The food was incredible, the atmosphere was great, and the service completely changed our impression of the restaurant. Dea, our server, was exceptional -- attentive, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. She took the time to explain how the restaurant works, gave us great recommendations, and helped guide us through ordering, which made the experience feel seamless and enjoyable. The manager also came over to introduce himself and checked on us throughout the evening, which really showed the level of care and effort being put into customer experience. My friends and I were thrilled to get a Friday night reservation at Blackbird...everyone's been talking about this new restaurant and since we live here year-round we needed to get to this hot spot. And we were impressed! We had a 6pm reservation and arrived exactly on time, but still had to wait about 5 - 10 minutes. We had opted to sit outside when we made our reservation, and the outdoor area is very nice on the water. Shades kept the sun out of our eyes, and the area was not too loud at all even though it was packed. Our server was helpful, especially since this was our first visit to Blackbird. She offered suggestions on drinks (the Blackbird drink was outstanding), brought us the special gluten free menu (which has more options than the regular menu "GF" notations), and explained the family style servings. We started with the Orange Chili Calamari (AMAZING!) and the Short Rib and Bone Marrow Dumplings. And for dinner we shared the Garlic King Crab Noodles (again, this blew us all away and had huge pieces of crab throughout it in addition to the crab legs), Smoked Brisket Fried Rice (delicious) and the Beef & Broccoli (so so so tasty). We had high hopes for Blackbird in Naples, FL, and the food and service from our server and the kitchen were absolutely outstanding--hands down some of the best we've had in the area. The dishes were creative, perfectly executed, and worth every penny. Unfortunately, the host staff and the entire outdoor seating experience were a complete disgrace for a restaurant at this price point. We had a reservation, but when we checked in, no one asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating or if we had any preferences at all. They just sat us outside facing blank walls with zero view, 20 minutes passed our reserved time. Our table was basically in a walkway for the hotel--hotel guests and their dogs were constantly walking right past us the whole time. It felt cheap and chaotic, nothing like the upscale vibe the restaurant tries to project. This should have been a training moment for the front of the house on basic customer service. When we questioned the seating, the hostess was defensive and immature instead of helpful. She never offered to move us unless we waited 2 hours for an indoor table to open up, never sent a manager over, and not a single manager came near our table to check on us despite how clearly dissatisfied we were. We had a reservation and were treated like we were just a walk-in. At least we hope the hostess mentioned to a manager how unhappy we were. For what you're paying for the food at an upscale place like this, the outdoor area should actually represent the restaurant properly. It needs a major upgrade, and the host staff clearly needs more training on customer service and paying attention to where they're seating people. The hostesses are really rude. the first time i tried to come, they pretty much turned us away. a couple had given up a table that they didn't want. we said we would be less than an hour and they still wouldn't let us have the table that the other couple gave up. tonight, we waited quite a while for our table that wasn't ready. while i understand the 30 min past reservation time policy, its really disheartening to see other people be seated before us with similar party sizes. while we were waiting, the hostesses told everyone to wait in the already full bar with no seats, including a pregnant lady. it's as if they are on a script and there's no hospitality or humanity. when we finally got to our table, our server never introduced herself, and seemed like she was under pressure. she was very quick and matter of fact. i smiled at her and she didn't smile back, didn't take a joke. we had to ask twice for refreshments and pretty much got scolded on the second ask with, "it's coming." it feels like these hardworking people are instructed to not smile. not a single worker there did. the food was fine. everything came out hot. the crab rangoons were really fishy and drove me away from even trying the octopus. the sauce that was paired with the duck didn't really match with it. fortunately the fried rice was decent, but i would've asked for no ginger shavings as i didn't see it on the menu and personally am not a fan of straight ginger as it made the fried rice very spicy. i also had noted in my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. they did nothing. not even an acknowledgment. no acknowledgement of allergies either. the restaurant was loud, and had a hard time hearing the person diagonal from me. it feels like everyone is packed in like sardines and i had a hard time getting out from the table because the table behind us's chair was against one of our chairs. i'm glad i tried it after being told by so many people that its amazing, but i don't need to go back. did not live up to the hype. read more

