Jeff is an excellent photographer and I would recommend him to anybody. We hired him both for our engagement and wedding photos and we were blown away by his professionalism and the photo quality. Jeff and George photographed our wedding in June 2013. They were by far the best vendor we hired. Hire them! Seriously, Jeff did everything for us and helped keep us on schedule and had such a gracious and polite manner. I could not recommend Black Thumb any more highly. read more

I've got nothing but love for Black Thumb Studio (headed by the amazing Jeff Turner). My fella and I needed a photographer for our upcoming nuptials and there was no doubt in our minds that Black Thumb was where we were gonna go. After hearing so many amazing things about these guys and seeing the incredible photos they were putting out (I mean, seriously...just check out their website!) we were sold. Our initial meeting with Jeff was great. We met at a local sushi place and perused his catalog over some maki. The work really spoke for itself. The shots were interesting and the colors were beautiful. We weren't really interested in doing things a traditional way and Jeff was all for it. He was super personable and really easy to talk with. After we chose our package and signed the contract, Jeff scheduled an engagement photo session with us (which is included in the package!). We went on our session on Tuesday and had a blast! Jeff really listened to our ideas and seemed to understand right away what made us comfortable and what we weren't into. I explicitly told him I wasn't interested in looking back in 20 years to see all these cheesy pictures of me + my betrothed looking longingly into each others' eyes and that's exactly what he went on. Can't wait to see my pictures and am so excitied that Black Thumb will be apart of our wedding! read more

Yelp warns to not write a review "if you're connected in any way" to the business. I'm not, to be clear. But Jeff and George have become like extended members of the family- not only because they do amazing work that has helped us form the foundational memories of our family, but because they care immensely more than a small business is required to about their clients. And they act that way towards ALL of their clients. The first encounter I had with Jeff and George was when they photographed my best friend's wedding, at which I was MOH. They were so much more than standby wedding photographers getting the obligatory shots. They were sweating bullets by the end of the night because THEY. WERE. EVERYWHERE. It was like they had a pre-choreographed dance routine worked out. Capturing the important moments from multiple sides of the room and multiple angles. Getting right in the middle of the dance floor action. Making people laugh. Getting my dad to smile for a photo (NOBODY gets my dad to smile). I thought, "Well regardless of how the pics turn out, these guys are great fun." The thing is, their photos were exceptional. I was able to view the gallery online and had dozens of favorites. Wasn't even my wedding. But three years later, when I did get married, the only option for my wedding photographers was them. Like I said, I'm not actually connected to them in any way... but they made me feel special, and as though my wedding was really important. They arrived two days early (wedding was in Florida), scouted out the unknown location with me and my (now) husband, had a list of dozens of shot ideas, were incredibly organized and upbeat; and on the day of, they were covered in sweat again, because they refused to miss a single shot. They were nothing but professional, courteous, and KIND for three days. Did I mention Jeff carries bobby pins on him at all times because... #bridalupdos. And if you've ever been a bride whose expensive hairdo starts falling apart, you understand how invaluable that is. A few years after that my brother got married in MO. Again, only one photographer was an option for him: Black Thumb, Jeff and George. By then George had retired from the photo biz. The man CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT to help photograph my brother's wedding in the dead of summer Missouri heat. WHO DOES THAT? By now I half expected that I'd seen all the "wedding shots" they could achieve, but they blew us away again. Different but equally beautiful images... it's like they never run out of creative ideas. I can't imagine finding such joy in photographing the same sort of events all year long... but they genuinely do enjoy it. Their photos reflect that so authentically. Check out their website or their instagram. When you look at any photos they take, you see JOY. You see a love of what they do. You see genuine happiness because the people they photograph are genuinely happy being around them. They make their clients feel important, and beautiful, and special, and proud. Look at their work and try to tell me their photos are "just ok," I'd say you were out of your mind. read more

