For the trip to this bar there were six of us. We waited around a bit to get served by the one bartender working after she was done socializing. The drinks were priced well, the bar was relatively clean and open to walk around, there is parking behind the bar. The bathrooms however were not kept up well, there was a strong smell of urine and vomit and it was 7pm on a Friday night. The crowd was mainly locals or folks living around the area. There was a pool table, some TVs and music playing. The bartender took a break leaving the bar empty and waiting for refills, us included. Overall a pretty basic local bar with well priced drinks (the round for 6 was $18)

The new Monte Carlo is one of the nicers bars in town simply because most of it was redone in 2009…read more(?). It has an extremely local crowd on most nights, and while it isn't a dive bar because the furniture is nice, it walks that line. At the same time, it's become kind of an oasis for a younger crowd as well as they're looking to escape from the same old bars. It has a nice juke box, pool table and dart boards while offering up a good variety of beer and drinks. It's off the beaten path, but definitely one my favorites in town.

I felt bad because he had to deal with 6 loud young teens that did not even order yet. We left at exactly 11pm when they close. The group had just ordered their food. I tend to really hate going in before close because I fee rude. Sadly, we were starving from a 6 hour drive and no service.

We first popped in here during the Irontown Classics Car Show. The rain was just starting and we ducked in. The place was rather busy afterward, so I was glad that we scored some seats at the bar. The patrons there are friendly right off the bat (and have been so for every visit afterward). Everyone loves to talk about the sports that are on the TV (there are quite a few TVs at Smarty's!), as well as discuss the area happenings. We have been made to feel welcome, with genuine smiles and greetings every time we walk in. As an NMU Wildcat, I really love that they show the 'Cats in action whenever they're televised. I've really missed being here in the Yoop, so glad to call Smarty's my local watering hole.
