A couple minutes later they called me back. Unfortunately they had no spaces but referred me to another campground and luckily they had a spot for us. Even though we weren't fortunate enough to stay at Hampton RV we were very impressed with their customer service. Thank you so much Josh! We stayed in the newly renovated lake house for the weekend and everything was lovely -- until the AC stopped working Saturday night. Not a big deal but we tried to reach the after hours maintenance number with no luck which was annoying. The next day when someone finally came (as we were leaving) there wasn't an apology or any type of compensation offered. (It had gotten really hot in the house that night.) So, 3 stars is mostly for the customer service (or lack of) rather than the amenities, which were really nice.

Uncle johnny's has built back bigger and better after the catastrophic hurricane helene floods. Huge new outfitter ON TRAIL! New bunk rooms and new private rooms all with new matresses. The outfitter has a full resupply, carries thermarest sleep systems, enlightened equipment quilts, kilts and puffers, topo shoes, and much more! Beautiful chill atmosphere with access to the nolichucky river.

Most being employees. will never be staying there again. Resupply is taxed at over 100% and sometimes closer to 200% in profits. Not satisfied and will NEVER return. camp across the street at the river and pay the $5 to shower if need be.

After enjoying the sunsets we sat by the fire evenings (firewood provided) and saw a few shooting stars. Great hiking close by--loved the Laurel Falls hike. At the suggestion of Hellbenders outfitters went kayaking on Wilbur lake which topped the list of best things we did all weekend. Simply spectacular. We planned to eat in so cannot speak to local restaurant scene other than we did stop for a snack at Big Dan's Bbq in Elizabethtown and it was very good. Would have liked to try the brewery next door but it didn't open until later. We didn't even get a chance to check out Watuga Lake other than drive around a bit and it looks beautiful. We are already planning our next trip and will definitely stay at Lake Haven campground again.

The large, pergola covered patio has more than ample seating, grills for bbqing, electricity, lights, and running water. The river water is clean, with a cool and refreshing breeze in the late afternoon. Most importantly, Miss Teresa, the owner, is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Beautiful and Serene Park…read more This park is located in the Cherokee National Forest. My Harley-Loving husband takes us here all the time, he has a ride he calls the Watuaga Lake Loop. It is a great ride in the hotter months because of the higher elevations. For him, it is a great ride through both the Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests just getting to this lake. I love the ride because I love the water views with the mountains in the background at this lake. I have posted a couple of photos. There are actually a few parks around this lake however this particular one seems especially nice. I have seen small boats on this lake but never noticed any water sports such has water skiing. I imagine the water is probably too cold for that even in the summer. So that being said, it is a very quiet lake. We love boating also and are considering a pontoon for this lake. The park has the basics -- restrooms and picnic tables. We generally just stop for a picnic lunch. Cannot beat the views for lunch. I recommend this park for a picnic, or a solitary quiet time, or a romantic day trip to just name a few suggestions.