First off, I want to apologize for how long it took me to write this review! Such a slacker! Anyhoo, Jeff Turner and Black Thumb Studio are unbelievably amazing at what they do! My husband and I hired Jeff to photograph our April 2012 wedding, and we were thoroughly impressed! I have to give credit to my husband for remembering to get Jeff's card after meeting him at another couples wedding. Thanks babe!! From the first moment we met Jeff, I could tell that he would be the perfect photographer for us. He is so friendly and genuine and has a great playfulness about him that comes through in his photographs. The albums he brought with him to show us were gorgeous, but seriously all his photos are! I also really admire his creativity. I was looking for someone who could think outside the box a little, and he really came through! One of my favorite moments from our wedding day was when we hopped in Jeff's pickup (poofy dress and all) and zipped down the street to an old abandoned warehouse to take some couple shots. They are so stunning! I could go on and on, but I really just want to give a huge THANKS to Jeff, George, and Black Thumb Studio for doing such a beautiful job on our photos! If I could give Jeff 1,000 stars, I would. He is BY FAR the best photographer I have ever met and his photographs are stunning. My husband and I knew immediately after meeting Jeff that we wanted him to be our photographer for our wedding. Jeff is so professional, communicative, thorough, kind, creative, and friendly. Working with him was a breeze. Each time we talked or met for site visits, meetings, etc, I felt as though we were his only client and he was very in tune with what we wanted and how to make it happen. We got married at a gorgeous venue with several different places to take photos. Jeff walked us through each area, each idea he suggested, and let us choose what worked best for us. He never pressured us to do anything we didn't want and never balked when we gave him specific pictures that we wanted. His work is spectacular and the photos of our wedding made me cry. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Each person that has seen my wedding pictures has commented on how Jeff's photos are the best wedding photos they have ever seen. I have told everyone I know how amazing he is and would highly recommend him. He brought Wayne along with him to shoot our wedding. Wayne took so many cool pictures with different angles, creative elements, and focuses. Jeff and Wayne were so much fun. They even danced with our family and friends at the reception. We hired Jeff to do our wedding in July 2015. He was, in short, phenomenal. He'd done my husband's sister's wedding a few years ago and so we were familiar with him and his work before we hired him, and as soon as we sat down with him to chat about our wedding we knew that he was the right fit for us as well. Not only does he take incredible pictures, but he is a blast to work with, he made us feel super comfortable, and he was fantastic about responding to emails quickly and clearly. Absolutely one of our favorite wedding vendors. Our pictures are amazing--he got every shot we wanted and quite a few that we would never have even thought of. The way he was able to capture the emotions of the day is awesome. We are so incredibly thrilled with our wedding portfolio and have had several family and friends tell us that our wedding pictures are the best that they've ever seen. If I could give zero stars I would. Extremely unprofessional. Being in a blended family our daughter was having her senior pictures done. Jeff refused to meet on proofs etc. because he was friends with the ex and tried to say he could only meet with one parent. All the while being a blended family have had two other kids in which other local photographers provided all necessary information for purchase and provided exceptional service such as Catherine Broderick. I've never encountered such poor customer service who's business is supposed to depend on paying customers with courtesy and class. Something this business owner lacks. Pictures were ok but many better options in the area with professional services. read more

It's a shame that not more people write reviews on the Web for local businesses. If they did there would be pages and pages of 5 star reviews for Black Thumb. Jeff and his crew are extremely professional, but also fun. He has a way of making everyone feel comfortable and at ease during the whole process. He is more than capable at handling all of the last minute curve balls that can be thrown into a wedding project (or any other for that matter) and all the while he is adding in his own great style and stellar exposures. First you get a consult in which you can talk about what sort of thing you are looking for and potential locations and other details can be discussed, then a date is set. When the day comes it is a blast - even for people like my wife and I, who aren't into getting our photos taken. A few weeks later and you get to see a "sneak peek" on Facebook of some of your touched-up photos. Shortly afterwards you meet back with Black Thumb at their beautiful studio and go through your photos in HD quality on large display. This is when you get to order prints and different gifts with your new photos on them directly from Black Thumb. The whole experience is very professional and you leave feeling that you got your money's worth. I would recommend Black Thumb to anyone that wants pro photos for any occasion. My wife and I had ours taken for no special event and they were a huge hit. One sit-down with Jeff and his portfolio and you will be sold on Black Thumb as well. Their portraits and wedding material is really top notch. read more

