We came across Chez Theresa at the Cours Saleya Market which is well worth visiting on its own. Chez Theresa came highly recommended for Socca so we decided to grab a fresh one, along with one order of Trouchia. Socca is a thin, crispy-edged pancake made from chickpea flour that's soft & creamy on the center and crispy and smoky on the outside. I enjoyed it so much and the fact that it's low carb (since it's made of chickpea) made it even more enjoyable! Trouchia is an omelet made with grated zucchini, onions, eggs, and herbs. It was filling yet light and pretty well-balanced in flavor. Definitely a must try street food if you're visiting Nice!

I had spotted them on You Tube travel videos. Naturally, I ordered the "Socca" and "Pan Bagnat" The socca was yummy! A savory chickpea flour pancake- a bit creamy, a bit crispy rolled up and placed in paper. The pan bagnat was fresh and delicious . Think of salade nicoise in a sandwich. Two thick pieces of French bread with tuna, anchovy, sliced boiled eggs, veggies , and a light oil dressing. We didn't get a chance to try the onion tart. The socca was delivered fresh by bicycle frequently from their mother restaurant. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

When I went to this stand, there were a bunch of locals and myself - very friendly & talkative locals lol. Chez Magali is the red stand between the two options. Created in the 1930s, L'Estaque district's famous stretched doughnuts have such a unique look to them, often compared to churros which I don't understand because they look so different. It's even said - don't tell an Estacan that Chichi Frégi are like churros! :P Did I mention they're vegan?! This unique pastry is thick & fluffy, almost as if pumped with air to give a light delicious flavor. You can have it plain, with sugar or even with chantilly whipped cream. We preferred the nicely dusted with sugar version best but ymmv. I recommend getting one from each stand & comparing as I did! My friend and I found a huge stone to sit on while overlooking the ocean, about 10 steps from the stand. Gorgeous views with delicious eats in Marseilles!

My mom told us about the Chichi Fregi since we were kids and to be able to go back to L'Estaque…read morewith her and my wife to have a chichi Fregi will be a memory that I will have for the rest of my life. Simply priceless. Chichi Fregi is not available in Marseille, so you have to make the trek to L'Estaque but it will be well worth it. There are two Chichi Fregi pop-up locations within a short distance of each other and while the other location was featured on YouTube, we did not get a chance to do a side-by-side comparison. We ordered and the husband and wife team worked seamlessly together to take the order and make the Chichi Fregis. Wait! What is a Chichi Fregis you ask? Chichi Fregis is Marseille's original street food. It is a long deep-fried dough fritter. Think of it as a fat beignet loaf/baguette. It's hot and the sugar coating will be all over your mouth, hands, and clothes. With the wind whipping from the ocean, your hair will be flying but your taste buds will be flying even higher once you bit into a Chichi Fregis.
