Super friendly staff and a trinket for everyone. One of those places where you can score the most unlikeliest of items. For Pablo it was a Hessian Basmati rice Shopping bag and tiny Panda. For Janet it was Moonshine Pickles, Candied Pickles and Onions and Peach Bourbon Jam from Sonya's sundries, both delicious. We also got a great unanimous lunch recommendation for David's Catfish. Visited during our vacation to Navarre Beach and found some cute treasures here! The house is perfectly quaint and houses a good number of individual booths, with different vendors in each. There is also a separate cottage with children's clothing and boutique items. This is where I spent all of my money. We found resale tops, handmade dresses, toys and bows here. So adorable. I stopped in because I'm in the Pensacola area on vacation while scouting mid century furniture for a good friend who's an antique dealer (& who recently had to cancel his trip plans). Although my intention was not to review this business, the fact that there were no previous reviews dictated my decision. Upon my visit, the male owner was behind the checkout counter; his wife is also involved in this enterprise. Parking is plentiful. Open six days weekly-- Monday thru Saturday from 9 AM till 4 PM, THE BUSINESS NAME IS A MISNOMER. Instead of "Blackwater Trail Antiques & More," a more accurate business name would be useful. That is not a slight; rather, to attract the right clientele, the business requires a more reflective title-- perhaps BLACKWATER TRAIL GIFT & SOUVENIR SHOP...& MORE. There are items from multiple vendors housed within this 1925 building. Many are the property of the actual artisans, & most sit on shelves-- very organized, clean shelves. I found the handmade offerings to be of very good quality, as well as being well-marked & reasonably priced. This business is perhaps summed up BEST by the signage on the building's exterior, although I've reordered the categories to more accurately reflect the true nature of this business: Gift Shop, Jewelry, Boutique, Nautical, Shells, Souvenirs, Raw Honey, Books, Birdhouses, Vintage, & Antiques. Those snippets are an excellent indicator of what will greet you within the two buildings. There are MINIMAL ANTIQUES sold here, which was a let down, as well as the reasoning behind the three-star review. I found that most were not of high quality. The smattering expanded multiple decades. The condition of some was unsatisfactory. The much smaller, unmanned building on the property was where most were located. Quite a few were in need of repair. Minus security cameras, patrons are alone in this building. The main house consists of multiple small rooms. Impressive were the multiple vendors; many are obviously quite talented. I personally loved the honey display & found the Marijuana characters interesting. (I purchased a funny, screenprinted hand towel for a salty friend, as well as a red pepper bacon dip mix for a future party of bacon connoisseurs.) If I needed a QUICK & CUTE GIFT for a sister, spouse, friend, teacher, or coworker, this would be the establishment I'd not hesitate to frequent. However, if it were antique hunting I desired (which I did), I would drive on by. There simply were not enough antiques (or quality antiques) to satisfy my shopping goals. read more
