My floors look gorgeous! We recently purchased a home that was full of golden brown old carpet. We went to Blodgett's for several reasons - primarily their reputation in the community and our longstanding relationship as a repeat customer. Karen had great design knowledge and was able to pull samples that matched my vision without hesitation. Larry offered his experience with the different flooring products and helped us decide which would be best for long term durability and still work within our budget and style. Needless to say it was an easy process with their help versus overwhelming decision because of so many choices in the store. Then we get to the install...I think we did about 1000 square feet of flooring which doesn't seem like a huge deal other than the fact that my house meanders from room to room like a maze. Chris and Manny had all of the stinky old carpet out of my house within 2 hours. The install was complete in two days (1 day faster than expected). They were extremely professional and treated my house with utmost respect as they cut flooring outside, worked around my very curious dogs and did a beautiful job! They also did everything they could to handle a challenging transition to make it look perfect! I can't say enough about the whole experience and how pleasant it was from start to finish! read more

Can't say I share the glowing experience reported by other customers. Several miscues associated with recent installation of new living room carpet: initial guesstimate price by woman at desk was several hundred dollars less than final tab; had to reschedule installation from before Thanksgiving til after the holiday due to sick staff; when initial installation occurred, they didn't have enough carpet and had to leave one corner unfinished; couldn't keep first estimated date for completing the project because "factory" delivered final extra piece in the wrong color. The entire project dragged on 3 weeks longer than it should have. Through it all, several times I called the main phone line and had my calls go unanswered (with no message service) during normal business hours. In the end, the carpet looks fine and I did appreciate the good humor and seeming competence of the two workers who did the installation. But I don't feel I received good value or great service on this job, and will think long and hard before investing again in the "premium" experience supposedly delivered by this long-time local business. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with this company. Karen (who runs the company with her husband) was helpful from the moment I walked in the door. She showed me carpet options, explained price differences and actually steered me AWAY from the higher priced carpets. She gave me her honest opinion when I asked for it, guided me in determing what type of color and pattern would work best and ultimately helped me find carpet that was absolutely perfect for my bedrooms. The installation team was on time, extremely professional, and did an amazing job. They have worked with Blodgett's for years so they really know their stuff. Blodgett's is outstanding! I've outfitted my entire house in blinds from Blodgett's and Larry took the time to explain the nuances between the different designs and materials. We did have a problem w/ one of the string pulls on a blind, however Larry was right on it, sending the blind back in and replacing it in an expeditious manner. Great selection and no pressure sales worked really well while out shopping with my Mom. Karen was just right: answered our questions but didn't hover so we could talk. Larry has a ton of experience working in Rossmoor, which is invaluable (if you've ever had work done on a Rossmoor unit, you know what I mean). They did a wonderful job installing hardwood and linoleum ( (living room, dining room, hallway, kitchen) - my Mom's floors are beautiful! Staff was very helpful and understanding when a new job resulted in a family mis-communication. Larry immediately got a workman out to plane a door that wouldn't open, even though explicitly not covered by the contract. Great service at every step of the process from selecting the flooring to pricing, to scheduling, to completion! My mother's kitchen floor (installed by Blodgett's in the 1980's and otherwise still fine!) was ruined by an ice maker leak. Larry was very accommodating of our decision-making process and, when we were finally ready to go, the installation was efficient and flawless. Master installer, Joe, did a beautiful job cutting the flooring to size and shape so it went in all in one piece. No seams and no gaps anywhere! We had a fire in our home in December and after dealing with myriad companies in the rebuilding process...Blodgetts was a breath of fresh air! They came in and measured the affected area and gave us choices that would work within our budget. Larry and his crew did an incredible job replacing almost half of the flooring in our home with beautiful engineered hardword. While we spent 3 days in San Diego, they moved furniture, ripped up old hardwood and carpet, and laid the new floor. When we returned, the only evidence of all the work was the gleaming new floor. Be aware, the prices are competitive but may not be your lowest quote. However, Larry was the only consultation that noticed and asked about several issues that had an impact on the installation. His solutions gave us perfect results. No idea what others would have done. You get what you pay for. I'm calling them right now to book new carpet for 3 bedrooms! read more

I paid extra for rush delivery to have my floor in a week. And then I waited a month. Which was how long regular delivery time should have been. I was not impressed with their customer service and the kitchen floor installation was fair, nothing beyond that. They refused to refund, or address my concerns, over the rush delivery fee. I would not do business with them again. We've since used home depot and received much better service from their sales & installation folks. read more

I needed to order a new floor, and after I picked out a sample Larry came out and measured and I soon had the estimate. He followed up a week or two later, encouraging me to place the order. I was coordinating some other parts of my project so had planned to hold off ordering right away but he encouraged me to get on the installation schedule as it was filling up for the next several weeks. I appreciated his follow-through. After I sent the deposit, Larry discovered that since my initial inquiry the flooring had become back ordered for several months. We were back at square one! I really wanted to use Blodgett's, but unfortunately, there was no other product in their lines that really made sense with my project. Larry and Karen spent a lot of time trying to find a good alternative. This is an old-world business with great service. Selecting carpeting is a difficult and confusing task for those of us who do it only once every ten or twenty years.
