Right away, I realized this wasn't just another barbershop--it's a full salon experience designed especially for men. My husband had always been curious about waxing his nose and ears, and shaving his head is a chore he's never enjoyed. So I decided to treat him: I booked a head shave, waxing, facial, and beard trim online. Even though I accidentally chose a day the shop was closed, I was still able to leave a voicemail asking someone to return my call--I needed to make very clear that no length should be taken off his beard. I'd made the mistake of taking him somewhere over a year ago, and despite my instructions, the barber chopped his beard down. He tried to hide his disappointment from me, but I knew how much it bothered him. I couldn't let that happen again. The next day, the sweetest woman named Amy called me back. She let me know that a stylist named Kim would be handling his services and listened so kindly as I explained the beard trauma. Amy promised to pass along the message and have Kim call me directly--and she did. Kim was just as kind and reassuring, and by the time I hung up, I was confident my husband would be in good hands. I kept the appointment a surprise until we walked in. He was a little nervous at first, but both Amy and Kim were there to greet us and walk him through everything. Kim made sure he felt totally in control of what would happen with his beard, and I could see his shoulders start to relax. When Amy offered him a glass of whiskey (this is an adults-only salon--LOVE that!), and he actually accepted it, I knew he was ready to enjoy the experience. While Kim worked her magic, I chatted with Amy, who was just an absolute joy to talk to. Eventually, I decided to hang out in the car and watch TikTok and Netflix--not because I was uncomfortable, but because I wanted to give my husband space to fully soak in the pampering without feeling watched. Let the man enjoy that head massage in peace! When he called me after the service, I could hear how refreshed he felt in his voice. When I walked back in, he was grinning from ear to ear, chatting happily with Kim and Amy. I was so touched, I hugged them both before we left. And the best part? He LOVED how Kim shaped his beard--and so did I. It was absolutely perfect. Thank you, Kim!! He does so much for us as a family, and I just wanted him to experience a day of pampering meant just for him. On the drive home, he said, "I might want to do this once a month." That made me smile so big. Thank you, Amy and Kim, for being so warm, professional, and amazing. Gents of Savannah is now the only place we'll go.
