Blinkers Restaurant is smack bang in the centre of town. I can't remember a time in my life when it wasn't there. This has been one of the go to places for lunch whenever I was young and being dragged around the shops by my mum. The food, is homely and rustic. You get no surprises, the menu's been the same for years and I do believe the specials of the day have been the same since the dawn of time. But that doesn't matter. It's an old school family restaurant that is rarely seen in Belfast these days. The prices are miniscule compared to a lot of other places in town. I have the same thing every time I go, the Roast chicken with mash and peas. It's simple, comfort food; food I've been eating for years and sometimes that's all you want. read more

Oh I'm sorry for being the Simon Cowell of the Yelping world, but this place has all of the imagination as a blade of grass. The food, yes is "wholesome", but it is also the sort of stuff I make at home. What's the point of going somewhere for a meal if you can make it at home for cheaper and nicer? It is not a fancy spot. It is anything but that. Think somewhere your parents met during the 80s and just as they were falling in love, your mum looked at her Casio watch and had to get home before her father (your grandfather) got back from the coalmines because she had to make him his dinner while he watched this young scamp Barry McGuigan box on the black and white tele... And then fast forward 30 years and it is still the same. There are a few hidden gems around here, some which really do deserve a five star review (Orrs, First Fruit) but this really is not one of them. Terrible. read more

Blinker's is a great place if you're just looking for some good, solid food without any of the frills. Prices are nice and cheap - meals with a side usually run in the £5 price range, sometimes with tea. My favorite part of Blinkers is the fact that you can pretty much get breakfast any time you want during the day. Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. If someone asked me what a Texas roadside diner was like, I'd point them to Blinker's. Bonus points for having a jar of salsa (even if it was Old El Paso) in the refrigerator. Blinkers has not changed in any way in like, forever! It is the place we were dragged to as kids and now the place we drag our kids! It had that great American retro diner feel about it and you really do feel like you've gone back in time! The menu is still the same- why change what isn't broken?, and offers the usual burgers, chips, sausages, fish, salads, goujons and pies. The food really is good to and they serve and all day ulster fry which is really nice and very filling! Blikers is definitely one place you wont go away from feeling hungry! The portions are vast and the priced low so it really is win win! I especially love their goujons and chips and their coleslaw is really nice too!! Located just off the main shopping track it is the perfect place for a Friday lunchtime fry or those days you just fancy a toasty. Blinker's Cafe is a greasy spoon. It's dull, old fashioned and depressing to sit in. I've eaten here a couple of times in the past but will not return. They serve chippy and fry up style food which I found disappointing, bland and boring. Vegetarian options are extremely limited e.g. just vegetable soup, egg and chips or sweet desserts. Coffee and tea were not good either, nor was the service particularly pleasant on either of my visits. Blinker's Cafe is just not for me, I think there are better cafes around Belfast. read more

I've no idea when Blinkers was established, but it's been here in Belfast for as long as I can remember, and to memory I don't think anything's ever changed. The decor now is how I've always remembered it! I've eaten in here quite a number of times, on shopping trips in town with my mum, and in my student days when I was hanging around town and we were probably more looking for a place to shelter from the rain than anything else. It's been called a greasy spoon, and I think this is a very fair description! They do a very standard café menu, burgers, chips, curry, fries, sandwiches, baked potatoes, pastries, and various specials. The food I've had here has been perfectly decent and reasonably priced too, and in years gone by I'd have been more than happy, however in the last 10 years, Belfast has changed massively. The Belfast of old used to be filled with 'greasy spoons' and Blinkers was one of the best of them all. Nowadays, loads of great eateries are opening their doors across our city, offering something, different and new. This is the sort of thing I am interested in, so for that reason, I doubt I'll be back in Blinkers. read more

Went for my first visit to Blinkers with the family for breakfast and I was very surprised. The service from the moment you go in is excellent and so friendly. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and the staff where great with each of them. The fry I got was lovely, not to greasy and everything had that proper home made taste. The service from order to getting your food is very quick and the price overall was very very fair. Definitely going back. read more

This used to be my grannies favourite cafe to take me into when we were In the town for a shop. Lots of seating booths inside and spacious, although if you have a buggy it can be a bit cramped. Good menu with plenty of choice, they have a chalkboard displaying what the meal special is on that day. Toilets at the back of the cafe. Toilets can be cramped and can be a bit smelly and messy, the food is good. I got the lasagne and chips with coleslaw which I thought was quite nice. Staff are friendly and attentive. read more

What can I say about Blinkers? This place has been in Belfast since the '50's and has managed to retain that 'summer of love' American diner feel. It serves all the usual suspects-burgers, chips, chicken goujons-but what makes Blinker's special is that it takes you back 50 years. It's never really moved on from that time which isn't a bad thing for any means. I used to eat in blinkers on a regular basis usually at least twice a week but a few months ago things changed iam not sure why but most of the old staff have been replaced and the food just isint what it used to be the prices have also been raised considerably. Although i still visit occasionally i feel that the quality of the food has without a doubt dropped considerbally and i personally dont see any reason for this at all. read more

This is your typical greasy spoon cafe - but every now and then its just irresistable! It is usually really busy but you get served fairly quickly. The menu is quite extensive - but all of the corner cafe variety e.g. Burger and Chips, fried Egg and Chip, roast chicken dinner etc. If you are in the mood for greasy fried food then i would recommend giving Blinkers a try. Its a great location close to some of the best shops. read more

This café/restaurant is something of an institution in Belfast. It's been around since before I can remember and back in my school days we used to always come here on a Friday afternoon and order their Fri special consists of chips, beans and sausages, ah those were the days, and the food was a bargain. I think the special was something like £2 back then, ah bliss! Well, my reason for writing is that on Friday, when Culture Night was nearing an end and my poor alcohol soaked tummy decided it wanted some food I discovered Blinkers was open late until 10pm to cater to the hungry hordes around the town. Well, I jumped for joy and couldn't wait to get something in me. My friend and I both decided we'd try the steak, which at £8 was a complete steal! Mine came with a huge side salad (which was great considering I'd been to a fancy restaurant earlier that day and s 'salad' was 4 leaves prettily placed on top one another. Well, I was glad to see somewhere that offer proper portions. Ok the steak wasn't the best, but it was pretty damn good for the price. I'm so glad the café was open as were the many others who filled the seats. So Blinkers still lives on in my great expectations of being a great spot in busy Belfast. read more
