Your standard dive bar, including loud retro rock music and a strong smell of urine in the corner. Sat at a high top in front of the window; the chairs were a mismatched height (too tall). Friendly female bartender, decent drinks, and a very sticky bar. Whaddya expect in Willimantic. read more

Got to stop in to my old stomping grounds, haven't been back to ECSU since 2002. Place was great (just how I remembered it), but the food has changed dramatically....so good! This place has the best Bar pizza around. Everything on their menu is great. A must try for all .

The food was pretty good but some food was a bit it overcooked. However the fries were very good and the water was good unlike other restaurants where it has an aftertaste. The service was great! ( Shoutout to Emma ). She was very nice to my family and I, and she was very quick on with bringing our food. The music was ok and most people were at the bar so I cant say much about the people but they all seemed like locals. read more

Solid dive bar. Large space and a good area for the pool table. There are great booths for groups and juke box, too. Beers on draft are pretty average, but there's something for everyone here. This was a good spot for a large group of us to gather, and it wasn't too loud, so we could all hear each other and mingle. read more

The service was poor! The bartender (Asian guy) just threw the check to our table. The drinks didn't even contain alcohols on it. We asked the server (Annie) said that she would remove the margarita from the check but did not. I am not even exaggerating. Tables weren't wiped down. There was an empty mini bottle stuck onto a piece of chewed gum inside the tabletop banner. Waitress didn't seem to know what drinks they had. She said "um" between almost every word. Drinks took way too long to come out. No one ever checked on us for refill. Guy who took our trash told us he can't get refills, and that he was only there to take trash. I guess he never told his coworkers that a table needed refills because no one walking around even made eye contact with us! They did not make a good impression! read more

This place is a hidden gem!!! Justin is the owner, and he was a very chill & hospitable guy. My buddy and I went here on the Sunday before Labor Day. Since it's next door to Eastern Connecticut State University and nobody had class Monday, the place got packed. Some employees were at the bar and told us some pretty funny stories. I was extremely impressed by the wide selection on tap... and the fact that there wasn't much of the Bud, Coors, Miller kind. Nice work w/ the Leinenkugel!! 4am is a damn good last call, but peppercorn parmesan wings were even better! I know where I'm kickin it next time I'm in Connecticut. read more

Used to order here a lot until I was delivered the most pathetic salad. When I called to request a refund for the $14 salad, I was told there was nothing that could be done because the owner wasnt there. Thats after the girl who took my order told me I was wrong because she had the same thing earlier and it was fine. What?! Customer service and food are very poor there. Ehhhh.. the only reason we go here is because all of ECSU goes. The bartenders need better training. One lost my Debit card for a half hour. And there is always a confusion with WHO IS PAYING for the drinks ordered... How about instead of asking who is paying, so that the drunk person who ordered can point to someone else.. you immediately charge the person who actually ordered the drinks.... common sense people. Another horrible fact :( We had to contact the health department because the bones on their wings were falling apart... really gross. For an overpriced night with bad food go here! read more

Blarney's Cafe is a great neighborhood pub. I've been enjoying friends and the staff there for more than...well, a lot of years. :D Just stopped in for a beer today and I was the only customer. The great thing is the staff treats you like we are all in their living room - it's beautiful. Plus they are funny as hell and enjoy giving and receiving laughs and stories. This place sucks. I have never felt so compelled to tell a 'bar' to f*ck off! Staff have no manners, the owner is ignorant, bartenders are vaguely rude, self absorbed- all under age and suck at their job, they barely know how to make a proper drink. You think they could hire someone who responds to the customers inquiries without any arrogance or attitude in their tone. That may sound mean but rather RECOGNIZING inept and inappropriate is a very important component of building a GREAT franchise. One would think these days they would be trying. This place smells foul and the bathrooms are unkept. It's been 5 years now since I spent a single dollar in this place. They've lost a couple thousand now in sales to me. I hope the $3 they made on the cup of water they charged me for is paying their bills, God knows I'm not. read more

Blarneys, a local hot spot for those attending Eastern Connecticut State University is a decent pub. Located off Main St in Willimantic, Blarneys is a well none spot in the community and is usually a pretty good time. I would say that Blarneys is a pretty fun pub when you are up for the loud and packed atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night. The bar is rather open and less of an Irish pub and more of a college "hot-spot". The bartenders have always been very attentive and helpful. One of my first stops in, a friend and I ventured in on a Friday afternoon to start the day, and I had noticed they had a t-shirt up on the back of the bar of a little leprechaun. I had asked how i can purchase this shirt. That t-shirt at the time was not for sale but was given as a reward if you could handle their "insanity" wings. After a little razzing from my friend I took on the challenge. About 20 min later and about 3 Guinness, I completed the challenge and walked out a proud, sweaty man. The wings were just as described, INSANITY! but good. The beer selections were always good and rather cheap. Other than the super spicy wings that I ordered, each time I have gone in and gotten food it was typical pub food, which I always enjoy with a few brews and some good company! Located on a small side street, parking is usually pretty rough on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. Definitely a fun place to check out! read more

Went here for lunch and the food was awful. I get that it is more of the bar scene but everything was closed since it was a sunday. One of my friends ordered two things on the menu and not until my food came out did the waiter tell us that they didn't have it. Messed up our food order. Our chicken sandwiches seemed to have been in the fryer way too long...they were burnt and crunchy. The service was not that great either. The waiter did not even give us a bill or show us how much our lunch was he just asked for our money & charged us for the food they didn't have. read more

On the eve of my friend's 22nd Birthday, my friends and I decided to go to blarneys. We were having a great time until come closing. There were barely any announcements come closing time so we didn't notice people were being asked to leave. Next thing I know my good friend was thrown down the stairs by the throat by the bouncer, I was incredibly disturbed and scared. The bouncer had come up to us and said to leave and my friend said a small comment, nothing aggressive and for some reason the bouncer decided grabbing him by the throat and throwing him down the stairs was a reasonable thing to do. So if you don't like being grabbed by the throat and thrown down stairs, for NO REASON,DON'T COME HERE. read more

During one of my classes at ECSU we had a dinner break, so my friend and I went to Blarney's to get wings. The woman at the counter was friendly and helped us with our order. As my friend and I left with wings in hand to go back to class. A guy starts to come after us, so my friend and I turned around in concern, and the man vioently takes the wings out of our hands and takes them back into Blarney's. We chase after him and he acussed us of stealing the baskets the wings and says we got the in restraunt deal, not the to go. I tried to explain the situation that we were not trying to steal at all (WE PAID FOR THEM), but it was mistaken for a non-to-go order, but he rudley ignored and would not reason with us. He then disapered into the back. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I understand that working in a dive college bar you need to be tougher, but it was 5pm and we were the only ones there. I wish that this man finds happiness in his life and is more understanding. Also my friend is black so this could have been an act of racism. And I've been there before...they don't even know how to make a mojito. read more

I hate that my ID is bent and twisted by the bouncer every time I go in! Sometimes I have had to straighten out my ID to its normal shape. I really love this bar, but please figure out a different way to tell whether an ID is fake. read more

It's a gross place. The bartenders have horrible customer service skills. They were extremely rude and unable to answer any questions without an attitude. I also felt personally violated by the bouncers. I hope this place goes out of business read more
