Meh. Blessings II Go is a Chinese takeout place like any other. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, which is what I almost always order at any Chinese place. I thought the sauce was fantastic - some of the tastiest I've had. The chicken, though, was mushy and not at all crispy the way it should be. The portion was also a little smaller than I'm used to getting from other places. Inside, the ambience was nice considering it's just a takeout place. There were a few tables I could have eaten at, and it looked clean enough. I suppose a second try is in order, but all in all, it was a bit underwhelming. read more

Easily one of the better Chinese fast food places in New Haven. The service is seemless and consistently very friendly, which is not universally true at places like this. They have good hot sauce packets for those of us who like our Chinese food a bit spicier. The fried stuff (General Tso's Chicken, fried shrimp) is always reliably crispy. One possible issue: their East Rock location makes their prices a little higher than some of the other Americanized Chinese places a bit further east from them (e.g., along Grand Ave.), probably a reflection of higher rents. Fortunately, Blessings II Go in New Haven is open until 11pm! In the great state of Connecticut - that's huge. Very quick turnaround meant our craving got satisfied in no time...always a great thing! Despite forgetting to give us the Crab Rangoon we ordered (it took me a while to recover...), the food was pretty decent and cheap. Stay away. Order at your own risk. Order delivered was completely wrong. Driver demanded a 5 dollar tip. His delivery fee he said. When the redelivered our food came with a 64 cent charge. I kid you not. Manager said what they sent us and what we owed yhere was a difference of 64 cents. Never again. Food was cold and bland. read more

Stop at blessings to grab a bite time said 11:30pm but their door was still open however when we got there the owner she saw us even said hello she got caught up with other things (seems like they had 3 workers who needed a car removed from drive way) and then when she realize that we're ordering then she goes I'm sorry we're closed that was after five minutes of standing in the store. If you are reading this... save yourself, it's too late for me, but save yourself. Chiang Kai-shek and Chairman Mao could agree on this... hideous. I can only assume that it has changed hands since the glowing reviews, or that the writers were suffering from MSG induced hallucinations. OK, in case I expire before tomorrow, here are the details. Cold Sesame Noodles... at least they were in fact cold. Other than that, the closest this "sauce" came to sesame was if the cook said "Open Sesame" as he opened the lid on the jar and spooned this stuff on. General Tso's Chicken would make McNuggets ashamed to be chicken. Some kind of ground up ersatz fat and chicken mulch that were liberally coated in some day glo red sauce, probably left over from a jar of Marachino cherries, with a pepper thrown in for "heat"... so flavorless that I can't even comment on the taste, only the texture which I will undoubtedly relive in countless nightmares. And as reported previously, the "brown" rice isn't. Unless tumeric or Soviet toxic waste counts. Fail... utter abysmal fail on all counts. Fail even by food cart standards... fail that makes the Edsel look like a triumph. I walked the fine line between not wanting to go to bed hungry and not wanting to offer my thanks to the porcelain altar but the rest has gone in the dumpster... with a skull and crossbones on it lest a desperate homeless person be poisoned. The ability to order delivery online through Yelp is absolutely fantastic. I have used it to order from this place twice for lunchtime emergencies. The food is pretty standard in variety and quality. It is a solid option for lunch when I don't feel like battling the cold to run to the carts. The orders also have an optional field for text and special instructions, which this place is awesome about reading and fulfilling. I think they do some dishes better than others, but I'm a fan of their wonton soup and broccoli with garlic sauce (I thought the lo mein and sesame chicken was just okay). I've ordered from this restaurant for years for delivery. Something has changed with the quality and amount of food that they provide: I always ordered the House Special Mei Fun and it was always delicious. I ordered it the other night and even though I paid extra for beef , there was hardly any meat in it and I don't think they are using rice noodles any more. The shrimp rolls had not shrimp in them. One other point: If you use your credit/debit card, be aware that all of your personal information is listed on the receipt: your name, your address, your phone number and your full credit card number. They don't ex out any of the numbers. I have spoken to them about this, but they haven't updated their software in years. read more

Nothing amazing, but the prices are good and you can order either a full or half portion, plus its easy to park right in front, unlike some of the places downtown. I ordered the chicken and broccoli to go this past Friday night. I got home and realized that they gave me spoiled chicken. I could smell the rot through all of the sauce/flavoring. Ordered General Tso Chicken, pork fried rice and two egg rolls. The Egg Rolls and Fried Rice was great, the chicken had what I call "filler" its the clear gooey filler and after 5 minutes of eating I vomited. It's just gross. I tipped 3 dollar and I know that is not a lot but for me it is. I asked for a refund with no with them keeping the 3 dollars . they said I need to bring the food to them, but I am disabled and cant make it that far. We waited over an hour and a half for a small order to be delivered after having ordered it, the food was extremely cold and unappetizing, and when we called to ask for the total and the later called to ask how much longer it would be, both times we were told a manager would call with the answer and hung up on. When called back about our wait time we were told she would call the driver and see where he was then call us back with a new time estimate, we never got a call back, received our food almost 20 minutes later and our number had been blocked by the restaurant which we found out by calling to complain.