I had hoped that when I finally found the man I was to marry, I would be able to have them photograph my wedding. AND I DID! Lets fast forward, February 2015 I GET ENGAGED to the most Incredible man, Steven Reyenger ! YAY! First thing we do after picking a date is call Keith! We were willing to change the date if he wasn't available, but lucky for us 2017 was not all booked and we decided on 7-1-17. In July 2016 we had a horrible tragedy, my sons father Jonathan had passed away. While trying to find a decent photo of him for the funeral I remember that we had family photos taken by Keith back in 2011. I looked high and low and couldn't find the disk that i had them on. So at 11:45 PM i emailed him probably the most dysfunctional email, asking if he still had these photos somewhere. With my surprise i received a email back almost immediately "I'm at a wedding but as soon as i get home i will send a link to you." My heart sank and i was in awe with how quick i had received the email and the link. These would be the only professional pictures my son would have with his father and they are so beautiful and mean to much to us. August 2016- We go for our engagement photos! Duxbury beach was beautiful and the pictures were fun, but i was still drowning in grief from losing such a close family member that i just didn't like the pictures. Keith was so understanding and found time in his VERY busy schedule to shoot us again. They came out magnificent. Wedding Day is here and its time for our "first look". We walked around the Boston Public Garden and took so many breathtaking photos! After we said our " I Do's" we all hopped aboard the Seaport Elite II and celebrated! The photos from that night give me a smile every time i look through them. Its like reliving the whole night all over again. Every smile, every little moment documented for us in such an amazing way. We are truly so grateful for Berryphotos- Keith and Katie. They have been so patient and kind. There are no word that can settle a brides head from spinning on their wedding day, but there was one thing i new i didn't have to worry about and it was how amazing the photos, our forever memories, would be. Our engagement shoot allowed us the chance not only for amazing photos, but also to spend time with him before the wedding day. He was very professional and efficient with the photos on the day of the wedding. He was able to command authority to keep everyone on timeline in a friendly way. The formal photos were through and efficient, allowing us to be able to use our cocktail hour to speak to guests (we took them before the ceremony and did a few photos after). Keith captured memories that we are excited to look at for years to come. He curated our photo gallery and gave us all of his photos without a limit. He got back to me super quickly (as he did with all of our other correspondences) and offered to film the reception as well - for a super affordable price - simply because he enjoys his work. Adam was easy and responsible to work with. His style was unobtrusive; most of our guests didn't even realize we had a videographer. The best part of all of it is that we now have beautiful DVD of our wedding ceremony and reception. I didn't want anything corny, just cleanly edited and well- captured documentation. Jeff and George photographed our wedding in August of 2012 at the Publick House in Sturbridge. Extremely professional...and beyond that, just good dudes. Super easy to work with. Take amazing pictures. Has a sense of humor if you have "great" picture ideas...(They're great in my mind!). We also did an engagement session with Jeff at the Public Gardens in Boston and got some amazing photos. At the wedding right after the ceremony, my wife's grandfather nearly passed out due to the heat. He went to the hospital for precautionary reasons, but was ok. That did, however, set the whole night back at least 30 minutes, maybe even an hour. Jeff worked the extra time without charging extra. Since that time, we have gone to Jeff for two maternity shoots, two newborn shoots, two 6-month shoots, and two 1-year shoots. We have so many amazing photographic memories because of Black Thumb Studio. Every time we do a photo shoot with him it's like waiting for Christmas morning to see the pictures. It's such an easy process too. You book an appointment and get your photos taken. You then schedule one in person picture ordering session. If you can't make it to that they have an online gallery that you are able to order from after the fact. Simple as that. After working with Jeff so many times, all I can say is that he's not just an incredible and knowledgeable photographer, but just someone you want to get to know and be friends with. Do yourself a favor. Hire them now...hire them often...you won't regret it! read more

