I took 20 classes in 30 days, and tried all except the hot yoga. PROS: -Beautiful studio! The space is gorgeous and clean with lots of natural light in the pilates area and fun neon lights in the HIIT class area. -Great selection of classes and times to choose from. -The classes themselves are wonderful- HIIT ranged in difficulty and the pilates was always fantastic. -Low sugar plant-based smoothie menu was awesome. CONS: -Customer service- This was my biggest problem with the studio. I was rarely greeted or acknowledged when entering the studio or when leaving. Entire classes went by when I was not acknowledged at all. It was a very cold/unwelcoming environment. I felt incredibly out of place and always left feeling kind of...sad. There was just one instructor who actually learned my name and was friendly to me, and I took multiple classes from her (she was great). After I joined the studio I never got a "tour" / nobody showed me around or told me what to expect from different classes. I was left on my own to figure it out. I have tried lots of studios around town so felt mostly comfortable in the classes but if I was new to this type of exercise, I would be totally lost. -Price- I paid a little over $200 for a new member special 30 day deal. That gets you one (just one!) class per day. There were times I wanted to do a HIIT class in the morning and check out a hot yoga class in the evening but I was not willing to pay an additional $25 to double up. There *are* 75 minute HIIT/Pilates combo classes, though. -No private bathroom area/locker room. The bathroom area is shared with whatever business is down the hall. It's a typical office building bathroom situation- no hooks on bathroom stall doors or surface to put down a bag. Not convenient for the days I had to change after work. No bowls of hair ties/tampons or dry shampoo like every other studio I've been to has. Overall, with a more welcoming vibe and the option to double up on classes, I'd come back. Otherwise there are plenty of other studios around town that offer the same workouts with a better atmosphere, and for a better price.

Downtown Yoga - I LOVE YOGA at DOWNTOWN YOGA in Hammond, LA

I have a GREAT recommendation based on my personal experience. I retired last August, and my…read moreyoungest son surprised me with a VERY special retirement gift -- private one-on-one YOGA lessons at DOWNTOWN YOGA in Hammond, LA, His goal was to assist me in gaining balance, confidence and "winding me down mentally" (meditation) following extensive back surgery for lumbar scoliosis at Vanderbilt, and a slip which required a second surgery at Baylor in Houston. I no longer knew how or had the confidence to get myself off the ground if I wanted to play floor games (jacks/puzzles/pick-up-sticks, etc) with my grandchildren; or even perform yard work afraid I would lose my balance while working in flower beds. It was downright embarrassing to be down and have to crawl to a couch or chair and the agony of getting myself up. I went to Cate Square and brought a picnic lunch, and realized I could not sit on the blanket to eat with my 4-year-old grandson, as I would not be able to get back up without crawling to a bench to pull myself up. With this surprise, my son personally drove in from Houston and brought me to meet Dr. Brenna Barzenick at DOWNTOWN YOGA. He had researched the area and then researched Dr. Barzenick's background. He was so amazed at her expertise, that he personally called her to explain my back issues to assure yoga could help me. Brenna provided me with an in-depth assessment/evaluation which included reviewing my X-rays which indicated where all the rods and screws were located -- my back is a mess (I lost 5" in height prior to having the 12-hour surgery, and endured the pain as long as I could. I was 64 when I had the surgery, - I did not have the normal curvature or even know I had lumbar scoliosis, until carrying a heavy bag in the airport 4 years prior to surgery and the pain just came out of the blue. I thought I had just pinched a nerve, but the pain was relentless. After seeing 5 neurosurgeons in New Orleans, none specializing in scoliosis surgery, I found one in Baton Rouge who focused on scoliosis. Unfortunately, he suggested I endure the pain, as the surgery was tough, and he just felt I looked too good at that time, explaining this surgery would "age me." I later realized that it does limit one's flexibility and ability to partake in the sports that you love, whether it be snow skiing, basketball, or just running around chasing and playing with your kiddos. I have now focused on the Elliptical, swimming, and best of all -- YOGA! Breanna assured me that she has the perfect teacher I needed for 1:1 classes (which I preferred, and my son insisted upon - Jo Ziller- a true life changer. I was nervous, had little confidence, and was very fearful of falling. I attended classes an hour each week for 9 months. I am still amazed at the difference I have made in becoming confident after gaining strength in my legs and arms, and actually seeing differences week to week. I am now able to more easily get into the positions necessary to get down on the ground and then lift myself up through correct yoga positioning! It's not an "overnight" fix, but Jo encouraged me, praised me, and I began to feel better and gain balance. Unfortunately, I needed two cataract surgeries and then retina surgery, thus had to sit out until released. My son just questioned why I had not started back yet, and said "Merry Christmas, as I am going to give you a Christmas present of 1:1 weekly lessons with Jo as I know you will continue to progress and keep you will feel younger, Mom!" NOW that is showing love -- he wants me around and to feel younger! If I can make a recommendation to anyone who is pondering what to give a parent, I suggest the same surprise -- yoga classes or one-on-one classes if needed like I did.-My son made it happen - I never would have thought I could take yoga classes. TREAT yourself to YOGA classes. I treated my sister to a group session (I had the confidence to attend with her) and was amazed at the number of people in the class who said they, too, had scoliosis. Many had not had surgery yet had improved their pain through commitment and dedication. Regardless, I am a believer - my doctors have confirmed that YOGA is one of the best exercises I could perform (one advising that he loved YOGA and took classes himself). to have the quality of yoga instructors here in Hammond USA, is phenomenal. Writing this missive was important to me, as if I can help just ONE person to improve with Yoga classes in Hammond, then I have given a gift of encouragement. Please know that this Senior Citizen is feeling so much more balanced and younger -- mentally and physically -- due to the wonderful team of instructors of Downtown Yoga. Happy Holidays to all - Charlotte W. Dupre' -- just one true believer that Yoga can and will make a positive difference in your life!

