I have had K-tip extensions installed before by other stylists and have never experienced pain like this. I understand some tightness can be normal the first night, but this was actual pain and tension from the moment they were installed. During the appointment, I told Linda multiple times that the extensions felt very tight and painful and that I did not like the placement, but the installation continued anyway. The bonds were very bulky, inconsistently sized, and placed very close to my scalp, which caused significant pain and tension. I want to be fair and say that the hair itself looked fine, and this is not about the appearance. The issue was the installation technique and placement. The bonds were too bulky and too close to the scalp, which made the extensions painful and could have caused damage to my natural hair if I had left them in. I contacted her about the pain and removal, and although I was in a lot of discomfort, I was patient and worked around her schedule and had them removed two days later when she was available. I was trying to be understanding and cooperative. I want to make it clear that I was not asking for a refund on the hair, since I brought my own hair. I only asked for a partial refund on the installation because I had to remove the extensions due to the pain and tension and was unable to keep them in. It's not that I expected her to be the only one at a loss -- I lost time, I lost money on the installation, and I left with my extensions removed and nothing to show for the service. I was simply asking for a fair partial refund for a service I was unable to keep in. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, Linda became dismissive and kept deflecting, repeatedly saying that I was "the first person who ever had an issue" and that was her reason for refusing a refund. She told me to "take it to court," and when I explained how much pain I was in, she said "you should have went to a hospital," which I found extremely unprofessional and insensitive. I remained calm and respectful the entire time and was simply trying to come to a fair resolution, but I was met with rudeness, defensiveness, and a complete lack of professionalism. She also made comments about my natural hair and implied I shouldn't even be getting extensions, which was very unprofessional to say after she had already agreed to do the service. She mentioned many times that she has been doing hair for years and has many clients, but based on my experience, the quality of the work, the environment, and the way this situation was handled did not reflect that. The service was done in a very small, crowded room that was not very clean, which added to the overall uncomfortable experience. This review is not because I changed my mind about extensions. I had to remove them because of the pain and tension, and I had communicated during the appointment that they were hurting while she was still installing them. This situation could have been handled very differently with more professionalism and care. There are many talented and professional extension stylists out there who prioritize proper technique, client comfort, and hair health. Unfortunately, this was not one of those experiences.
