I was a member of Blackhawk Church for the last 10 years and am really disappointed in the church lately. They have started to share their political leanings on social topics and even have a special session on it. My wife and I visited Blackhawk yesterday. She had worshipped there years ago and loved it. We were very disappointed. It seems like a great social club with great activities for all. I am extremely glad I didn't bring a non believer with us. Instead of hearing a Gospel presentation or a good Bible study they would have heard a message on making the world better at work or wherever. So they would have left thinking if they did what the sermon was about they would be ok with God on judgement day. I've regularly attended for a few months after moving to the area. The folks are very friendly, the teaching pastors seem personable, decent band, and so forth. Overall a nice church. You can listen to most services online. There is one (sort of major?) issue, and that is: every few weeks, the sermon has very superficial content. I'm referring to the sort of thing where the bullet points are something along the lines of: 1) Jesus did "such-and-such." You should be like that too. 2) Sometimes his disciples didn't do what they should. You should not be like that. 3) Here's a bunch of anecdotes, entertaining stories, or maybe even a gymnastics handstand (actually happened...) to go along with first two points. It feels like I'm in a kindergarten class. There's no "meat" or depth. I can't put my finger on it specifically, whether it's a lack of preparation, or they're just not much into the scripture reading for the week, or trying to make the content hit the least common denominator (i.e., not say anything that anyone could possibly disagree with). The reason I go to church is because pastors spend their whole lives studying and understanding the Bible. They become experts, and this is their opportunity to outpour what they've learned to those of us lay Christians who in turn can (hopefully) outpour the same to our own smaller circles. When a service sustains truth in such a meager proportion, I feel really disappointed in my own Christian walk. It's like I walk out the door the exact same person I was when I walked in. So yeah... if you attend regularly, 2 out of 3 weeks are going to be great -- you will be inspired to love God and people more. And then once a month or so, expect a complete flatline. read more

Traditional church service never really spoke to me, but at Blackhawk the modern messages seem to hit more at home for me. It's a big church but Blackhawk has plenty to offer so that you can be a part of a smaller group. Blackhawk is bring me back and closer to my faith, I'll always be grateful for this. Forgot to say, if you do like a traditional service Blackhawk offers that as well. read more

I am coming from Hillside Church (formerly Adventure) in Rocklin, CA and Bridgeway Church in Roseville, CA. I am used to MAGNIFICENT churches. This church was AWESOME. I am not sure I will be living in this area of Wisconsin and it makes me SUPER SAD. The message was EXCELLENT. I LOVED the music. I really felt at home. I did children's ministry at Hillside Church (formerly Adventure) for at least 4 years. I would feel really BLESSED if I were able to do children's ministry at this church. It was a FANTASTIC experience. I would LOVE to come back and ATTEND this church. I would TOTALLY recommend it to anyone who needs a church. read more

I love Blackhawk Church. I always leave rejuvenated and thankful for what I have. The pastors there including Chris and Tim are excellent speakers who read from the Bible and clearly share Jesus' teachings with their parishioners. read more