This small-town gem is a must-see! It's my new favorite place to be when I'm in Louisiana. The…read moreservices are administered by courteous professionals and the environment is soothing. The owner, Tonya Wyandon, is an exceptional yoga instructor with more than 6 years of teaching experience. I took her gentle yoga class that was a great way to readjust my body after a long plane ride. The next day she gave me Thai yoga on the mat, which is an assisted practice also known as "lazy person's yoga." Totally relaxing experience! This form of body work is almost ethereal; the world seemed to melt away as she stretched and lengthened my muscles. The gentle rocking motions allowed my body to release tension, especially in my back. Quite sumptuous!! I also took a Kundalini yoga class with Teri Galloway, who has decades of experience in Hatha Yoga. Her class helped me get "out of my head" and focus on releasing tension and allowing my body and mind to be re-energized. I was new to that form of yoga and I left feeling really glad I took it. Another amazing service was offered by Suzanne Cotton; it was an essential oil spinal detoxification treatment. This service was one of the most relaxing! Suzanne's services are perfect for anyone dealing with anxiety, stress, inflammation in the joints or other maladies. Her high-grade essential oils were not overpowering in their aromas and were gentle on my sensitive skin. Her "energy work" is phenomenal and she truly cared about my overall experience and targeting my physical and emotional well being. And the skin care expert, Marti B. Pourciau, gave me one of the best facials I've ever had ... and I've had quite a few at high-end salons! Her products truly agreed with my sensitive skin. The soothing scents relaxed me and the oxygen treatment left me with a wonderful glow ... I couldn't stop admiring my skin in the mirror! The overall atmosphere at the studio/spa is inviting and relaxing. A perfect place to pamper oneself.

I've done regular yoga before, but this took it to a whole new level; think yoga with extra intensity (and sweat) in the best way possible. Our instructor, Eric LaCour, was amazing: super knowledgeable, motivating, and made the class feel welcoming for all levels. If you're looking to stay in shape, kick-start your fitness or weight-loss journey, or even try their ice bath plunges, I highly recommend checking out Preservation Yoga! #HotYoga #PreservationYoga #FitnessJourney #BatonRougeFitness #StayActive

I trained in vinyasa yoga, but welcomed the challenge of learning a new style when I was greeted with Bikram Yoga at Preservation Yoga. Everyone here (instructors and students alike) have been nothing short of amazing and incredibly helpful! I have yoga brain at the moment so forgive me if this review is a little all over the place. Tonight I took the bikram hot 90 class at 5pm and decided to stay for the new "fusion" class. Definitely a good idea! (Make sure you hydrate and rest!) The appropriately named "Fusion" class fuses poses and styles of both vinyasa and bikram yoga. It was designed perfectly! I found it to be a great mix of challenging and meditative, definitely a good class for beginners and experienced yogis alike! Everyone here is super helpful and incredibly knowledgeable about form and breath, which is crucial in any type of exercise but especially yoga (at least for myself) highly highly recommend this studio!

I was devastated by my husband's unexpected death early this year, and was having a horribly difficult time climbing out of deep depression. Honestly, I was having a difficult time even getting out of bed. I recently began going to Agame Yoga and trying several of the different disciplines. All of the instructors are kind and caring, and just walking into the building makes me feel calm and welcome. I also am recovering from a shoulder injury. Since beginning classes and practice at Agame and following up at home in the past several weeks, I am already noticing an improvement in my depression -- moving toward acceptance -- and physical improvement with my shoulder. I highly recommend Agame to anyone thinking about starting yoga practice or picking it up again after a long lapse. They offer an "unlimited yoga, try everything" package for about $30 for your first month, and I found that very helpful in choosing classes. I highly recommend Yoga Nidra and Yin Yoga for those dealing with great stress. The premises are exceptionally clean, with ample parking, and the staff cares that you are there, thanks you for coming, and warmly welcomes you each time they see you. I strongly recommend Agame to everyone and plan to continue and expand my classes and practice there.

I have been to a couple of other studios around the area out of curiosity and none even came close to the relaxation that I got at Agame. Relaxing doesn't mean easy either, the teachers are skilled at judging their classes and make sure that you give your body a nice work out. I always leave stress free and have a ton of energy after my practice. I have been taking the Hot Yoga classes as well as the morning classes. I highly recommend, that you come and experience it for yourself. It is like no other Yoga studio in the area.
