We were there fairly early on a Saturday night and the place was dead, but that meant we got to spend some time with the bartenders Giuseppe and Raffaele as they mixed up our drinks. This place is an interesting fusion of a tiki bar and a cocktail bar. It's less about that 60's island fantasy and more like ... modern tropical hip. But the cocktails were solid and the atmosphere was fun. I enjoyed a Canchanchara with Havana Club 7 year, honey spiced syrup and lime. Simple and delicious. I then enjoyed the Ceylon Old Fashioned - which uses Arrak, palm sugar, añejo rum, pineapple bitters and orange curaçao. My partner had their Platanos Daiquiri, which was blended with fresh bananas. We arrived at Keste on a Wednesday evening around 10 pm. My musician husband immediately noticed a drum kit--the first he had seen since we arrived in Italy. The amazing wait staff greeted us warmly and promptly handed us drink menus with clear prices, contrary to some reviews claiming they were overcharged. Our drinks arrived quickly, and we instantly felt at home. The locals, who seem to frequent this bar on Wednesday nights (which we learned is jam session night), asked if we played music. My husband, a drummer, was invited to collaborate on the drum kit--not once but multiple times throughout the night. What was meant to be a one-hour stop turned into an all-night amazing experience. The bar seemed to get even better as the night went on! The vibe at Keste was nothing short of incredible. The music, the owner, the staff, the openness, and the overall sense of belonging made us feel right at home. If you are a musician in Naples, this is THE place to be.