Decided to check out Blackbird during my visit after seeing it while searching for high-end Asian fusion restaurants. Parking is complimentary valet only, which was convenient. In fact, I've previously left 5-star reviews because the food, atmosphere, and service have consistently been outstanding. The good: the food was still delicious, portions remain generous, and the ambiance is beautiful and unlike anywhere else in Naples. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. The service was not at the level I've come to expect, and what stood out most was how closely the tables were positioned. Yes. Don't wait any longer; book a reservation and get your ass to Blackbird! We didn't know how busy this restaurant would be. When we saw they offer happy hour through 10 PM on Mondays, we assumed that must mean it's a slower that night for them. Nope! There was a line almost out the door and standing room only in the bar room. Without a reservation and not wanting to wait an hour, the staff explained that we were more than welcome to sit outside and order drinks and small plates from the waitstaff out there. That seemed perfect for us as it was a beautiful night with the breeze coming off the waterway, and the heater keeping the chill off. We sat and ordered drunks and a couple appetizers to share. It was lovely. My favorite plate of the night was the Japanese eggplant and burrata. I did not know what to expect, but I can't wait to get it again. Foodie at heart here. Elevated and sophisticated asian cuisine is how I would describe Blackbird. This spot has many shareable dish's on the menu and are so generous with the portions. Thank goodness you don't have to worry about leaving famished. Also because that was one of my teens only requests when he let me pick out his birthday dinner spot. It was his 17th and Nemo was our server. Nemo heightened our experience by going above and beyond. His energy/personality and attention to detail was amazing. He also made sure to not let us go wout trying executive dessert chef Denise Elrod and her award winning desserts. Boy oh boy The Raspberry Pistachio was so worth every bite too! She definitely understood her assignment when thinking of these rich tastes to mix. Service and ambiance were very good. The food was good but not as interesting as other Asian fusion restaurants in other part of the country. My wife felt that the menu was far too limiting. The Peking duck was a definite highlight. Some of the other dishes were only so so. The Bao bun appetizer was a bit bland . egg rolls were nothing special. The orange chicken was lightly fried but for a dish served with Bok Chuy there was a minimal amount of bok chuy on the serving plate. The street noodles with beef had a decent flavor but the beef itself was very tough. The deserts would be helped by simpling down the ingredient's. We were seated in a very timely manner. Our server was named Gaga. She was fabulous as we have come to expect from prior visits. Similar to every previous visit, the food was incredibly packed with flavor. The portions are generous, and the service was top-notch. The drinks are also expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. The only feedback I can give, and I want to stress it's not negative is that they ask you online if it is a special occasion and I had replied that it was for a birthday and it wasn't until after we had paid the bill that we were asked if we were celebrating anything special. In her defense, she did still offer to bring us a complementary dessert, but we were so full we chose to pass on it. We have also had the pleasure of tasting all of them since we celebrated my daughter's birthday here and ordered the big dessert that includes a little bit of everything. AMAZING Food, Disappointing Service I debated whether to write this review because everyone has bad days, but I think this experience highlights the importance of proper training, communication, and staffing. FOOD Let me start by saying the food was outstanding. The quality, flavor, and presentation were exceptional. Every dish felt intentional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for excellent Asian cuisine, this is absolutely a place worth trying. The Tuna Crispy Rice was a standout and something I would highly recommend. SERVICE Unfortunately, the service left a very different impression. For context, Blackbird gave us a reservation time of 9:15 p.m. the day before. We did not choose that time ourselves. I understand that this was close to closing, but if guests are expected to finish within a specific timeframe, that should be communicated when the reservation is made and politely reiterated upon arrival. As someone who previously worked in upscale dining, I know that expectation can be communicated professionally. When we arrived, our waitress greeted us politely and explained the menu and portion sizes. Since it was our first visit, we appreciated that. After ordering, my partner and I briefly bowed our heads for a private prayer. The waitress approached during that moment and jokingly referred to us as "love birds." On its own, that wasn't a problem, but the interactions that followed felt increasingly uncomfortable. While we waited for our food, she returned numerous times asking whether we wanted to order additional items, despite our food not yet having arrived. Once our meals came out, we requested water and additional soft drinks. A younger staff member brought the water, left the bottle at our request, and was incredibly kind and accommodating. Shortly afterward, our waitress returned, criticized the other employee in front of us, removed the water bottle, and appeared frustrated when we asked to keep it. It created an awkward situation that guests should not be placed in. Later, when I asked for the menu again, the interaction felt dismissive. Rather than engaging with me directly, she handed the menu over while facing away. At that point, we decided we would finish up and leave. My partner attempted to order one additional item and requested the check. We were then informed that the kitchen was no longer serving hot food. While that's understandable near closing time, it would have been helpful if that information had been communicated earlier. The most concerning part of the evening occurred when we paid in cash. When our change was returned, more than $10 was missing. After my partner called attention to it, the waitress immediately produced a $10 bill and stated that she had been wondering where the extra money came from. At that point, we were simply ready to leave. The experience was frustrating because the food was genuinely excellent. