I guess I wasn't lucky enough to get Dr. Gabriela. The doctor I had was atrocious. I am not blaming him for the condition of my teeth. They are a result of a fear of dentists going back to the 1950s. His attitude was horrid to a patient like me shaking and scared to death. The staff was kind and gentle and he undid the relaxation I began to feel. He talked to everyone BUT me as to what was happening, threw a referral to the staff and I never saw him again. Unless your teeth are in good shape or your fear isn't paralyzing don't go here. Dr. Duares is a great dentist! I've been coming here for slightly over 6 months after newly moving to the area a year ago. I'm a person whose had a "troubled" dental past due to generically "soft" teeth; tons of fillings (over 16 according to my last dentist), two root canals and a few crowns so I'm pretty good at detecting a good dentist. Dr. Duares is very knowledgeable. I actually had to get two crowns on my front two teeth 3 months ago due to an accident that occurred over 15 years ago that finally needed a permanent fix that I've been pushing off for a few years! In any event, she effectively did the procedure, thoroughly explaining every step of the way & the type of crowns I have. She did the same for a filing I had to have about a month & a half ago. Customer service is great here at this office! All of the staff is friendly and helpful. Dr Duares always greets you with a warm smile. She even two things distinctly different here that I never seen at the many dentist offices I've been to. When she does a cleaning or a procedure, she takes before and after pictures and shows you both afterwards which I think is great to see the difference. Also, after a cleaning, she wipes your face down with a warm damp soft towel. Not only is it relaxing but it keeps you from walking around looking like a fool with dried toothpaste and ash around your face (always a side effect of cleanings for me). The staff is very helpful with payment options if you have any out of pocket costs for any procedure. Overall, great local dentist office. read more

I recently moved to the area and made an appointment here based on the recommendation of a neighbor. Unfortunately, Dr. Duraes was not available when I went in for a sore tooth, so I tried Dr. Akkash. On the positive side, they got me in quickly. The office staff was pleasant and Dr. Akkash had a good bedside manner. He indicated that the problem was that I had quite a bit of plaque build up around a certain tooth and suggested I schedule a full examine and cleaning, which I did. A week later, I was back. The examine was probably the most stressful dental visit of my life. I have a very small mouth, so my previous dentist would use child-size x-rays. Here they kept trying to shove full sized x-rays into my mouth, despite my gagging and discomfort. Once that was over, the dentist and hygienist proceeded to examine and clean my teeth while using three instruments in my mouth at the same time - a sucking machine, a blower, and a polisher/scraper. Plus someone's hands smelled strongly of what I believe was tobacco. It was loud and uncomfortable - but that wasn't the worst. At the end of the appointment, the dentist informed me that I had two surface cavities that need to be fixed and filled. Given that I religiously have my teeth cleaned 2x per year, I have only ever had one cavity. And now this dentist tells me I have two new ones? Needless to say, I was skeptical, so I made an appointment with my old dentist to verify. The following week, I drove over an hour and spent $200 for my long-term dentist to take a look. He advised that while I have some staining in the cracks of my teeth that have been there for years, I have no cavities, surface cavities or pre-cavities. I also needed my teeth cleaned again because they left significant tartar build-up on the back teeth. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Dr. Akkash. I had some bad experience in the past and would consider myself "dental phobic". Not anymore. The team is great from beginning to the end. The dentist herself is great... but the billing manager entered my claim wrong 3 times! After giving her my pilot number and member ID 3 times I still received a 200$ bill in the mail. The billing manager then told me she would touch base with me... but I had to call back because she didn't call me. I do not appreciate the inconvenience they caused me.