Jeff Turner was not only a pleasure to speak to over the phone, but he is just as endearing in person. He is someone who gets to know each person in the couple individually before even accepting the job! Then he even remembers every detail 9 months later when meeting in person ( we live in Philadelphia). He is one of the most personable people I have met and he was able to make sure we knew what we wanted for our wedding - and to be honest, it was his strength- moments captured in time. Our wedding day flew by- but both of us, my husband and I, had the best time with Jeff and George. They made us feel comfortable and not forced into weird poses (please note we have only seen the preview on Facebook- and it's amazing!). I knew when we booked Black Thumb Studios- it was the best purchase we made for our wedding. Even over my dress!!! And not to toot my own horn, the dress rocks. Ladies and gents- if you are looking to be yourselves, not be uncomfortable, and catch genuine amazing moments, even in odd obstacles (our wedding day poured up until the last hours of our ceremony)- please choose Jeff Turner and Black Thumb Studios. I couldn't recommend them enough! Jeff and George photographed my wedding almost eight years ago. Admittedly, we put them in a difficult position by having a reality TV series come to film last minute. Jeff made sure to have my special moments put first through the intrusive nature of cameras and boom mics. Every photo was perfect, natural and without equipment. Jeff was by my side for most of the day and faded into the background so I could enjoy the precious moments before and during the ceremony. Leading up to the wedding we had several meetings with Jeff and he always accommodated. He answered my incessant questions as a first time bride-to-be. They were always met with patience. To make up for putting him in a difficult situation with the reality TV company, we took him and his wife out to dinner. His wife was just as kind and thoughtful as he is. It's been a pleasure to see his business expand and venture into some of the most interesting and inspiring photography. I treasure my wedding photos and will recommend Black Thumb to everyone. Jeff and his team have now helped us with 3 photo shoots at this point. The first, our engagement shoot, was so much fun and I knew right then that Jeff and Black Thumb Studio would be our photographer for life. Since then Jeff and his team have done our wedding and our maternity shoot. Every single time Jeff has been a pleasure to work with. I hate being in front of the camera but Jeff makes everyone feel so comfortable! Always relaxed, professional, and easy to work with. The pictures are always amazing and far superior than others! Jeff gets the pictures back quickly and gives sneak peeks too. My favorite part of taking photos with Jeff is never knowing when he's going to stop you to snap a pic. He has such an eye for the lighting and setting that you get a lot of unique shots that look simply stunning. I wouldn't hire anyone else to take out photos. Jeff and his team have fair prices for quality work. I just recommend booking with him ASAP because his schedule fills up quickly!! read more

Can't recommend Black Thumb enough. Jeff was great to work with. He was a lot of fun and very professional. After checking out Jeff's website for a while, I knew before our wedding that Jeff was who we wanted for our photographer, Our first meeting could not have gone better. Jeff is one of those people who you feel like you've known forever. We met with him several times before the wedding, one being for our engagement shoot. We had so much fun and got more complements on our photos. Any time I had a question with anything I felt comfortable to ask Jeff for his advice. He would respond to emails almost immediately and went above and beyond! If I could give Jeff and his team 2000 stars I would! Black Thumb Studio and Jeff has been taking my family and extended family's photos for the past 11 yrs!!! He has to be one of THE BEST photographers in all of the area! He is professional and has a great sense humor. The communication between us and him is wonderful. He always explained the "next steps" after the pictures were taken. I LOVE the "sneak peeks" he shares on the Black Thumb Studio page so that all my family is able to see them too. The way he is able to capture my kids personalities and actually get them to smile is nothing short of a miracle. If you knew my kids, you'd know this to be true. When I got engaged, first I told my family and friends, and then I found out when Black Thumb Studio was available. After getting to know Jeff through both my brother and sister's weddings, and a family photo session, I knew he needed to be our wedding photographer. He did not disappoint! In fact, he went above and beyond my already high expectations. Despite extreme weather for both the engagement session and wedding day, Jeff created the most beautiful photos we could have asked for. Black thumb is one of the very best out there! Such great talent they have for capturing amazing photos! Jeff did my sons senior photos and also did a shoot with me. It's hard for me to get comfortable in front of a camera posing and such he was so fantastic getting me to loosen up and have fun with the photos. Best photographer I have ever worked with! Jeff and his team are beyond professional and so fun to work with! My sister and I both used Black Thumb Studio for a our senior photos and couldn't have had a better experience not to mention the stunning photos! Simply fantastic. So professional and fun - a rare and difficult combination. Jeff did a shoot for our family while my wife was pregnant with our daughter. He engaged my 2 yr old son and made us all feel comfortable. We forgot the camera was there and just enjoyed each other. The pictures reflect the atmosphere. They were extraordinary! Book Jeff.