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing, and the other employee who assisted us was wonderful. Giving it four stars because I only had the happy hour menu, and sometimes restaurants don't serve their best dishes on happy hour, so I will go back and try something off the main menu. Food was actually a 3/3.5 in my humble opinion. I'm also from Orlando, so big shoes to fill. We got the short-rib dumplings, which are just terribly dry and flavorless. I think it would've been better as a pan-fried dumpling, or even a steamed dumpling. We also had the worst edamame I've ever had, extra saucy, and the char was actually off-putting. The noodle dish we got was overly sweet, and again, just lacked the flavor I had read about in the Yelp reviews. Great Asian fusion spot in Naples We came to Blackbird with a slightly early reservation for our party of four on a Saturday evening in season. We were guided into the chic Asian themed dining room and seated promptly. The server, Savanah M was informative and friendly and walked us through the menu. She let us know that happy hour was still going and we could order from the happy hour menu or get drink specials. I ordered the Gangnam Style cocktail and it was delish. We ordered Truffle salmon crispy rice as a starter and it was very tasty, with a great crunch. We ordered several entrees to share including Miso black cod - fantastic and probably the best thing we had which is a high bar since everything was good, General Tao's Tikka Masala chicken - which was good but would be better by dropping the tikka masala mashup component, Chiang Mai pad Thai which was also very good. How do you beat happy hour with expertly crafted half-priced drinks and delicious discounted food in a gorgeous NYC-dining level setting? We arrived at opening on a Sunday night, and there was a line of guests waiting to be let in. Within 15 minutes of being sat, the entire place, including the outdoor tables, were full. Highly recommend making a reservation! There is bar seating just in case but it doesn't give the same jaw-dropping ambient experience. As we were not quite hungry yet, it was nice to just order drinks and enjoy those while waiting for servers to tend to other tables. Despite the busyness, we were still taken care of quickly and attentively, without any servers being overbearing. The manager even came by to see how our meal was, which was a classy touch. Two drinks each: I got the Kill Bill, which was one of my all-time favorite Mezcal-infused drinks, and then followed that up with the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon -- the server sold me on that by saying it "tasted like Christmas." Enough said. My mom got the Crazy Rich Asians, and it was perfectly balanced with vodka, lemongrass, apple, kiwi and cucumber. The short ribs were meaty, tender, and a generous portion for the price. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The server was friendly and answered all of our questions. The tables are very small, and there wasn't enough space for all the dishes we ordered. I had to ask twice for my Sprite because it never arrived the first time. When it came time to pack up our leftovers, the waitress started packaging the Orange Chicken and Fried Rice table-side, which felt messy and disruptive to the dining experience. The food was delicious, the ambiance was divine, and the atmosphere was transformative. The only downside of this experience was the wait time. We had a reservation for 8:30, checked in 5 minutes early, and still had to wait until around 8:55 to be seated. Also, when the server asked if we'd ever been here before and we said it was our first time, she didn't take any time to explain that this was a family style service, we had to ask how the menu was implemented after witnessing other tables around us sharing entrees. As always a restaurant owned by Scott Frielich is a 10/10 in every aspect. We have been huge fans of his restaurants for years, what we appreciate most about his specifically is how CONSISTENT they are. You can go 100 times and each time will be just as perfect as the last, which is so rare!! So happy to hear he was joining our coast over here in Naples! Absolutely beautiful restaurant! As soon as you enter you're transported to a high-end Asian decor restaurant. It was extremely busy and even with a reservation we waited an extra 20 minutes but thankfully were able to get a drink at the bar. I had the mulan mule to drink and the Bangkok Street Noodles. Everything was delicious. The food is family style portion so you can definitely share with two people (unless you're very hungry). It's a great date night spot. Best Chinese food I have ever had. WOW just wow. We started off with the lobster garlic noodle, came with so much lobster, and it was just honestly the best Asian noodles i have ever had. Next up is the miso cod. A lot of people say it's a lot like NOBU miso cod. I have to say as someone who loves NOBU this was better, it was more savory but still very sweet, no notes it was amazing. The final dish we had was the crab fried rice. The mixture of the beautiful crab with the sweet peppers and rice was breathtaking, it also had a lot of egg in it which I loved. The service was so good, our waitress gave good suggestions (especially on the year of the horse dessert). We sat outside which is nice because even though the inside is so beautiful and Instagram worthy, it is cold in there. Overall I am so in love with this place like I can't even express into words how much I love it. I also can't pick which meal is my favorite. But everyone needs to eat here because no Chinese/ asian food will compare to Blackbird !! read more

Hearing the hype about Blackbird and its success in Juniper we couldn't wait to get a reservation at the new Naples location. Get your reservation in early or you'll have to grab a drink at the bar as there will be a wait. Even on a packed weekend night, our experience was nothing short of phenomenal. The service was top notch, your food came out quick and all the dishes packed a ton of flavor. Our favorites of the night were the beef jerky, truffle salmon rice appetizers, the duck fried rice, Sichuan ribs, and Bangkok street noodles.
