Malachy of Body and Sole, I salute you. Let me elaborate. Number two son has a verucca and having…read moreunsuccessfully tried all the over the counter remedies, I decided it was time to consult a chiropodist. The only fly in the (verucca) ointment was the fact that number two son goes into orbit when anyone tries to even look at his foot. Every time Malachy even got near the verucca, my brave little soldier cried and flailed about in the chair. Not good. But Malachy kept calm, even when the wrestling almost made him cut his own thumb off. Eventually, and due entirely to Malachy's calm professionalism, the treatment was done and mother and child were relieved (him) and pathetically grateful (me). I thanked Malachy for his patience and slunk out. Body and Sole is also a physiotherapy clinic and is bright , modern and clean. The receptionist is a kind and friendly lady who looked after us beautifully and I have no hesitation in recommending this clinic.

He was very busy and fully booked up, so it took about a week of waiting to get my appointment - he was obviously a popular one. The appointment itself was very good - and reasonably priced too. He got rid of all the nasty hard skin and trimmed the nails etc. I don't care what anyone says - you can buy all the products you like and try to tackle your feet yourself, but nothing is better than letting the experts do it. If you are looking for a good chiropodist in the North Belfast area, I would recommend this guy.

Is it really possible to say I'm a fan of the doctors? I mean, really? Sure, Kerrsland is a lovely,…read moreairy surgery, and I only had to wait a miraculous five days for an appointment, and the GPs are all helpful enough...but it is a doctors. Fine, four stars it is. I am fortunate enough to not be a regular attendee at such a place. The last time I went was due to my hayfever, three years ago, as it had gotten particularly bad and I was to spend the next five days camping. At that time, prescriptions were £3.50, so I was only prescribed a nasal spray, despite the fact that the locum doctor was adamant that I would get them for free since I was a student. I managed to persuade that this really wasn't the case, and I also had to fork out for dental treatment. She was appalled at this, and I was rather appalled that she hadn't known this fact. Lovely lady though. This visit was linked to my sore foot, and I hesitantly made an appointment with another locum doctor, who was pleasant enough and tried his best to figure out what was up. He informed he that I was suffering from foot-pain (gosh), and that he would prescribe me some anti inflammatories, and that it would probably be a good idea for me to get an arch support too. Prescriptions are now free (happy days), so I didn't mind this too much at all. Awk, they do do a good job. I just really hope I won't be back mind you. Simply because it is a doctors. Nothing else.

No one likes going to the doctor, so if you have to go it may as well be as best an experience as you can manage, and that is what you get here. Appointments are easy enough to get and all staff, from reception to nurses and all the doctors are so nice. While doctors are constantly under pressure to see as many patients as possible under crippling time restraints, you never feel rushed, you are never just handed a prescription and sent on your way and you are listened to. Any time I have attended I have felt understood and respected and felt better! I hope you don't need a doctor, but if you do these guys have it all in healthy spades.

It's obvious too just looking around the unit we were in that the deadly cutbacks are incredibly savage. As we left in the lift from level 9 an elderly lady, barely able to stand got in at level 5. She had a small carry case and a walking stick. She was tearful telling us that she had been kept in, prepared for surgery and shortly before she was to be operated on it was pulled as they 'needed a specialist'. Apart from the obvious questions and sheer waste of a scarce valuable resource how could this be allowed to happen to vunerable people but it's a story we hear all too often. She had no idea when she will be called back so she'll have to continue to live in acute pain seemingly until the 12th of never.

The hospital is a mixture of old and new buildings set in a beautiful open woodland area . The older buildings have that wonderful solid but austere impression from the Victorian era . There has been a lot of renovation done over recent years to bring these buildings up to safety standards. The new buildings fit in well with the old and clearly give the onlooker the confidence that behind the doors there is equipment and staff fully trained for the specialist care that this hospital has to offer. Although the waiting lists for orthopaedic operation is sadly longer than we want this is not the fault of the specific hospital and staff are understanding of this . The overall care and success rate is good and thanks to the thorough pre assessment examination there are very few problems including risk of infection. It is very reassuring to know that we still have the best health service with specialist areas like that which Musgrave Park Hospital can provide.
