Man, you have to be VERY hungry to eat in this place. Seriously. And of course, it's a good value for the money. I got a nice rump steak for about £6-something )I don`t remember the price because it was a treating and I didn`t pay for anything. Nice!) and the chip portion was generous. Food tastes really nice there. It`s definitely homemade and the service is really nice. Actually, fair play to the girl who was serving us. She seems to be barmaid, manager and anything else in that place. She keeps the pub running well. I would say. Multi task people: my favourite ones! This pub has also a different meal for the day in a cost of over 6 pounds. Really nice options. And the cakes seemed to be pretty fresh! I wish i had more room for some pudding. The menu changes daily based on what they have fresh and what they could shoot that week (seared pigeon is amazing). The staff are all very friendly and its an excellent all round dining experience. Not too pretentious and lacking a lot of the frills that can come with this kind of quality meal but thats why I like it. Definitely book ahead but well worth a visit. The only downside is that its difficult to decide what to order with such a good selection.

It is at the edge of Cannock Chase and if you sit on the far side of the pub by the window you can see for miles. The name comes from the old windmill in the grounds across the bowling green. In the winter it is lovely sitting by the roaring fire. There is a bar, lounge and upstairs restaurant. Sunday lunch is excellent with a good choice of meat. You can also order off the menu. The fish and chips are massive and amazing with crispy batter. Never had a bad meal here just sometimes they go over the top with peas but if you love them it's fine. They do good bread and butter pudding with custard. They also do real ale.

Starters - £1 (soup) and £2 Mains - £1 (nuggets, chicken burger etc) Mains - £2.50 Roast of the day, cottage pie etc Sweets - £1 All mains £1 if you order 3 x courses. I had the pork dinner which came with; stuffing, carrots, green beans, sprouts, mashed potato and roast (I think deep fried) potatoes (5/6). The veg were cooked fine for me as I like "al dente" and there was 1 and a bit thick slices of pork. I enjoyed it. The place itself is very old and like walking into a old hall with open fires which seemed welcoming. There were others like myself who had not visited before who seemed to enjoy the food too. I will visit again as it is very good value.

When I lived at home, one of these places was the old house at home which was a pub in Pelsall and it was lovely and I still go there sometimes now. The address is as follows: Old House At Home Norton Road Pelsall Walsall West Midlands WS3 4NT Ok so location first. The old house at home is located in a small village called Pelsall. It is a delightful little village and this pub is one of all of the local's favourites and is located right in the centre of the village. You can get to it by car and there is a car park there which I always manage to find a space and it is free. You can also get there from most local buses that go through Pelsall and the bus stop is literally a 30 second walk away from there. In Pelsall it is by the fingerpost. The old house at home from the outside reminds me of a cottage. It is a nice looking building which has beams and a sweet roof and a nice entrance with a nice heated outside area with a few wooden tables. When you go past you cant help but think that it looks very cosy there and to me I think it looks completely inviting as the lights are always on and there is a massive window so you can see people sitting there enjoying themselves from the outside. As you park and walk in to the pub you will notice that the doors are lovely. Then in front of you there is the bar and the bar is massive. They are very well stocked and have always made any drink I wanted which is always good. They will also give you advice on what to drink and give you prices of you ask and the staff seem to always be in quite a good mood which is nice. Drinks are about the same price as any bar so no surprises there. To the left of the bar you will see a seating area which is usually used for those people purely coming in for a drink. There are loads of tables and seats and the pub goes around further than you expect it to. You can of course eat in this area but you will probably prefer to go to the right of you which is where there are nice tables and most people go and eat here. Now this is where that big window is so it is nice eating there. The toilets are on this side to and they are very nice and clean at all times. Ok so the food is very nice. There is a good menu which gives you a good choice of your normal pub foods really such as scampi and lasagne and curry. The food is reasonable price at main meals being around £5 - 8. Starters include soup and others at around £3. Then puddings include gorgeous ice-cream and chocolate cake which are about £3.50 so prices are not that bad at all. The food is yummy and on different nights they do have offers such as on a Wednesday I think it is they do curry night so you can get a meal and a drink for a fiver and they do things like that. In the pub you will notice that there is always a bustling and fun atmosphere and the decoration reflects this. It is all quite traditional with wooden everything which fits the cottage theme. Once a week on a Thursday they do a quiz night and you have to get there early to even get a table as it gets very busy indeed. The quiz is good fun and I have done it quite a few times. The pub is always bustling and when you go there you will see why people do like it. It is a fun pub and one that you go and feel comfortable in. they have people there who work as security in a way and they will get rid of any troublemakers which is what I like as troublemakers ruin everything. I felt sorry for the chef, he couldn't have been prepared to know if he was going to require 30 turkey dishes or 30 lamb shanks. If I'd been the host I'd have got them pre-ordered. Neverthess, everything was fine. The vegetables were nice and hot too, and plenty of extras. I've dropped them one star for one big no no in my book: Deep fried potatoes pretending to be roast potatoes. I know why they do it, but I wished they wouldn't. Apart from that a wonderful feast.

Mostly roast type things, and their attempts at gastro pub fare, I guess. Everything tasted fine, but other than the fuel for my absolute love of beams, it wasn't particularly anything to write home about, I do remember vividly, however, their way of calling their pudding a strawberry shortcake, and succeeding in using only one strawberry! Sliced in crisp-thickness slices. It seemed a little tight to me! They do do wedding receptions, and it's a nice enough place for that, but definitely somewhere for the plainer and less adventurous eaters among us!
