot FULL of cars and rooms FULL of people not 1 person including the owners staying closest to my car didn't hear my car alarm going off for about 30 minutes and not even look out their window let alone complain to us that it was on. (we were in a room tucked way in back and it took us a while to figure out what was going on) The place was dirty, overpriced, in a weird neighborhood, and fucking haunted----and that's before we get into car burglary. The next night I rented a room on the 19th floor at Harveys---far away from any drunk homeless people.

My wife booked this place using Priceline. Unfortunately Priceline screwed the booking requirements; booking a single room w/ two double beds which should have been two rooms w/ double beds w/ an a joining door. While checking in we realized this & we thought our weekend was going to be ruined because we have two teenage kids & two adults sleeping on two double beds, not the ideal sleeping arrangements. Being the 4th of July weekend, the lady behind the counter could have easily said "sorry that is all we have" since they only had two other rooms available but NO!!! She didn't!!! Seeing my wife in complete dismay, She was very sweet & gave us a family room, which they normally don't rent out at the price of the single rate. Now I'm not saying she is going to do this for everyone but this lady saved our vacation. Now for the review: ~ Location is in walking distance to the Staleline, beaches, movie theater & all the local shoppes ~ 7-11 across the street, very convenient ~ The beds were comfortable & clean ~ Ceiling fan, A/C & fireplace in this room ~ Bathroom was a 1970s yellow but still clean & functional ~ Staff was very friendly ~ Ice Machine $0.25 only because it was outside by the parking lot ~ Plenty of Parking ~ Refrigerator got real cold (kept our fish lake trout we caught fresh) ~ Price very reasonable for the time of year & proximity ~ Noise: not too bad, I expected more. :~) Would I stay here again? You Bet I would!!!
