The food is excellent and they always keep a specials board running with what ever fresh produce is available. There's a handfull of tables and chairs at the front of the pub which gets the best of the sun and is great to enjoy your lunch or if the weathers bad, sit inside by the nice big open fire and warm up.

Whilst you order at the bar, they provide table service for your food and any additional drinks. I chose a tasty Pinot for the fish and was pleased with the bottle. Some pubs just don't get food wine right, but they seem to be clued in on this front at the Witch. It is a little tucked out of the way, so if you haven;t been before I would suggest a route finder or bringing a sat nav. If you arrive at Haywards Heath station, it's worth an inexpensive taxi fare and well worth venturing into Lindfield for. i would definitely return for a second helping!

This is my dad's local pub and has been for about 30 years so I know it really well. I've seen…read morequite a few landlords come and go over the years but the current family running it are by far the best. They have that perfect balance of looking after their locals (without making the place at all clicky) and being as welcoming as possible to the passing trade. The food is really good and they source all their produce locally. One of the locals farms Aberdeen Angus cows so the beef is bought directly from him. In the summer the garden gets pretty full up but is huge with plenty of climbing frames etc to keep the kids occupied. If you go on a Sunday (the roasts are excellent and really reasonable) there will definitely be a group of rosy cheeked men sitting at the bar drinking like there was no tomorrow. The one with the silver-grey hair making the most noise is my dad, I'm sure if you ask nicely he'll buy you a drink.

There were zero plates taken off the table that were not empty! I had the Halloumi burger, which had a great, crispy batter topped with some guacamole mayo with a red sauce on the side. Really good. Then we doubled down and hit the dessert menu! Two warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream and four plum tarts. We asked for some custard on the side because who doesn't like custard?! The pub decor is really comfy and tastefully furnished. The staff are friendly and down to earth and don't get flustered even when its completely rammed. My favourite part of the pub to sit is the cozy 'blackboard bar' which serves the best sirloin steak baguette and chips ever! They also stock some local Sussex wines here which are best enjoyed in the huge beer garden in the Summer!
